John:

Did you get the woman's contact information? If so would you contact her for me and ask her if she would like a custom made box to house the flag. I have made these before and have an request for one now for a WWII vet. Let me know, it would be my honor.

That is an awesome idea!!!  I'll track it down through some contacts.  I think I've seen the case but I can't see the pic either.   AWESOME idea doug!!!

You guys are really great!  (seriously)

So I finally went back to masters this morning, I have no idea why I swim so well in that pool.  It was TT day today

25Yd :18

50Yd :38

100Yd 1:19

400Yd 6:04

I swear my pool at work must be like 27M, I can't touch a 100 in the 1:30's.  I went today to work with my coach on my stroke but he said I was swimming so well I just needed to keep going with the workout.

Swimming makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.

So, I'm ratting Bruce out!  He has a race tomorrow, and I'm guessing he hasn't mentioned it!

Let's wish him good speed folks.

Same goes to the rest of the racers this weekend.  Kick it!!!

NOw heading out for a swim. Again good luck to all our racers.
John.. knock this one out of the park. I know you will be awesome.
It's strange having role models when one  is tall enough to be a giant  and the other is like a forest sprite. (fatty and minnow). What an awesome group we have.

So I got up at 5 AM and drove nearby for the 5:45 group OWS. The sun was not up yet as we made our way through the wood to Falls Lake. By 6AM we were in our wetsuits and the water was 74 F. We said a little prayer and off we went.

There were 8 of us. we swam 1.09 miles with a 6-7 minute break at the turn around while we waited for the last swimmers. I was 3 to arrive at the turn around and just on the heels of the guy in front of me. Funny thing was I was not really trying. I am racing tomorrow morning and just wanted to get in an OWS before the race. I felt great and when we were done I was really invigorated.

My Garmin 310XT was in a zip lock baggy in my swim cap and worked perfectly. Startled me on the return as it buzz at the 1 mile point. I am glad I swam as I need to work on my sighting and I swallow some water in the beginning. Overall I am psyched and will try to make this part of my weekly training.

I find that if I can take my mind away from my body when racing I do better (at least during the less technical parts). So, I will be thinking about Fatty in Texas, Steve's family, the lady and her son on the plne that Fatty met, and my family tomorrow AM. In a lot of ways any pain I may feel is less than the pain and/or issues they will/ are facing and that helps me keep things in focus. Also it is kind of Zen like.

So MG peeps if your ears are warm tomorrow between 8 and 10 AM EST, it is because I am thinking about you.

It's been said a few times lately, but its true - this group is truly something special.  Thanks to all of you for making it awesome.

Like Doug, I was up and at it early this morning.  Left the house at 5:35 to meet some guys from work for a ride.  We ended up cranking out 40+ miles before work and had beautiful weather (finally!!!!!) and great views of the San Juan Islands.

Best of luck to all of the racers this weekend

I have tons to say, and no computer to say it with! So please bear with me while I type on my Droid.First, I'm sending prayers out by the dozens for all the racers, Steve's family, and john's friend on the plane. Thank you, Doug, for offering that box. It is such a thoughtful gesture. It keeps everything in perspective, doesn't it? Also, did you guys hear about this skinny purple short guy doing IMTX this weekend? Way cool. And now I owe a HUGE thank you to those of you who urged me to see a pt, especially suzy!. My first appt was today, and he was awesome. He worked with me for a long time and basically told me that my hips, ankles, and IT band are all super tight, and my hams are a little weak. All of those combined to cause it, but mostly the IT band. So I have to stretch a ton to work on that, or else he said it'll actually get a lot worse when I increase distances. I go back next Friday and he will give me more stretches then. He told me not to rule out races for the summer yet! Yes! Up to Michigan for the weekend now!
