I got an unexpected run done today with the CT BT peeps.  We were gonna ride but the weather was NASTY!  So, we went out for breakfast and then ran.  Good times.

Do it lots.

No really, the more you practice, the better off you are.  Last year I did weekly group OWS and it helped out a lot.

Out training!

Me too!  Got a nice run in -- beautiful, cool weather in Cleveland.  Much nicer than Florida stickiness!  Have a great Sunday everyone.

How/why do you feel that you "messed it up?"

Basically, the key to open water swimming is to just, well, practice it lots. Start out where the water is flat and calm. Then when you're comfortable with that, go to someplace where it's choppier/more wavy.

Get used to breathing on either side. This helps you breathe away from the chop. Also, you can sight the shoreline to gauge your distance.

Where is Dee?  I think I need a good tasing!  I finished my tri today, not 100% happy with my performance.  RR is up.  I need to run more and swim more, especially OWS with no wetsuit.  My weaknesses were readily apparent today, that is for sure.   I am going to sign up for another tri that is on the same course in July.  I think I can do better!  Please feel free to chime in with advice for me if you have any.

-Andy

I wasn't online yesterday. I can taser you today though, if you'd like!

I'm off to read the RR!

I don't know what is up with the team, but the last two days have been really quiet

(But I'm back now.)

Actually, where has Neal been? He does most of the post padding meaningful conversation....

So funny story.  I'm taking a shower tonight in my hotel room and shaving my legs.  I totally nicked one of the big veins running across the top of my foot.  This thing will not stop bleeding.  The maid is going to think I killed murdered someone when she sees my towel.

Anyway, no bandages so I had to ball up like 20 Kleenexes for a pad.  Then I rolled up the plastic laundry bag and tied it around the "pad" to apply pressure.

Yeah, I feel a little like MacGyver except without the cool hair.

You may think this is a funny story. But I'm wondering how the maid will feel about it.

Robert, have a safe trip up to the lake.  I take it you are going to the course for next weekend's tri?

Yep exactly what I did, it was fun to do all three sports on a training day

2nd Week's Team Standings for the June Challenge.....

It looks like we have a new leader....!

1st place - JUNE BUGS - 42.3%
2nd place - Taser Running - 39.8%
3rd place - Team Trifecta - 38.8%

What will happen NEXT week? Will Team June Bugs keep the lead? Will Team Taser Running break out the TASERS? Will Team Trifecta put on a strong showing and move up?

Stay tuned. The month is only 47% completed. The third update will be posted next week.

Stay motivated! Keep running! (And don't forget the secondary challenge: the POST PADDING challenge!)

I raced yesterday and then I visited my parents afterwards.  They reverted back to living in the stone age and don't have internet access.
