Veteran 112 Wollongong | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed Time to pick your brains. How do you set up transition for rainy event? This has not happened to me yet, but given the wet summer we're having on the east coast of Australia, it's just a matter of time. |

Thanks to everyone for your support and your congratulations. This forum was a tremendous part of my amazing results. And believe me, I surprised myself. I knew it was possible, but I didn't know if I would do it. The Hanson plan worked exactly as advertised. 20 very easy miles, 5 easy miles and 1.2 hard miles. Everything came together perfectly to produce the experience of a lifetime. Training, weather, nutrition, low stress level, encouragement; it was all there. Even though I am crossing this bucket list item off 10 years late, it was absolutely AWESOME! Yesterday I had a little bit of a problem walking and was pretty stiff after the 3-hour ride home. Per coach E, I used ice (I chose an ice bath). The foam roller, stick and stretching were my best friends. Today I hardly feel a thing. I am truly grateful for each and everyone of you. Jackie
Fantastic race, JAckie - congrats - now the question everyone wants to know - are you going to run Boston!? |

My running shoes are constantly wet now, it's beyond a joke. Greg, I know how you feel. I start work at 7am and will do the morning runs in darkness, I remember swimming in the lake in the darkness too and I will always remember it, but that was before the the IM 2 years ago. Geez, I can't believe it's been 2 years already... Mitch - Swim - 6 / Bike - 16 / Run - 22 / Rest -3 / Total 44 / Time - 36:23:44 Edited by markz 2013-02-26 12:47 AM |

Master 3022 | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed Tough morning. My run was scedhuled as 1.5 mile WU, 3x1.5 miles @ 10k pace w/800M recoveries, and a 1.5 mile CD. Struggled to get out of bed, but managed and got all my gear on to run outside. WU was fine, 1st interval was fine, but I had nothing in the tank for the next 2. I ended up running easy instead and cutting the total distance 2 miles short to 6.5 miles. I cooled down on the bike. Was planning to swim later but feeling like a head cold might be coming one. Tomorrow is a rest day so hopefully I'll come back strong on Thursday. Mitch - Swim - 6 / Bike - 17 / Run - 23 / Rest -4 / Total 46 / Time - 37:50:19 Edited by dangremond 2013-02-26 8:09 AM |

This has not happened to me yet, but given the wet summer we're having on the east coast of Australia, it's just a matter of time. I use a garbage bag inside of a garbage bag. You can have separate ones for bike and run stuff or throw it all in one. I do this when it's windy and dusty also. Jackie

Well, since I only beat the time by 1 min, I will be among the last qualified to register. I'm not sure I can even get in. I am considering it though. I've heard it's the experience of a lifetime. I don't have to make the decision right now though. So I'll see when it gets a little closer to registration. Jackie

Member 146 | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed If it is anything like last year you should be OK. They actually extended registration a couple of extra weeks because all of the qualifiers that wanted to register didn't fill it up so with the extension a few more races were eligible. jackiep - 2013-02-26 11:38 AM markhodges1973 - 2013-02-25 7:54 PM Fantastic race, JAckie - congrats - now the question everyone wants to know - are you going to run Boston!? The good news is that Monday of last week the company that I work for posted an opening (long promised) for a person to help me do my job. Looks like I was able to get it under control and the strength training should hopefully keep it from coming back. I was able to run 7.5k on Sunday and then 5.4k yesterday with almost no pain.
