Happychick - 2008-11-14 2:42 AM Got on the bike today at 9:00 at night again.  Gotta tell ya...this challenge is the ONLY thing that got me out the door tonight!

That's what these challenges are especially good for! Great job!

---

I did a swim this morning, bringing my POG points to 6 for the week. I'm still probably going to do some Pilates tomorrow AM but I guess I can't take a point for it.

Great job all you POGsters. Got my 5 in so far this week, Sunday's swim was only 25 minutes since the pool was closing so I couldn't count it. No worries.  Have a great day.

Got my spin in!  It was really good too for being on the stationary at the Y.  I just got some new music on my ipod and I cranked it and worked out a ton of frustration.  Gotta love that!!!

I just have to tell ya'll how funny it is for me to get up, log in, and see all the work that's already been done when here I am  wiping the sleep from my eyes, drinking coffee, and listening to Sam "yell" at me to hurry up and give her breakfast!

Swim or run on tap for today...depends on what the weather's like when hubby gets home!

Hey Helen (aquagirl)....what time's dinner?  I soooooo hate cooking, baking, or anything that has to do with preparing food in a kitchen!  I tried baking some homemade choc chip cookies for my hubby once (yes, I said once!) and ended up eating so much of the cookie dough that it made less than half of what it was supposed to.  Who can resist cookie dough, you say?  Yeah but come on....over half of it?!

LOL!  My son makes me buy the tubs of tollhouse choc chip cookie dough just for eating it raw.  We NEVER bake them!

Got my POG point yesterday with a masters swim and a serious track workout in the evening.  It was supposed to be a ladder interval 200, 400, 600, 800, 600, 400, 200 with recoveries 50% of the distance.  Dumb me had a senior moment and was thinking that 200 was a lap, 400 2 laps, 600 3 laps and 800 a mile!  So my track run ended up being 7 miles at an 8:40 pace!  But I rocked it and I'm glad I did it (even though I'm an idiot!)!

Went swimming today!  It was for about 1/2 hour but I'm not sure of the distance...I lost count.  I think it was around 550 meters which means I am uber slow.  I'm looking into a local coach here...I just need to coordinate a consultation with him.

Hey POGers!  Anyone doing anything super exciting this weekend?  Not much here.  Birthday party's, church stuff, etc.  Not too fun.  Want to run super bad but it is pouring rain.  Third day in a row.  If it clears later, I'll hit the road, if not, when Cole is at his party, I'll hit the gym.  I've only run 1.5 miles this week.  Pitiful!  Hope you all are having a great Saturday!

I did some Pilates this morning but I'm already at 6 POG points for the week. I hope to do a ride tomorrow, something between 25 and 30 miles.

I agree about running in the rain ~ I love it!  I used to live in WA where if you want to run outside, you better become one with the rain!

Mike's class is meeting this morn with the instructor for a study group which means no spin class for me.  I'll have to figure something out for later to get my POG point for the day.  No worries..I'll gitter done!

How about finding a masters swim group.  Great motivation and really helps you get faster.

Got my POG point today with a beautful/windy ride followed by 20 mins of dog walking.

I love the rain too, just not when it's pouring buckets.  Something about running in a light mist/drizzle is relaxing.  It has let up right now so I should get my rear in gear!

Okay guys, I'm back.  Run accomplished.  It didn't even rain.  3.75 miles done.  It was a great run.  I haven't been running outside a lot lately, it's been mostly on the treadmill so today was great to get out.  I have been shopping for cool weather gear (not that I needed it today, it's in the 60s) and am looking forward to running outside more.

I found that there are several here on Oahu but the closest one is a 20 min drive with no traffic and their times are during the week at 5 or on Sat mornings.  Unfortunately, I have to wait until my hubby (Mike) gets off work (usually around 5) and gets home to watch Sam.  As for the Sat mornings, Mike is in an algebra class that is kicking his butt so he goes to a study group with the instructor ~ once that's done then I'll just have to see about replacing my cycling class with Masters.  Anyway, that is why I'm hoping I can get with this coach (who actually does triathlons himself) ~ that way I can make it happen around our schedule.  I keep telling my husband "that's what I want for Christmas" so I figure I'll just add this to the list!

What about a babysitter? some of you may be asking yourselves?!  Well, since I've only lived here a short time, I don't know (trust?) anyone well enough to leave Sam with especially since she's never stayed with anyone other than Mike and I ~ the true downfalls of not having family anywhere nearby!

Are there any friends, neighbors or playgroupers that you could trade childcare with? YOu could always start with just 30 minues at a time.  I used to bring my kids to the playground even when they were really small just so I could get some freah air and meet some other folks with kids. Sometimes I just sat on the swings with the baby and watched the other kids.  The little ones are often attracted to a baby and then the parents come over too.  If there aren't any public playgrounds nearby you could always go to a nearby school. Lots of times the kids and families go there to play when school is not isn't session.  Good luck.

Actually I do the same thing with Sam and I have made a few friends that way ~ I'm just not close enough to them to leave Sam with them.  I think I'm just paranoid since I've never left her with anyone but Mike before and I know that probably sounds crazy since she is 9 months old now.  No matter what, I'll just keep forcing myself to get in the pool which can only help, right?!

Nope, not paranoid at all.  My kids are 7,5 and 4.  I still don't have a babysitter for them.  That being said, just recently I have become more comfortable leaving them with some friends.  It's hard, especially with a baby!  Stick with it, you will work something out and you will be so glad you did!  Another place I have met some good people is church.  I don't know if that is your thing or not but the base chapel's are usually a good resource too.

When my eldest daughter first started babysitting a smart mom had her come over to be a "mother's helper" for a few hours.  She paid her to play with the kids while the mom did chores and paperwork around the house.  It gave the kids a chance to get used to my daughter while their mom was still available, and mom had a chance to check out my daughter's babysitting (nose wiping, fight stopping, book reading and block building) skills. I thought this was very smart and it actually was nice for my daughter because the mom was there as a resource if a question came up about how to handle a situation with the kids.

I got out and did a very windy ride: winds of 10-20mph with stronger gusts. I got to ride my favorite stretch of road with a tailwind, averaging 21mph! That made it all worth it. Cool
