So what's next on the list or what would be the next level of things I should procure? wet suit, tri-suit, tri-specific bike, hired coach, power meter? Just curious what my next purchase should be so I can look forward to it. What did you get that made a real difference?
Thanks for letting me pick your brains
Somewhat depends on what distance of races you aspire to.
I think for Olympic distance races
(and even the once and awhile HIM
) you can be just fine with a road bike. If you want to focus on long course racing
(HIM and IM
) then I would look at a tri-specific bike.
Wetsuit should be of value in any distance of race.
Power meter is the best thing I've purchased from atraining perspective to get stronger on the bike and to manage my race efforts.
Can't recall if you have a triathlon watch?
I race in tri bottom and separate top. However, I've never tried a tri-suit and given how much I like cycling bibs I bet I would love a tri-suit.
Coaching seems like a big investment. I may consider a coaching service if I pursue an IM but would likely still feel that I am disciplined enough and able to research the sport enough that I can get by on my own.
I guess I would order them as follows:
(1
) Wetsuit
(2
) Tri Watch
(3
) Power Meter
(4
) Tri-Specific bike
(5
) Tri suit
(6
) Coach
