Master 1780 Boynton Beach, FL | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed This morning on my run (dusk), I saw a down palm frond at the last second. I skipped to the right and, although was able to avoid it, felt a stinger in my hip. Fast forward 3 hrs later and is still bothering me. Its like a hip stinger in the upper/back part of the hip (right side of the lower back). Pretty sure its not muscular. Was planning to go swimming this PM, but not sure if its a stupid thing to do. It's not really that painful, but it's there. Any experience with this? Will swimming make it better/worse? |

Regular 789 | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed 1:22 on the drainer this morning and a 46 minute swim at lunch. Both sessions felt pretty good. the bike I was able to keep my HR where I wanted it to be and on the swim I was able to swim the pace I was hoping for the main set. I am beginning to think that the last 20 weeks are starting to pay off

Regular 789 | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed ernestov - 2013-02-26 4:28 PM Adding a runch from today and a day off yesterday. Been taking a beatup at work, hopefully it will end soon. The good news is that Monday of last week the company that I work for posted an opening (long promised) for a person to help me do my job. Although the first few months he/she will be in training eventually it will alleviate my workload and I'll get more time to spend with the family and train!
Best of luck with that. I know how hard it is to juggle work, family and training. 4 kids with 3 teenagers and 1 a 2 1/2 year old that makes me more tired than doing a 2 hour trainer ride. I'm pretty fortunate with my work however where there is flexibility in it. I do think that it helps my boss's 2 brothers have done IM's before so he understands the training time required. |

Regular 789 | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed BigDaddyD79 - 2013-02-27 5:08 AM Updating for the last few weeks. Been crazy busy with work and trying to rehab the ITBS. Looks like I was able to get it under control and the strength training should hopefully keep it from coming back. I was able to run 7.5k on Sunday and then 5.4k yesterday with almost no pain. Hoping to be back up to my regular milage within the next few weeks. Mitch - Swim - 6 / Bike - 17 / Run - 23 / Rest -4 / Total 46 / Time - 37:50:19
ITBS I assume it band syndrome. I've had that over the last few years when I extend my running miles. I attempted the foam roller, doing certain stretches etc. What I have found that really works for me is standing on one foot with eyes closed on a bosu ball or just barefoot in the shower (hey I make best use of my time while I let the hot water beat down on me) . That does seem to be the best for myself. I know there are some strength exercises as well to do that I have done that might help but the standing on the one foot eyes closed works very well. Best of luck with becoming pain free. |
