I have a hubby who travels alot, but is otherwise very supportive of my tri quest. I haven't done any tris yet, but I am planning to do a sprint in May of this year. I was a swimmer in my former life, but was never avle to run without pain, or bike. So far, I'm liking this multi sport world. A little expensive, but fun! Glad to meet you all! |

Extreme Veteran 597 New Joisy | Subject: RE: Team Lively Lava I I am Tammy, I haven't figured out my goals yet, but will by tonight. I am an independent consultant to the pharmaceutical industry that has the luxury of working out of my home and taking care of my three kids(14, 12, 7) all at the same time! In between all that I try to find time to workout, but sometimes my clients can be as immature as my 7 yo and demand a lot of attention. I am a swimmer at heart and have swum competitively since I can remember....about the age of 5 I think. I love to bike, and running....well I just have to do that to finish the tri's. |

I think swimmers aren't cut to be runners, and runners aren't cut to be swimmers. I feel your pain right along with you. Looking forward to kicking butt with this team. |

Pro 4343 Olney, MD | Subject: RE: Team Lively Lava Hi, I've been on teams with many of you, and owl_girl (Tracy) is running my mentor group. I rode a bike everywhere as a kid but not so much after I got my driver's license. I did some bike commuting in graduate school in Boston but then moved to Chicago and pretty much didn't touch a bike again for almost 20 years. In 2003 I bought a trainer stand and started working out in the basement. In 2004 I bought a new bike, a hybrid, with the intention of getting back out on the road. I finally made it out onto the road in spring of 2006 for a small, local charity ride (only 10k) but had already set my sights on doing a 25 mile diabetes Tour de Cure ride the following month. That ride was a huge success. The bug had bitten and I moved up to a road bike that fall. That's when a friend told me about the Iron Girl triathlon she had just done. That got me to thinking "I could do that!" What was I thinking?!? I started running in October 2006 and stated swimming (poorly) that December. This summer I completed two triathlons. Along the way I had to deal with a sprained ankle and kneecaps that stopped tracking properly. I'm on the mend and looking forward to three triathlons in 2008, a metric century ride for the Tour de Cure, and a few 5k races along the way. I love working out and celebrating the improvements and milestones. The triathlons and races focus my training. I'll probably never reach the podium but I love seeing that I'm capable of more than I ever thought. I have two kids who are with me one-week-on/one-week-off. My 16yo boy (who got his driver's license on Saturday!) plays ice hockey and lacrosse but doesn't think running makes any sense. I also have an 11yo daughter (BT: WeeBeast) who dances and does figure skating. She recently decided she wants to run a race so I've been taking her out on runs. Much of my family thinks I'm crazy but my partner (usually) gives me her full support. |

Thanks, that is way cool the way people do that. Thanks to Beth, I am just learning to post pictures...that's about as tech savvy as I get. I won't put it in my log until the spread sheet is updated. |

Pro 4353 Wallingford, PA | Subject: RE: Team Lively Lava My intro... I'm Jenny, also a stay at home mom to 3 kid-lets, ages 6, 9 & 11. I do most of my training when the kids are at school. This is my third season of tris. First season was mostly sprints with 1 olympic at the end of the season, second a mix of oly & sprint distance races, this season my "A" race will be my first half-iron distance race -- Black Bear in Pennsylvania on June 1, with some other sprint & olympic distance races over the summer mostly for fun. The training volume will begin to pick up quite a bit over the next month & a half, so this challenge will help keep me on track! Edited by jsnowash 2008-03-31 6:33 PM |

Member 168 Omaha, NE | Subject: RE: Team Lively Lava I suppose I better introduce myself too. I'm currently a physical therapy student switching careers from research science. I did a few Danskin women's triathlons when I was in grad school in Colorado and had a blast. Since moving back to Nebraska, I had to find something to do since climbing and skiing were not as accessible, so I got back into tri last summer. Last year I completed one sprint and did the bike leg on a team that included lastcall2003. This year I'd like to do both those triathlons, along with a marathon (or two, I'll find out about the 2nd tomorrow). I squeeze most of my training in around classes, which isn't too bad. I'm having more of a problem getting in the swimming and riding along with the marathon training....thus the incentive to join the challenge! Oh, and I'm amazed at all the moms on our team! I just barely keep up with a dog and a cat. |
