Now you won't know what to do with them both being on the same vacation schedule. So today is the first day of the new school year with both kids in school. I can't believe my daughter is a senior! Eek! J started a new school this year--he's now on a traditional calendar, so I won't have the crazy on again-off again of the year round school schedule this year. Hallelujah!!!
I'll probably be lurking a bit today--the CO detector in the house was going off this morning, so I am currently on the back porch, waiting for the tech from the HVAC company to come measure the levels and tell me what I'm supposed to do now. (and of course, Hubby is out of the country. Go figure.). Hope the CO levels get better, and yes, hubby's are always gone when the strange things happen. |

Text her.Originally posted by givemashot I'm actually really hungry. Do I: a) go in the kitchen and quickly fix something to eat, or b) tough it out. The tech should be here any time now.... You think it is CO2, correct? I'd open some windows and go make myself a sandwich. If you're only in there for a few minutes you should be fine. Or just order something you can have delivered. |

Well I am too late.... Open the window and door to get cross breeze. Fix it and run.. now that it is too late. Sorry I wasn't around, I was out shopping with Mom and couldn't get to the phone while driving. Now for a conference call and a nap. DON"T PULL THE WEEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

On Sunday a high school senior attempted to commit suicide. They were taken to the hospital and put on life support. They passed away last night. They were 4 days into their senior year of high school. They had their whole life ahead of them. Two suicides in less than 2 weeks is 2 too many. |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: Ghoulies Springing into action Originally posted by ceilidh That is very sad. I don't know if I ever shared with you all that our son attempted suicide when he was in 10th grade. Very rough time for the whole family. We all went through lots of counseling to get through the next couple of years. He is doing great now. A slow started, finally moved out of the house at the age of 29, but I also blame that on us for being enablers when he was out of work, but I also look at that as being supportive and not throwing him on the street. Anyway, the best advice that I can tell any parent is to keep talking "with" not "at" your kids/teens, and make sure they are communicating back with you. I think that is really what saved our son was the open line of communication between us, so we had already figured out that something was up and had started counseling before his attempt which helped us to get a jump on it so quickly. It was the worst time of my life, even worse than the cancer.Originally posted by ironannekidd Good morning Ghoulies! It is another sad day here in my little part of the world. I am so very, very, very (x 1000000) that you all made it out of that dark tunnel! It is hard to know the line between supportive and enabling. Leaning towards the over protecting is WAY better than the other way. I hope things work out with his current situation with his girlfriend!!! |

I knew my blue car would never make the trip. I'd have been super screwed if it would have died somewhere along the way! So I never made any kind of plans to come down. Once I had the new car I had no $ (stupid down payment). I will do my best to make it down next year. I may be flying solo, since Caleb will just be starting high school, but that's ok, I deserve a break. |

Ann, I don't even have the words, but I will try. I am so sorry that your community is gong through this! Death is hard enough, but whenit is a young vibrant person it is much more difficult. 2 deaths too many, for certain. Edited by givemashot 2013-08-27 11:30 AM |

I would love to be there--it's just a really tricky time of year for us, with both kids starting school (The Girl will be starting college next year---eek!), The Girl's birthday, 3 of my inlaws with birthdays in the last week of August (and the expectation that we visit for a family reunion at that time...), and Hubby is almost always out of town in the second half of August. I had actually told my family about the olympiad the last 2 summers--this summer they were really interested in going, the timing just didn't work out. |
