10:16? Awesome..I think the latest start I have ever seen around here is 8:30..with most being 7:00 or so.. I think because the race is in the middle of nowhere and they have race day packet pick up....plus to let the lake warm up a bit ....they are starting at 10 AM. Later season races by this group start earlier,=. |

I'm not sure I would want to start an oly that late. A sprint, maybe, but an oly would take me past lunchtime and into the afternoon. Are you making any nutrition adjustments for the late start? |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Update. My swim clinic was good. I did post in my blog, but apparently my issue is propulsion. We only worked on body position in the water and when I am thinking about it (which I obviously was last night), my body position is very good. This morning I did notice that I was significantly flatter when I wasn't thinking about it. But making no other change than that (because I haven't had the propulsion part of the clinic), I was quite a bit faster with just making the body position adjustment. Although I will say, making the body position adjustment did lead to other minor adjustments and I suspect that those contributed as well. So, I am guessing that the trick will now be to make this adjustment and the ones to come automatic. Hopefully it won't take too long to unbreak old habits and acquire new ones. I have to go to this meeting about once a month in Orange County and the main reason I go instead of sending a minion is that I am usually able to get in a bike ride. Today was such a day, but the silly thing went too long and there was no parking where I tried to ride and not enough time to play around with a Plan B. So, it looks like I am at home on the trainer tonight. Bummer. And because I am going to be out of town the next two weekends and no free afternoons left in the month, it doesn't look good for getting in another long ride in April. Not good. April is base building month and you need to ride in order to build your base. Happy training everyone! |

LOL My wave for the sprint starts at 10:12 Sunday...Purple cap!! WHOO HOO!!! I'm giving myself 2:15 for a final time...I'm hoping I'm overestimating. Chris ("running husband" as my running group calls him) says he'll text me 10:30 Sunday morning what time he thinks I should finish so we'll see if I'm on target or not. He's a good mentor because at least he tells me it's going to be hard but I've got the determination and will to do my HIM and that it's more mental than anything and I can push myself harder. So yesterday while we were running I tried to. I think I did ok, I was actually talking at times during the run portion and I never do that. Still doing activity this week but light before the race Sunday. Judi, I should be down there in time hopefully to see you off for the swim! If not I'll text your phone for your race # so your hubby can let me know!! |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Weight today..235.6. I am actually down almost 5 lbs from my high last week..but am up a few pounds for the month.. Running/Walking the stairs at red rocks amphitheater tonight. If it works out well I think I will incorporate the workout at least once a week to work on my right leg quad strength. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm excited for both of you, Judi and Keely, for your races this weekend. You guys are going to do terrific and have loads of fun. I'm jealous because I don't have any tris scheduled until the end of July. I might have to fix that though. Great job on the weight loss, Debb and Scott. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey all, I'm still the same weight I was last week. No movement whatsoever. Bah. Been so busy in class I haven't had time to get a good training session in, going to try to run at lunch time tomorrow - at least i'm getting some commuting miles in on the bike. Class is good so far. We sketched our frames today and start building the fork for our bikes tomorrow. Class is really keeping me on my toes - mentally exhausting! Will probably catch up with what's been going on with everyone this weekend. Now I have to go finish my taxes and go to bed! This would be a good time for y'all to start catching up to me! k |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sorry I missed yesterday but today I'm here at 179.8. Being under 180 for the first time in years and years is awesome. I had a good short run yesterday of 2.18 miles in 24 minutes which isn't fast for some but it was an 11 minute mile average for me. Heather |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hello everyone. If you need motivation for weight loss, check out the Terrible Finish Line Photos (or whatever the thread is called) over in Triathlon Talk. It is an old thread so lots of the older pictures are gone, but overall it is very, very funny. The moral of this story is that no one looks good crossing the finish line or even during a race, particularly not if you have excess weight. Keep in mind that the camera puts on ten pounds, so even if you DON'T have excess weight, the picture will make you look like you do. After reading all twenty or so pages of this thread, I have determined to lose thirty pounds before the time I race in a triathlon, which will probably be the end of July. Also, never grimace in pain, even if you don't see a photographer. Always look like you are having a WONDERFUL time, even if at that moment bamboo shoots under the fingernails seem like more fun. Never look at your watch, particularly at the finish line because that is the picture that will be taken. Anyway, check out that thread. It was quite funny. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I went by the bike shop to see if my new bike came in. It had, but he hadn't taken it out of the box yet, so he did. He didn't unwrap it or anything, but I could see that it is BEAUTIFUL. I'm going to Chicago this weekend, but I expect to pick it up on Tuesday. I am so excited. I will post pictures on Tuesday. |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I should post the picture of me crossing the finish at my first triathlon, Irongirl 2008. My bottom teeth are sticking out a little more and I've got this mean look on my face because I was trying to push to sprint across the finish...quite funny. But most of the pictures I've seen in other races I've seen the photographer and have a smile on my face and am waving like I'm out for a Sunday stroll..but I'll check out the thread. Judi - Can't wait to meet a fellow NUTSO finally!!!! I should be down there right about start time so I may not see you until you finish. I sent you a PM awhile back with my cell so text me your Race Number tonight so I can look for you!!! GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So excited for Leah! New bikes are great. Hah. I thought about posting to that bad-tri photo thread. I have a photo of me right after my Tri my first year where I look BEAT red and have that "Where the heck is my husband I want to go home and I'm tired of standing here" look on my face. But ehhhh.... |
