Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey guys. Will get my race report up to tonite. At a work conference today & tomorrow & my fingers are not that limber on my iPhone to do it. Didn't get to meet up with Judi but I did see her run past me barefoot when I was in my truck getting ready to leave!! Sprint Sunday was ok. I thought I was kicking it on the bike as I passed about 4-5 people but did 12 miles in 52 minutes. Yuck! But my 5K was under 45 min so I'm getting better at pushing myself. Swim sucked!! I think I had an anxiety attack because I had trouble breathing the entire time. Good thing Judi warned me about the choppiness because I ended up doing the entire half mile swim on my back. I couldn't get a rhythmn or anything. One positive was that at least I stayed on course. I swam into the buouy at one point! Poor guy talking to me during transition. I was stripping the wetsuit off and peed right there!! Wetsuit around my ankles but I had to go!! LOL I just kept on talking and hosed myself off with my water bottle for my feet. Oh well! I also was successful in blowing my first snot rocket. LOL sorry disgusting info but I look at each success as an achievement! However, second one went all over my arm. Then onto my bike glove LOL. I actually passed 3-4 people on the run. Wow. That's huge for this turtle!! Once I survived the swim I had fun. Pretty sure all of my photos I'm cheesing hardcore!! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Week two of the swim clinic. I was told I was rotating TOO much. I don't think I over-rotate in regular swimming - I just think I was doing it last night in trying to rotate enough. So, I need to practice rotating enough, but not too much. I also have a weak hand entry and need to work on that. I didn't swim this morning because I took the day off today and am going to go get my new bike and take it out for a ride. Will report back with pictures later. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Love these race reports! Thanks Keely and Heather. You guys did it!! Keely cracked me up with her peeing in transition and snot rockets. We have a hard core group! Wow!! Everyone is doing great. Be proud of your accomplishments. Gail - thanks for the info on the try clubs. That was helpful. I think I need some encouragement and buddies to swim with. ASU has a tri club but they are young hard bodies. Not sure that is the best fit but they work out where I work. I could be their mom. Scott - Love the new profile pic and the photo on your work out. Glad to hear you are firming up your race schedule. I think it will be fun to visit your family for a race weekend. Leah - Cool that you are getting feed back on your swim. You are kicking butt! Can't wait to hear about your bike. Post pics ASAP!! Debb - I want to hear about your group ride. Did you like it? Judi - At least you know you the choppyness was a challenge for other people too. The swim . . . UGH. I'm in the same boat. Right now I am avoiding the swim, hoping it will disappear. Kiri - Update us on your new bike. Is it coming together? Go Nutsos Go!! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hello everyone. How was your day? Did you do anything interesting? Do you want to hear about my day? I could talk about my bike ride and getting lost. How does one get lost on a bike trail? Or I could talk about how getting lost made me not have enough time to get my new bike. Bummer. Or I could mention that Chuck and I got married this afternoon. OK. I'll start with that. Chuck and I have been living together for ten years and it hasn't been a big deal, married or not, because there are no children or prospect of any. But the last time he went into the hospital (his third time in about the last five or six years), it just hit me that this is really the way it is going to be and at some point, not having any real legal standing was going to be an impediment. Yeah, I know we could do the Power of Attorney thing, but what if the paperwork was lost or something. I just wanted to be "legal." So we decided to get married. This was in January and it has taken that long to research getting married, finding a suitable ring (it's a stunner, let me tell you) and just figure things out. Yesterday was the last element to fall in place with "Frank the Marrying Guy" being available this afternoon. So, I took the day off at the last minute, which was supposed to also give me the time to get my new bike fitted. So, we did it this afternoon. Now, about my bike ride. They were repaving the bike path. Starting out, I just walked my bike along where they were working. Coming back, I had to go off the trail. I thought I was riding parallel to the bike path, but apparently I wasn't and it took me a while to find it - with the help of the map app on my iPhone. But this part took so long that I didn't have time to get my new bike. