Dee - I have never used the email notifications.  Get enough email as it is.  I'm guessing they changed something and I wonder if they realize their link is not working.  You might want to bring it to their attention.

Ann - crappy, just crappy about the softball.  I'm so glad to hear that Keri is taking it well.  She is a trooper, and yes, the team is going to miss her.  I wish kids could play sports and not have any parent involvement.  Take out the parents and the kids would all have a better time.  But unfortunately that is the way it works.  Even when they play for the school, the parent with the biggest mouth or wallet seems to get their way.  

Robin - hope you are having some nice days in Raleigh.  I'm thinking I might know what pub you are going to stop in at.  

Today I took the day off and had three different Dr. appointments.  Turns out that two of the Dr.s I seemed to have not been in the last two years.  Not sure what happened there.  Monday I get to have my mammogram.  Fun fun.

Yes you do! I am meeting folks there tomorrow instead of today. I packed my bike and got all dressed in bike clothes and headed to one of the nearest parking places for the greenway system here. It was somewhat isolated and I was all by myself with one car with two bored teens in it. I didn't think it was wise to leave my car all alone there. It may be full of folks after work, but I didn't want to wait and see, nor did I want to deal with the 2 hours of insane Raleigh traffic if I was wrong. (Sorta like Atlanta traffic - Lite).

Anyway, back at the hotel and I think Ill forgo their free food and walk to Bahama Breeze for dinner. Tonights free food here is burgers. I know this because the guy has been grilling them, then putting them in heater boxes for the last 2 hours. The food does not start until 5:30. Even if I ate them, I can only imagine how rubber-like they would be.

Ann, Take it up with the league any way. If you are being bashed anyway, maybe some good will come from it. If not for Keri, for some other poor kid with talent that scares that coach.

Keri and I are supposed to leave tomorrow afternoon to drive 2 hours north for a softball tournament on Saturday. It is supposed to start raining tonight, there are flood watches out, we are to get 2+ inches of rain through tomorrow night. That doesn't make for good conditions on softball fields. Not sure what they'll do. I  am glad we are getting away for the weekend though. We'll get to eat out, which she likes, and the hotel I have booked has an indoor pool, so I told her to pack a swimsuit. Even if she would have games on Saturday, 4 of them possibly, I'm going to let her play in the pool on Sunday before we head home.

I'm at work and afraid to bring up my computer, so I brought my iMac into work with me today.  On Tuesday, in the middle of the afternoon, someone in IT sent out a push to all the windows based PC's, and it wiped out every computer system completely.  It was crazy.  Yesterday they were running around from PC to PC re-imaging them once they figured out what they needed to do.  (They stayed up all night on Tuesday to get it figured out).  But since I was not here yesterday, they could not check my computer.  Rumor is that about 1000 computers were affected.

Robin - smart move in my opinion on not getting out of the car, also with the dinner choice.

Dee - yes, enjoy the beautiful weather.  We had a torrential downpour all night, and I think are supposed to have more rain today.  Sounds like a trainer run this evening.

Ann - I agree with Robin, and think you should maybe check with the league.  You have Donnie's emails that are spelling out what they think you did, and if you can even show that some of that was not true, then you have grounds to file a complaint.  Do you have any lawyer friends who would write an initial letter for you?  Sometimes just the mention of legal action will change things.  Of course, you don't want Keri on that coaches team, but if the 12 and under group still wants her, then it is worth fighting for.  Anyway, as I mentioned yesterday, I'm proud of Keri for handling it so well.

Oh, and have fun at the tournament this weekend, whether she gets to play or not due to the weather, swimming in the pool should be fun.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! As someone who has worked in IT for 10+ years I've seen similar things happen before. This is what happens when someone decides to push something but hasn't tested it, and look at the result. Testing their package on a small group of machines would have shown the disastrous result, allowed for changes to be made, avoided a catastrophe. You should always test!

