I've been absent also post surgery on my thumb. I'm basically restricted to activity that does not cause me to perspire, and for me that is anything after tying my shoes!! Next week I get x-rayed for hopefully the final time and then my pins can get removed. The pins are what are holding me back from S/B/R as they are exposed and sweating generates bacteria which introduces the risk of infection. Can't wait till they get yanked out.

So, with no exercise for basically 6 weeks I'm afraid of how much endurance I've lost and how quick it'll come back. Anyone else been here before?

Alright, back on the ball and in full swing.  Let's hear it from everyone, where are you at in your training, where do you want to be, what are your goals for the year, and what is/are your "A" races?

Chief is in the house to officially put the proverbial foot in your !  If you are not traing, start!  No more excuses, if you are broke, do core w/o's as you can.  Do not break yourself more but remember that even if part of you doesn't work there is usually still something you can work on.

Current Status:  Preparing to start my program Monday

Want to be:  Pain free with a good base

Goals:  Short  Get back on track with Training

Long   Finish RI 70.3 in 5 1/2 Hours

"A" Race:  RI 70.3 (did it last year after 2 months of no workouts, made it painful and plan to fix that this year)

Oing that good huh?  Well, nice to know you are still staying with the program.  Tough week and lacking some motivation you say?  Just remeber, the less you sweat now the more it will hurt on race day.  You're kidding, the dog really ate your shoes, chewed a hole in your bike tire and deficated in your pool multiple times......  don't worry, bare foot running is the new "thing", wrap that old condom that never got used and you still carry in your wallet around the hole and ignore the poop, the chlorine takes care of it!!

IOW, Get off your a$$ and get to training!!

Come on folks, get back out there. I'm sinking here, this blog is really quiet!

Make some noise, and time to really get some mileage this month. Weather is warming up, and Spring is coming upon us, woohoo, clock's goes forward really soon here.

Let's get up, get out of that dam house, and train like there was no tomorow! Oh yeah, turn on "Eye of the Tiger" if you need some motivation!

I'm back!!! Got my thumb healed up, pins extracted and cast is off. Went for my first run this morning and boy did it feel great to get out there. 6 weeks of complete inactivity....glad that's over. My goal is to get back on track for a 1/2 mary on 5/2 without ramping up too quickly.

Any advice from the group on how quickly to ramp up training after much inactivity? BTW - I ran a 5k this morning at a 6/7 RPE and was a little slower than I was before my break at the same effort. I plan on the same tomorrow. Next week.....the pool!

Start building the running base back again. You had a pretty decent base to begin with so it should not take that long to get back into shape. Hit it with four days of running per week (3, 4, 3, 5 - weekend long run) and build the weekend runs from there. This formula has worked well for me.

Good luck. I have been trying to race myself into shape this spring and have been pretty happy with the results so far. You might want to pick out a 5k every couple of weeks and watch your times drop. There are certainly enough of them in the next few months!

Thanks I'll give that a whirl! Got a pool workout in yesterday and my traps are sore..but it felt good. I'll be jumping back in the pool tomorrow and take it as a recovery day. I'd love to get a bike ride in this weekend if the weather holds out, if not I'll be running.

BTW... Where the h3ll is everyone? Chief where are you????

I'm Back!!  Been on vacation a couple weeks (went to Orlando).  I start my program Monday with the outlook for RI 70.3 in July.  I see discussions have been minimal here so let's start with a clean slate!

 ROLL CALL!!

Good to hear that you are healed up.  Anyone heard from the others?  I know Dev gave up on us because I wasn't doing my job (completely my fault, not his).  Looks like we have our work cut out for us in getting everyone back on the board.  Sorry about the lapsebut let's gear up and move out!