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Leah - Congrats!!! how exciting even though it was a low key thing 'tis still very cool... I have friends who just did the same thing last year after being together like 10+ years as well. Just off quickly got married one afternoon. In her case it was similar... legal reasons... aka Health Insurance. Kate - Okay let me dig out the ride info from my log. I'll re post a bit of it here later today. Had fun. Weigh in: 181 (-1) We retested on the bike last night my power actually went down 3 watts but I covered more MPH so I think the computrainers were just calibrated differently (since we quickly do them each time and are always on a different trainer) Not going to be bummed about it because I KNOW I'm stronger then 8 weeks ago as the MPH on my Garmin show. (Went from 19.4 to 19.8) The Garmin was the only constant in that situation. Plus I think legs may have been a little tired from this last weekend still. Edited by IdealMuse 2010-04-21 10:30 AM |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Congrats Leah & Chuck!!!! I'm still laughing about the race Saturday. Went to my chiropractor Monday and told him I had my first race of the season and he asked "How'd you feel about it?" and I started talking about how the swim sucked, but I was ok, the bike, etc..then he said "How did YOU feel you did" and I looked at him and was like, "Well, you know, I'm pretty happy about it overall"..which is true. I could dream about all of the sudden getting Chrissie Wellington like speed and agility and grace in triathlon, but let's be realistic, it ain't happening...so I looked at how I felt overall after surviving the swim. I thought I did well on the bike regardless of my time and the run I'm happy I kept up my intervals and got a better time. So I'm just hoping to progress and survive my HIM! Been at a conference past 2 days and feel exhausted tonight so no workout. Going to bed early on this chilly rainy evening. My mother also told me that back home snot rockets are called "Farmer's Blow"...LOL..figures. I'm learning so much more than I ever expected in this sport! I bought the Aquacell hydration bottle Monday night and am going to fit it (hopefully) on my aerobars this weekend before my 43 mile ride for the Howard County LifeFest. Pretty excited to try the dual chambers and not have to reach down for my water bottle!! Next up is to find a decent transition bag. The vendor at Rumpass had a couple Blue Seventy models for sale. The backpack kind for $65 and the bigger one for $120. But that's all they had and I wasn't going to jump the gun for it so online search is on! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi all, Woah, today I am completely fried after our day in the shop. The bike is coming along, I did a few more things after posting the mid-day photo in my blog - namely rough cutting the seat stays, getting them slotted for the drop outs and began the process of scalloping the top to fit up to the seat post lug. EXHAUSTED. We've been on our feet for the past three days from 8am - 5pm... Can I log bike building as a sport? Sawing, filing, brazing are hard work! Coupled with the fact I completely don't know how to hydrate or fuel while doing this... There must be a nutrition strategy for frame building - am sure it involves beer and pizza at some point (pizza i've had, beer i haven't - yet). Tomorrow the frame should be just about complete. I'm both ready to finish and ready to end this class, but i'm also ready to try my next bike (which may be a while). Anyway, hope to get a run in tonight after some napping - i'm a little behind... Swim are impossible to fit in to the time schedule. Rides, not too worried about it, will be able to get in a 70-75 miler this weekend (as long as the weather holds). Weight was 213 this morning - so back where I started. At least I'm maintaining even without the full training schedule - so that's good news. I'll get back on the wagon and hopefully drop a couple pounds before the end of the month! Congrats to all the recent racers - I haven't had time to check into race reports fully, i'll probably hit those this weekend... Congrats also to Leah and Chuck! Keep trucking folks. Hopefully my next post will be a completed frame - and then the real fun begins - the build and deciding what color will it be to send to powder coater!? |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 193. Up 1. I'll get the list later. I went to the doctor today and got some prescription meds. I'm hoping it helps b/c I feel like I've been hit by a truck. My eyes hurt so badly that I couldn't put my contacts in and I feel the pressue going into my ears. Here is to a better day tomorrow. The good thing about the day was that I met my hubby after my appointment and went to a couple bike shops to check out aero bars. It was fun. We went into one the shops that has a tri team. They are known for being a little snobby but they have a great shop. I'm tempted to join their team. I'll keep researching. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Kate - They let anyone on the team or do you have to get selected? Keel - Chiropractor Sounds like a wise man Leah - Hows married life? Hah ha. Kir - Do you plan on building out the frame to a full bike soon? What color you going to paint it? I hit a "overweight" BMI today so I'm pretty psyched. Telling anyone that feels like listening. ![]() Trying to figure out what gearing to get on my bike. More about that in my log. Right now debating between a 13-26 and 13-29. Just a short run today and strength. Gotta do the strength it's the only thing I've been bad about missing sessions on. Not that I don't like strength training just not in this format. I prefer classes and videos. Edited by IdealMuse 2010-04-22 1:49 PM |

Everytime I saw the camera I made sure to smile..it looked like I was having the time of my life!!! Here's a link to my photos..if anyone cares to see..I definitely feel like I'm toning in my upper body, I can tell compared to other pics on my profile page. Hopefully it doesn't rain too hard this weekend, we've got a 44 mile bike ride planned Sunday and I'd like to actually do it! |

It really isn't to see if we can drown ourselves or other such interesting outcomes. |
