Offthegrid - 2009-03-03 11:56 AM Hey everyone, I'm feeling a lot better today. And I'm almost close to my weight loss target for a reward of high-end female bike shorts! I wanted to use this as a reward because I've never been able to fit into high-end female bike shorts... almost all of the shorts I have are mens, and not really the nicest ones at that. I have one female pair of shorts - an XXL, and they are way too big for me now. Does anyone have recommendation for brand? I want nice padding for longer rides. I was looking at Castelli or Pearl Izumi Symphony Shorts. Both of them would be slightly under my current measurements ... my hips are huge!

I'm glad that you are feeling better.

My bike shorts are Pearl Izumi. I'm using the Ultrasensor now but have also used the Quest.

x2 on pearl izumi (my favorite brand)

not familiar with quest..but will be checking them out! I have never heard of them!? but I sometimes overlook many brands just to find my pearl izumi brands.

Ultrasensor and Quest are models of PI bike shorts. The ultrasensors have nicer padding.

This reminds me, I still have two pairs of these Quest shorts that are size large and too big on me. Can anyone use them?

what size? that is one area I am lacking in is shorts....but only if you let me buy you a Starbucks card or something!!!

Size large

BTW, my stud training partner has "Pilates for Dummies," and she says there's no way it's for beginners. She is the fittest chick I know, so if SHE says it's impossible, I have to wonder who on earth can do this stuff?

i just got back from running. it was pretty good. 7.5 miles. not very fast-1.29.19
but as i posted in my log, i WOULD have been faster if it hadn't been for that stupid cougar. EVERY time i go down that freaking road, i have a cougar encounter. what i need is maybe a giant pepper spray or something, still, i ended up just creeping that last mile because i was spooked out.

All I ever see is the occasional cat, bunny, or deer. Mostly it's walkers and dogs.

I had my repeat visit to the hand doctor. I told him that there was some improvement but that I was far from better. He asked if I'd call the improvement 50% or less than 50%. I said less. We decided to go for a cortisone shot. I'm supposed to continue wearing the splint through to the weekend and then start weaning off of it.

LOL...you had me spewing gatorade on my computer...too funny! Lyssa used to run with six shooters in her pocket! and if she didnt have her gun, she would have her trusty husband pile the kids in the car and follow her....she even had a time when he kept making her run...when she was done...he would not stop to let her in the car...he was doing it in a funny way not being mean! HAHA lot different for me the worst I run into are pit bulls! haha...we did actually hear about but never saw some mountain lions on the trail we rode last week...the forest ranger was out warning all the trail users...we almost ran into his truck which was on the trail...I guess that is one way to get our attention!

but I agree with Julie H...time to get a six shooter...or borrow Dees taser! haha

Another way to get there is to use the Races button under a person's profile on their log page or on the bottom of their posts here. That will get you to a list of all the races a person has done as well as those they are planning to do.

I just got back from my tri club meeting but it's late and time for bed. I'll tell you about it in the morning.

Nite!

yay, you made it this month!

There was talk that they might cancel due to the snow, but they announced at 3:30 that the meeting was on. The roads were well cleaned so I arrived half an hour early and had a chance to chat with the club president and with some of the other members. Since I was a new member attending my first meeting I was given a club mug. During the meeting they had there first, monthly "tri-via" challenge. I was correctly able to answer that the first IronMan tri had 12 finishers; I won a goody bag of club tri clothing (mostly left overs of old stock, with no choice of sizes): tri shorts that may fit, sweatpants that are freakin' huge, a sweatvac do-rag, and running gloves. Not bad. There was also another give away for the lucky four who happened to be seated in the chairs with the blue X underneath.

The meeting included a presentation by a certified nutritionist who talked about nutrition and fueling for training and for racing. Her info was decent, but her presentation skills were not great.

There are two guys in the group that are doing the Race Across America (RAAM) this year as a two man team. Last year they were part of a four man team that did the race on fixies! They averaged a little over 19mph for the whole race!

There must have been around 50 in attendance! It was fun and I can't wait for the April meeting.

good for you on the trivia thing! free swag is always nice! and a mug too! did you have your morning java in it this morning?

funny about RAAM...I have a good group of friends who do this race every year and have even won a few times! they are from bakersfield...strong strong riders...our good friend has a rv that he follows them in. He has offered us to go with them a few times! would be fun wouldnt it? he is their support, carries extras for them...explores routes on coming days....we actually borrow his rv...and used it to go to my sisters funeral and a few other long road trips...it has bike sponsors all over it, bike stickers on the back and RACE ACROSS AMERICA on all sides...so we definitely will get lots of looks on the road...especially got them as we pulled into the parking lot full of triathletes at the funeral...what team were they from do you know?

here is a link to the team I know:

http://raceacrossamerica.smugmug.com/search/index.mg?searchWords=bodyxchange&searchType=InUser&NickName=raceacrossamerica

some great pics...they race from West Coast to East Coast! crazy crazy CRAZY!

I didn't use the mug this morning because I didn't eat breakfast at home.

The RAAM guys are Adam Driscoll and Patrick Blair of Adventures For the Cure

Thanks, I will look for them.....I cant imagine racing across the america in 5+days. It takes me a day to drive across Texas going at a good rate of speed....just amazes me they can start in California and go alllllll the way to the North East coast! and you know I love to ride my bike, too!!! but not like that! I would not be able to sit on my tush for a long time after a race like that. haha

I moved out last night.

My marriage has not been good for a long time, but since we tried a separation, things got better for a month or two. But last night was the last straw. We had a fight, a normal fight, but then he threatened me. I know for real I cannot go back.

I'm scared. So scared. And I cannot even begin to say thank you to my friend who is letting me stay with her.

Funny the things you think of not having. I don't have a scale, so I don't know if I made 195 or not this morning. I would think so, because despite all the stress, I did not eat junk food. And today I won't. And tomorrow I won't. For the first time, I was stressed out and I did not want to overeat in secret.

Because now I have only two missions in life: Train and get divorced. Nothing else matters.
