I have all sorts of fun eye medicine at home, from my experience in September and from the one time I DID get pink eye. Will see what works...just don't tell DerekL or the other resident drs on BT, or I might get flamed Uh, I'm no M.D. but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that putting a whole bunch of medication in your eye for something that you may or may not have is probably not a great idea. Just sayin'. ETA: Take it with a grain of salt; keeping in mind that when I say something isn't a 'great idea', I ate a dozen KK donuts this weekend and promptly threw them up. Hey, do you have any pictures from the KK challenge? i'm waiting for my friend to get them to me. then i'll post. |

Just sayin'. Not all at once. I have eye drops from the last time my eye looked like this, if it's the same thing, it'll help. If it's not, it won't do anything. They're just stronger than the drops I currently use every day. how do you know it won't do anything? there are always some side effects that you'd probably be best to avoid especially if it's for some minor irritation, etc. They're anti-inflammatory drops. My eye is definitely inflamed. I figure it's worth a shot. And I'm not nearly crazy enough to eat a dozen Krispy Kremes while running...
my eyes are actually red every day nowadays it seems....its too dry out and heat isn't helping either! leave the contacts out. is your eye leaking? b/c if its conjunctivitis you'd basically be unable to open your eye with all the crap stuck in it. You might have scratched if you rubbed your eye or something. Get it looked at. I don't play with eyes, it ain't worth it. They'll give you the drops look at it, and tell you to leave out your contacts for 48 hours. Its worth it. Hell, I'm going to be Mr Magooing it for the next 3 weeks till my hopefully pre-surgery appointment...maybe I'll even get some Rex-Spex so I can look cool like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. |

No, my eye isn't oozing, thankfully. And it's better today - looked a lot better when I went to bed. I think it's because it's SO dry everywhere I am. My office is dry, it's dry out and my room is really dry. Wearing glasses once again in the hopes that they will be fine by Friday night - can't go to the retreat in my glasses... |

Honestly, (and I speak from no experience here) I think being mentally ready for an IM means that you are going to be willing to accept all of the pitfalls that come along the way during training and on race day and figure out how to work through them. I'd be willing to bet that only a tiny percentage of the people preparing for an IM make it to race day without having something relatively major interfere with themselves being "Lauren ready" at the start line. It's just the nature of the beast and certainly part of the process. Look at our ironmen on this thread and see what they went through, shelly crashed her Elite and broke her collarbone and missed a few key weeks of training and 3558 |

Though I wonder exactly what kind of "ready" that is? I am hoping to complete a Half before I'm 30, assuming my knees hold up...Not even thinking about a full IM until after 30, realistically. I guess I could say, before 30, but I'm also just not naturally an athlete, and not sure my body could be ready that fast. |
