So last Wednesday as I had said I woke up to a flat and blew up my first spare going to fast so I was out of tubes. Biked 37 on Saturday and 34 on Sunday without one but with people who I could bum one off of. So this morning out the door before official sunrise at 5:27 AM I go over a hill and take a drink and look up to see a couple dozen small rocks in front of me. I of course clip one perfectly and knew I had popped the back, #%^Q%!^%!!!!! So I'm 6.36 miles from home but a half mile from a friends house so I walk there but they're still sleeping and it's only 6 AM so I'm like ok I'll just keep walking.

An old guy pulls over in his pickup and says can I give you a lift, SCORE!. I put the bike in the back and it turns out he cycles and used to run a lot back in the day before the knees went. We even know some of the same people. He has to be pushing 70 and is still out there and a super nice guy to boot. I definitely owe my new friend Lenny a beer or coffee when we cross paths again.

So I did a quick change at home and ran 7 miles out of the Y in place of my ride.

Lunch today I think I'll be buying some tubes so I'm not feeling completely remiss a second time.

Hard Masters workout this morning with lots of pull-buoy.  My scrawny cyclist's torso isn't used to so much shoulder work...

Today was hill repeats on the treadmill (7 of them) and a recovery ride.  Should have my disc back from the graphics guy soon.

Ran 10 today which is the most since Williamsburg. Felt really good for about 8.5 of it and then started to fade. It didn't help that a lot of the ascents came in that last 1.5.

3000m at Masters this morning - a combination of drills and endurance work.  I feel a little worn out today, as I've felt all week, even though Monday was a rest day and I've gotten enough sleep all week.  Speculating that the worn out feeling is my body getting used to the higher training load I've put on it this week.  If that's the case, I ought to feel more energized next week, right?

Hey everyone! I have been running and running and running, oh and a wee but of riding. MCM is just over two months away!

I got a little good news on a job with the County Schools. I have made it through the first screening and my inside source said they loved my résumé. Hopefully there is an interview soon.

Hope everyone has a blessed day!

Jen, can't wait to hear about how much fun it was and how much butt you kicked!!

Thanks, everyone! The race was an amazing experience. I learned a lot about triathlon (and myself). It's one thing to read about it, and it's another thing to do it. Lots of highs and lows.

I'm dealing with a lot of residual fatigue. I'm fighting off some sort of ugly virus right now. I definitely plan on writing up a race report for this race. I want to do it soon so I don't forget the deets. My kids started school today so the morning was busy. Once I feel healthy again, I will work on it.

Thank you so much for the support! I appreciate it!

One of the questions people keep asking me is if I want to do another one. Yes! Absolutely! I'm looking at the Full Rev Cedar Point in Sept. 2014. I did fill out the athlete survey for IMMT yesterday, and they randomly select one for a free entry into IMMT 2014. I would go again next summer if I got a free entry. Kevin and I already talked, and I'm doing IMMT again in 2015. I'll do it again simply for that bike course. It was insanely awesome Epic race. Super hilly bike and lots of hills on beginning and end of run, too. If you're looking for a beautiful, challenging course...head up to Quebec.

A little slow in the forum lately. Running has been going pretty good. I have been busy with interviews this week so hopefully something good comes out of it. I had my first sub 10 min Z1 mile run the other day. Pretty cool feeling to see all the progress from this season. MCM is only 9 weeks away!!

Sorry I've been so quiet lately gang.  Things got really hectic at work, and on top of that secretly interviewing for a new job.  I've accepted the verbal offer, just waiting on the official letter from HR to put in my notice.

This past weekend I did participate in the Super Spartan at the Wintergreen resort in VA.  Talk about a tough race, although race isn't really what it was.  I did it as a team with some other friends and we just went at the pace of the slowest person.   It was insane though, the people who regularly run the spartan races said this was by far the most difficult course they'd ever had.  Even more so than their beast runs, and some even said worse than their elite run which is marathon distance.  I wore my 910XT just to track us better, and it recorded a total elevation gain through the race of 5,061 ft.  Definitely feeling sore today.

So I raced an Oly on Saturday.  Took 4th in my AG.  Not my best race.  Took a heel pretty square at the first buoy.  Really knocked me kinda loopy and then I noticed my my goggles were full of water.  Kind of a FUBAR'd swim all around.  Once out of the water my HR strap wasn't pairing with anything so I had to wing it.  Looking at my run numbers I was slow.  I didn't really get passed at all so IDK.  The 95 degree heat may have something to do with it.  I'm really looking forward to 5150 Galveston Sept 22nd to fix my swim and have a bit cooler temps.  I think qualifying for HyVee is pretty realistic.

That's the worst when that happens and I would bet it FUBAR'd your bike and run too.

You know my bike was ok.  I could have pushed harder out of T1.  I didn't realize the wind was at my back and since my HR wasn't pairing with my bike CPU seeing 24+ mph told me I needed to dial it back a little.  As far as my run I've been having issues falling into a groove early in runs since IMTX and this one was no different.  The run course was 3 loops of 2.1 (my watch says 2.24) miles.  My third loop was my strongest.  Go figure.
