But I feel that way, I have had two solid weeks of feeling down in the dumps and my lack of any real training is only magnifying my feeling of utter tiredness. I don't know what it is but I have had a huge reduction in my appetite and have even had some feelings of nausea when I am eating. This has led to fatigue and poor sleeps, on top of that we have switched to longer shifts at work, and I feel like it is all just coming together to kick the $hit out of me. I know that getting in some exercise will be good for me, I just have no motivation at all. Sorry for my absence lately guys, I am really trying to get back on track here. anyone else had similar sypmtoms/crappy times.....any advice out there beer drinkers? Did I write this?
I guess we are both stuck in similar rough patches eh Cynthia? How are you tackling it. I am just trying to increase my quality sleep, and stay off the junk foods. Please share any and all tactics for gastro issues, I'll try anything!!! |

Feels good since when I was lucky enough to get into the BDAS I weighed in at 235 on the dot. Still a long ways to go but I can see the progress and the food choices are really paying off. Got a long day of workouts today and gonna hit it hard. Have a great day everyone! strong work!!! |

Veteran 340 Dallas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed regarding my return to running, my online BT coach wants me to start running shorter daily runs. My logs are up to date and I think i will shoot for about 15 miles this week with 5 runs of 3 miles. The tricky part comes with the taper. Maybe try for a total of 18-20 miles in the second week and then taper in the third week for the race?

Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed If it looks like rain it WILL rain . It wasn't raining when I went out but then started to sprinkle. Well that didn't last and it began to pour. Cut the ride short by 10 minutes since there was no point in staying out. Still got in 36 minutes and 10 miles. Maybe I need to ride in the rain more, it makes me faster....lol. I best get used to it since I live in the land of rain during the summer. |

Is the race you HIM? If so, that sounds sound. How's it feel right now? What are your goals for this race, given the injury, and having to adjust for that?

Veteran 238 New Mexico | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Good morning everyone hope you are all having a great morning! Back to work today for me, feet still a bit sore, but legs and hips are feeling better. Weighed in this morning and after over last week and weekend I actually gained 4 pounds! Aren't you supposed to lose weight after completing a marathon? Anyway, feeling pretty good and ready to get back to normal training. I don't think that will include running this week, maybe this weekend, but for now I am going to get as many miles in on the new bike as possible and hope that helps some of the soreness get worked out! Still waiting on times to be posted for the race so I can complete my race report. Have a great day! |

Veteran 340 Dallas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed This is the time of the season when all of us have body part issues. Uggggg. I hope hips/knees and shoulders resolve soon. 25 mile bike this am, small break (kids to school) and then 3 mile run. Knee pain there but not as bad and no muscle weakness. I will try to avoid running much on bike days. My running is usually so bad that bricks do not really effect me. To answer Kevin's question, my goal for this HIM in 2.5 weeks is to get to the starting line and the finishing line. I expect to walk a fair amount in the run just to protect my ITB. I am going to try to have fun with it and know that it is a big challenge that is being made bigger by this leg issue. |

It is super annoying when I mouse near them and a damn pop up coves my screen telling me to buy this or save here and win this. Are you kidding me that BT allows advertising in peoples posts now? It is something new I noticed. Either that or I have a nasty bug on my pc causing these. HELP me!!! ** rant over** but seriously I'm going crazy here with this. Makes me not even want to read posts anymore. |

I'd be worried for you heading into a big event like that if you were out to crush some time goal. If you just run when comfortable and walk the rest, you'll do great and not be too laid up for your next one. Slow and steady is the motto here. Wishing you a great last 2.5 weeks of training. Don't be afraid to pull the plug on the running, or shorten the 3 milers to 2, or 1.5 milers. Your not building stamina at this point. Be good to get to the line as injury free as possible. This is the time of the season when all of us have body part issues. Uggggg. Give some thought to stretching before hoping on the bike and when you get off it. When I did my HIM, I found that my ITB kept bugging me and stretching helped (I probably lost 10 minutes off my time - but I got to the finish line)... Also give some thought to taking Ibuprofen later in the race. For me, the pain got bad going into the run and I took 600 mg at the first water station on the run. It upset my stomach but by that point, the pills were worth it. Finally, and I'm not joking here - find out what beer is at the finish line. It will give you something to think about as you head towards that finish line. Enjoy every minute. You've earned it! |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Hi All - I'm still here. Made it to the pool today and got in 600 yards. Not my best swim but it's done. Tonight I'm hoping to get a quick run in before watching a little basketball. Hope every one is still plugging away. It's good to see so many of us continuing to fight the good fight. To put in all in perspective... I checked the forum I was in last year that DH started in late December. Do you all know when we made it to 100 pages? OCTOBER! The fact that we will get it done by the end of March says not only how committeed y'all are but how supportive of each other you are as well! Keep it up. Last night I enjoyed what I consider to be the best imperial IPA in the World... Heady Topper out of VT. Don't pass up a chance to try this stuff although the only one with a real shot is Lenny. Hell, I can't even get it here in MA. The nose on the stuff is amazing. So frickin good! |

Connecticut | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Hey all,I haven't really posted in a few days but I've been reading all the support and good suggestions. Missed a workout. Monday but did a workout video Tuesday morning after shoveling snow. Followed by a few hrs of racquetball at nightGot a 5k in last night but cramped the whole time. Hamstrings are tight from squats and didn't drink any water all day. Lesson learned. Got up early today and got a 30 min 5k in not my best but considering I finished with a stomach cramp that lasted the entire run Im happy with it. Hit the pool after. Got 1000 yds in a little under 21min. Includes rest. I used to swim in high school mid and long distance so it's always frustrating when I swim. Did 200s in 3 min today. Used to do those in under 2 min like it was nothing. But hey that was 12 yrs and 80lbs ago.Feeling good hoping for a morning swim tomorrow and another workout video. Feel like it's a quick full body workout. Edited by lp3510 2013-03-21 9:26 AM |

Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Thanks but I need the help of all you folks that have raced before. As May 11th gets closer I can't help but think I'm not going to be ready due to the knee problems. It seems as soon as one thing feels better the other one goes to crap. Is skipping the May sprint and doing a July race something I should be thinking of or should I be getting that out of my mind? I go for my MRI on the 29th then the doc probably the following week so I will have an idea what's going on, he said it's just to be safe and not to worry at all. I have a bazillion knots all over my good leg and think that may be where the new pain is coming from. I'm just worried that I may not be ready. Is this something everyone goes through for their first race or do I have reason to be nervous? Who knows maybe it's my mind creating excuses. |

Champion 5312 Calgary | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed so, hey. Still alive. Not really checking in. My groin feels a bit better. Started running a bit this week. Not too much pain. It just feels like I should excercise it. Not push it, but keep it mobile. Anyways, started the 100 pushup challenge. Doing it just about every day. Using this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.superphunlabs.pushups&hl=en it is free and cool. Anyways, done week 2 and I did an exhaustion test. Got 31 done. A little less than I was hoping for. But the app said I am on track to start week 3 so here it goes.
