Hwy. 146 can get busy at certain times of the day.  I live nearby and ride that road quite a bit, if you time it after school starts and before noon time it's not bad during the week.  For the most part Oldham Co. is cycling friendly, I've never had a problem on our roads.  (Just watch the 4 way stop in the center of LaGrange, be sure to stop and wait your turn.)
On race day, it is a completely different atmosphere, auto traffic will be much less, police will be at all the major intersections, some side streets will be closed to minimize potential issues, and everybody knows the drill when Ironman is in town.  With that said, you still have to watch for the one goober that is not paying attention.  Stay safe, have fun, smile & wave.

Just wanted to wish everyone safe travels, and good luck!!!!  I can only imagine your excitement.  I'm so excited for you all, I feel like I'm in it myself.  Maybe I will catch one of your bikes (promise not to drop it), or take your timing chip.  In a couple of years, I hope to be racing with you guys.  Be careful on your trips in, and kick some a** in the race.  Weather looks to be fantastic!!

C U at Louisville! - I will be looking for BT encouragement as you pass me on the bike, then see me starting loop 1 on the run as you walk back to your hotel after finishing hours earlier.

that is a sick looking ride. I love the red accents on the wheels that go with the frame paint.

My bet is they're expecting this stationary front to start moving and move through sometime in the next 24 hrs.  Oh, and I've posted this before, but I'll be volunteering at the swim start.  Wearing a white visor and blue jacket (since they're predicting 55 degree lows Sunday morning).  Let me know if you need a kick in the pants.

A month ago, who would have guessed that we would be wondering whether not we will be COLD during the run?  MSN shows the low as 49!  Rather have that then 95+ degrees.

Boy!  You guys have some SWEET A## RIDES!  I'll be the guy on the dinosaur Litespeed circa 2001 with the last of the cylindrical tubing.  I still love my bike, but it does not take nearly as pretty of a picture as your bikes.
Although I much prefer passing bikes like yours, I do enjoy taking in the view of kickin' bikes when they go by.
Anxious as heck.  Not leaving until tomorrow morning.

PEACE,
~Sam

Hey, Jeff, look for me working the swim start as well. I'll have a white visor one that says Circle City Multisports Club, and probably a bright yellow jacket.

With a possible low of 54* might I suggest snow boots, wool pants and a down parka instead.

So I've been sitting here thinking about the weather. 72*? In Louisville? In August? We've had a very mild summer here in Ohio but I've been trying to train in the heat when I can. In fact, I've been psyching myself up for the heat for an entire year. My training partner has even worn long riding pants and a riding jacket on hot days trying to get ready for the heat. I've got my hydration strategy down, now it looks like it's going to be cool. I feel alittle bit cheated. Anyone else feel this way?
