Expert 657 Portland | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread I wouldnt sat it was flat by any means. You are almost always either going up hill, or going down hill. Since it is an out-and-back, the down hills will pretty much equal the up hills, but less than 20% of the course will feel flat. Luckily, there are plenty of water stops and a ton of crowd support. If we get 8 or more people we would get 10% off. If anyone wants to meet up with us and have some fun let me know and we can make some arrangements. Here is a link to the zip line tour site http://www.alpinezipline.com/. See you at Timberman! Scott |

Not so sure i will be physically capable of this on Monday.......... |

Pro 4828 The Land of Ice and Snow | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread So lets forget about the silly race for one second and discuss whats REALLY important: where are we getting together after the race to drink beer??? Anyone familiar with the area that can make a recommendation? The thought of food and fun with BT peeps will go a long way at around mile 12 of the run........ |

Member 55 Mid Ohio | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread The main focus for me at Timberman is the race, but for my wife this is a vacation. As a mater of fact this is our first trip without our children. Therefore if I can not move on Monday she will likely kick my butt because she intends to have lots of fun while we are in NH. I think if I eat well after the race and hang out in the lake for a while (simulated ice bath) I will be fine on Monday. I will be Zip Lining if they have to carry me to the first launch. Besides the zip lines were my idea to begin with. As for drinking beer after the race, I am planning on hanging out at the Timberfest party following the race. Maybe I will see you all there. |

Champion 6046 New York, NY | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread yeah but is it really all LITE beer?????? eeeewwwww. Can I stash a few (or more) real beers for our crowd??? if not we will have to get a cooler and stock it with the good stuff.... I think the lure of a margarita is going to get me through the ENTIRE run not just from mile 12.... Edited by TriToy 2009-08-08 5:17 PM |

Member 41 | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread starting to get very excited for the race. We are getting there on Wednesday with our three kids...doing the auto ride to Mt. Washington, enjoying the area, rock wall at Gunstock etc... My 18yo son has volunteered and is doing body marking for the Sprint on Saturday. He has an OLY race next Sunday here in Ohio. My 15yo daughter is doing the Sprint distance here in Ohio on that Sunday, also. 10 yo daughter hasn't done her first tri yet. We are doing the Sunday night Lobster Party, and looking forward to experiencing our first BIG triathlon. Have done quite a few local ones where there were a few hundred or so participants. Barb |

Regular 1025 | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread there will be a few more than a couple hundred at Timberman. We have more than a couple of hundred VOLUNTEERS FOR THE BIKE COURSE alone. I believe we also have close to a couple of hundred police (185+), too As for the beer, there is Coors Light and something a little more "substantial", I'm sure |

You are gonna do the same elevation anways, so why not do it on some smoother road. I remember that stretch of pavement, and I think it ate my tire on my last training ride on that road. I guess making the extra turns will be the only thing slowing you down. Ill take it! |

Regular 1025 | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread trust me, if we didn't think it was an improvement, we wouldn't have done it. It also means 3 additional turns we have to manage/control 106 has been mostly repaved, and is awesome. For reasons unbeknownst to me, they decided to avoid repaving the ONE stretch of 106 that actually needed to be repaved..... So, we're gonna eliminate that part on the return trip, and you'll have nice smooth pavement. I have an newsletter going out to all athletes today, letting everyone know. The Police like it better too, as the turnaround is safer now too.... |