It turns out my compute is okay.  Yeah.  But some of my staff may not get their programs back on their computers till next week sometime.  Makes it hard to get the job done.  Oh, well, thank goodness it is summer and a quieter time of year for us.  (Until the construction starts next week, LOL)

The 1-2 inches of rain we were supposed to receive from last night into this evening has so far amounted to a little over 4" of rain. There is flooding in the area, and the rain isn't stopping anytime soon. This may cause difficulties for Keri and I heading north tonight for her softball tournament. I'm not even sure how they're going to be able to play on the fields. The county they're playing in is in a flood warning, too, and has already had an excessive amount of rain.

I just ordered a paddle for my SUP. Not only is it adjustable, but the blade on the end is changeable. There is a large blade, for flat water, and a narrow blade for waves and moving water. I'm all set to go!

We had epic weather here in Raleigh yesterday. Flooding, tornado warnings, all sorts of things. I am very, very glad I did not drive home yesterday. That would have been scary. Hanging around here for a bit to avoid traffic, then dashing (5 hours worth) home.

Safe travels, Ann. Go on your trip and you and Keri have fun girl-time whether they play the games or not.

Kendra, that computer mess sounds stupid, stupid, stupid. Glad you pulled through.

Good Morning, Ghoulies!  I am glad that it is Friday!   Even though my weekend will be filled with cleaning jobs.  shampoo carpet, scrub bathrooms, and such.  Company is coming for the holiday weekend.

Yeah!  Sounds like fun!

Be careful traveling!  Hope it goes smoothly for you.

Rain is supposed to start tonight for 3 or 4 days, then clear up again.

Hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend.  Today I return the grand kids back to their parents after a weekend of fun.  The two older boys participated in a 3K run on Saturday, while the younger two did a 50 yard dash.  They then got to talk to an Olympian shot putter, Adam Nelson, and each one threw the shot put.

How was your weekend?

She did. We saw a lot of flooding on our way up. We were surprised that the fields were in decent shape. It did rain on and off some on Saturday. At one point in time it poured for about 10-15 minutes, but they never stopped the game, the girls kept on playing.

Keri had a great day. She was up to bat at least 12 times, making it safely on base all but 2. Twice she went in to pitch having to clean up someone else's mess. The one time he put her in the bases were loaded and there were no outs. She walked the first batter, giving the other team a run, but then struck out the next 3.

She also was catcher for 1 game, played first base 1 game, and played third base for 2 games. I can't tell you how many bases she stole, or how many times she came around to score, but it was a lot. She had fun. She likes playing tournament ball more than rec ball, so I doubt we'll ever go back to the organization we had so many problems with this fall, and that is FINE BY ME!

Sunday morning she got to play in the pool at the hotel for a little while with one of her teammates and her 3 sisters. Then we stopped at Dunkin Donuts before heading home. Yesterday afternoon Donnie, Caleb, and Keri went and played laser tag with most of his family for one of the younger kids birthdays.

I forgot to mention that during the games on Saturday Keri took a beating, as she usually does when playing. She got hit 3 times by pitches. The mildest, the ball bounced twice before hitting the bottom of her foot. She also took a pitch in the ankle right above her shoe, it was still swollen last night, so we put ice on it. She also took a pitch on her first 3 fingers of her left hand. I think that one hurt her the most. Her middle fingernail has some blood under it. Unless it got worse overnight I don't think it will need to be drained.

She is on a field trip today, is playing games in 2 of her classes tomorrow, and has track and field day on Wednesday morning. After today she has 8 days of school left.

Caleb only has 7 days of school after today, since I'm letting him skip next Thursday because he doesn't want to go on the class trip.

I can't believe the school year is almost over.

I am off to drive to the western part of the state to look at a firing range that needs help. Our cool weather is over today. High of 87 today. Summer is Ba--a-a-a-a-a-ck.

Got in a good workout last night.  Trying to get to the gym at least 3 times a week to work on strength.
