Spa day for her while you are gone? Force her to go and spa day for her while you race?

That's a good idea.

Interesting - tell me this - When you go to a fair or amusement park and they are selling those things that are made of donut batter that they drizzle into hot oil and they come out as a big platter looking thing that you sprinkle powdered suger on - what do you call that?

Dat's a funnel cake, silly.

My wife and I argue about this constantly.  It is fried dough.

Someone brought in doughnuts today.  Curse them for attacking when my hunger is up and my defenses were down....

chocolate covered, custard filled, was the one I selected....

Bavarian Cream - my favorite.

Wasn't sure of the name.

I just know they are deep fried, sugar filled, frosting covered, dough balls of goodness...

I always knew them as Boston Cream - also my favorite.

So they also have the chocolate covered with white fluffy cream filling as well as the custard filling.  Maybe they have different names?

Fried dough Everyone else calls it funnel cake. BUt actually, fried dough and funnel cake are not the same. Fried dough is pizza dough that has been stretched out into a plate-size disc and fried. I prefer fried dough - with butter, cinnamon and powdered sugar.

Around here - they call those Elephant Ears.

Hooray! Fried dough! Though in all fairness, they are kinda different. Fried dough is just the superior treat.

And if you were asking me those questions to find out - I am from upstate NY, about 45 minutes west of the New England border and my mother and her family are a bunch of French Canadians from Vermont and Massachusetts. We vacationed in Maine every summer as children, my aunt (which I pronounce unlike the insect) lived in Mass and New Hampshire for a long time, and I went to college in Boston. I'm about as Yankee as you can get

Nope, it's the custard filling. The vanilla frosting filling is different and as far as I know, I don't call it anything special. A boston creme pie is yellow cake layered with custard filling and topped with chocolate ganache. Same as the donut.

You see - not so much with those.  The white cream is too much like frosting.

I am banishing myself from all of CoJ, except TAN again.  I get too frustrated at certain folks to be out there without saying something that will get the attention of the Marma Police.

I will not speak of it here as it is rude and against the rules of TANdom.

I agree with the ranch on fires thing - but I get very annoyed at the "Ranch on everything" crowd.  If you can;t find food you like enough to eat without Ranch on it, find a bridge and find it now.  Seriously, Ranch on steak!!!!!  Ranch on Pork Chops!!!!!

I oughtttta..........
