So, a little bit of recovery going on here.  I swam this evening (yay!), and muddled through it somehow.

They finally posted the results from the HM yesterday.  I didn't place as well as I had hoped -- 10th out of 88 in my age group.  But the top 12 ran sub-9 minute miles, which isn't too bad for us 50+ women.   I'll do a race report soon...

I'll say that is not bad! in fact it is fabulous you  you! I am only at 10 minute miles and that was when I felt fast! haha. YOU GO GIRL~

can't wait for my chipits to go stud!!! and if it takes 10 years to shave 3 min per mile on my run times..cool i look froward to be 50!!! cauz i don't think i have the legs for it and, no, peach equals a HM. No trumping there! Consistency is at play on both achievements IMO Laughing

dont you dare wish to age Is...but see what you mean! haha

Well Hello to all my beautiful athletes!!!!!!  I am still alive! and most importantly...TRAINING.   Ive been a CATZ animal.  Im hitting that place at least 3x/week.  Have met some great people there.  A lot are marathon and tri runners which makes me feel like I SHOULD be there!  My arms, amazingly are toning up.  Im starting to actually see some shape forming in my butt! AND there are some numbers dropping on the scale (though I am not obsessed with the numbers I see).  Whats most important is that I feel amazing.  I'll be honest. It is super tough to get online and log after a long day at work and then at the gym. I usually come home and fall asleep in my gym clothes--GROSS!!!

Sounds like all of you are making some great progress! You ladies/Gents are definitely an inspiring group!! Im making it a priority to get back into the blogging game!

you have made me a happy gal! glad to see you back! and understand how it can be hard to get online! hope you can find just a few times a week...and I will quit sending you pm's! haha and if nothing else the stinky clothes you are sleeping in will keep you good and knocked out...congrats on the weight loss...the numbers will get better! just kiu! thanks for the message! glad you are ok!!!!

It's Tuesday morning and it feels very strange not going out for a run.  But I'm trying to be sensible and let my legs recover.  I'm going to do a little core work before "real" work today, and I'm going to meet Torture Dan after work for an easy run.  Actually, I'm somewhat glad I'm not running this morning -- it's 32 degrees out there!  I shouldn't whine because we didn't have any of that snow that plagued parts north of here, but I am so ready for this cold weather to go away!

I gave up diet pepsi for lent, and I don't think I'll do the Sunday thing either.  Maybe this will end up as a permanent change.  I remember reading somewhere that if you do something for 20+ days it actually becomes a habit.

Next weekend is daylight savings time, and I can't wait!!!  That means more opportunity for bike riding after work.  I need to spend lots of the time on the bike now -- prep for 56 miles during the race.

Way to go Cheri and Nicole!!  Congratulations.

I got out this morning for my 2nd ride on the new bike. It was darned cold (33) and a little windier than the weather folks said it was going to be. I felt a little more confortable and went a little faster. Now that I have more gears and some that are lower than what I had before, I am not working as hard. My old bike made me sweat - it was heavier and I had to mash a bit on the small hills. I can tell already that I'm going to need to increase my leg strength to go after the bigger hills.

Also had a nice short swim that included 200 meters crawl without stopping - a new record for me.   I think that the link that Susie posted helped.   I definitely need to keep working on my head position and stop trying to pull  so hard.

Just wanted everyone to know where things stand right now. I'm not feeling well again. I will be taking a leave of absence from BT for the next 4 weeks because I don't feel I can give to everyone like I should...I'm going to just concentrate on myself right now, work is getting busier, and I will be going to Houston for a week to watch my daughter run at University of Houston for the college indoor track Nationals....they are ranked number 7th in the nation, so I'm very excited about going.
So I hope to check back in April to find you all having a great time training and preparing for your races.

To my hoosier Julie - I am praying to do the Vincennes Tri with you, keep going girl your doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will check in on you for you indoor tri this month.

To my sweetest Jules - thank you soooooooooooo much for always being here for me....you are truley a friend!!!!! Love you bunches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope to come back stronger and healthier, I just don't have the energy right now to keep up here and don't want you to think I don't care about you.

Love from Indiana,

I just got back from my tri club meeting but it's late and time for bed. I'll tell you about it in the morning.

Nite!

yay, you made it this month!

There was talk that they might cancel due to the snow, but they announced at 3:30 that the meeting was on. The roads were well cleaned so I arrived half an hour early and had a chance to chat with the club president and with some of the other members. Since I was a new member attending my first meeting I was given a club mug. During the meeting they had there first, monthly "tri-via" challenge. I was correctly able to answer that the first IronMan tri had 12 finishers; I won a goody bag of club tri clothing (mostly left overs of old stock, with no choice of sizes): tri shorts that may fit, sweatpants that are freakin' huge, a sweatvac do-rag, and running gloves. Not bad. There was also another give away for the lucky four who happened to be seated in the chairs with the blue X underneath.

The meeting included a presentation by a certified nutritionist who talked about nutrition and fueling for training and for racing. Her info was decent, but her presentation skills were not great.

There are two guys in the group that are doing the Race Across America (RAAM) this year as a two man team. Last year they were part of a four man team that did the race on fixies! They averaged a little over 19mph for the whole race!

There must have been around 50 in attendance! It was fun and I can't wait for the April meeting.

Hey everyone,

I'm feeling a lot better today.

And I'm almost close to my weight loss target for a reward of high-end female bike shorts! I wanted to use this as a reward because I've never been able to fit into high-end female bike shorts... almost all of the shorts I have are mens, and not really the nicest ones at that. I have one female pair of shorts - an XXL, and they are way too big for me now.

Does anyone have recommendation for brand? I want nice padding for longer rides.

I was looking at Castelli or Pearl Izumi Symphony Shorts. Both of them would be slightly under my current measurements ... my hips are huge!

good for you on the trivia thing! free swag is always nice! and a mug too! did you have your morning java in it this morning?

funny about RAAM...I have a good group of friends who do this race every year and have even won a few times! they are from bakersfield...strong strong riders...our good friend has a rv that he follows them in. He has offered us to go with them a few times! would be fun wouldnt it? he is their support, carries extras for them...explores routes on coming days....we actually borrow his rv...and used it to go to my sisters funeral and a few other long road trips...it has bike sponsors all over it, bike stickers on the back and RACE ACROSS AMERICA on all sides...so we definitely will get lots of looks on the road...especially got them as we pulled into the parking lot full of triathletes at the funeral...what team were they from do you know?

here is a link to the team I know:

http://raceacrossamerica.smugmug.com/search/index.mg?searchWords=bodyxchange&searchType=InUser&NickName=raceacrossamerica

some great pics...they race from West Coast to East Coast! crazy crazy CRAZY!

Im making it a priority to get back into the blogging game!

you made me smile when I saw you had posted !!!!Smile

made me have a HUGE smile!!
