So, we decided to leave this afternoon instead.  I wont' have much net access while driving, so I'll catch up when I can.

misfit_1 - 2009-12-18 12:58 PM Ok - so pools don't really care if you go in with a wetsuit...they may just look at you funny?

No, the pool doesn't care but it definitely brings funny looks. Surprisingly, nobody ever comments on it.
I would try to find a salt water pool to try them if you can...chlorine isn't very wetsuit friendly.  If you do use it in a chlorinated pool be sure to rinse it immediately and thoroughly.

This could be an interesting training tool.  I am tempted to buy it and see how if effects my stroke.

I generally only do this when I've gotten a new suit and OWS is not going to happen. Yes, it always gets a good rinsing afterward.

I was going to go to the gym today right after my dr visit, but that didn't work out.

I have a run with a friend planned for tomorrow morning.

Not having tv is probably great right now - if I want to watch Kona I have to go to the gym and do a long run!  Some of the benefits of being cheap.

Hi everyone!  We didn't make it too far last night before we had to find a hotel room because the roads were too bad.  We're in Waynesboro, VA right now - about 90 miles west of Richmond.

We tried to get out this morning and either go further west or go back home.  The interstate to go further west is closed and we couldn't even find the on-ramp to go home.  Fortunately, the staff at the hotel is great and held our room for us.  We'll stay here again today and drive tomorrow.

We are very lucky that we have a room.  Lots of people are sleeping in their cars in parking lots because there are no rooms left.  It's not a great situation, but we're making the best of it.  The only things open are a gas station and a Shoney's that we can walk to.  I think we'll walk up to the gas station for lunch and then maybe the Shoney's for dinner.  It's supposed to get much lighter later this afternoon/evening, so that should let us get out tomorrow.

That's really interesting.  I've used paddles a lot.  With the ones I have, if you put your hand in the water wrong, you know it because it becomes impossible to do a stroke.

Jen - that sucks - but atleast you did get a hotel room...and you've got food nearby.  Hope you packed lots of warm clothes for the walk.  Good luck getting home.

I did another roller session; 135 miles biked so far in December, but all inside. I can feel my sanity slipping away as the miles add up!

Jen - stay safe and warm!

I bet it's difficult to eat healthy at Shoneys and/or the gas station!

No snow here in Georgia - we would love a white Christmas.

Probably a slug weekend for me.  Maybe I'll get to the gym tomorrow.

Y'all stay warm!

It is definitely not the easiest thing to do, but I managed to find a not terrible microwave lunch (only 3 g fat!!) at the gas station.  Shoneys has grilled chicken, so I'll probably do that for dinner.

Artemis - 2009-12-18 11:08 AM Does anyone have any fun weekend plans?

I'll be driving to Wisconsin.  We are planning to leave early tomorrow and hoping to do the drive in one day.  Looks like snow might interfere with our plans - either the leaving or being able to do it in one day.  We'll get there eventually and we're pretty flexible about the time, so it will work out.

Good luck with your drive - I'm hoping the majority of the snow that's supposed to hit the east coast will keep pushing into the Atlantic.  My sister is supposed to fly in from Tokyo on Sunday, and it'd be nice if her flight wasn't terrible delayed.  It'd be nice if I wasn't shoveling all Sunday evening too! - but if I'm snowed in, I can spend the day on the trainer

I had friends fly in from Tokyo yesterday.  They had to spend the night in St. Louis, but made it to Richmond today.  Hope your sister has good luck, too!

Healthy Eating Challenge!!

How it works: For the next two weeks (basically until the end of December), eat healthy at least 4 - 5 days per week.  That's at least 8 - 10 times in the next 12 days.

Current participants: Jen, Erin, Kathy, Melody, Kat, Kim, Karen, Melissa

Anyone else want in?

Let us know how it's going here!

Additional option: post what you are eating in your blog (I usually just write it at the bottom, so you can check mine out for an example)

In January, we can maybe start tracking weight loss, too, if people want (does NOT have to be your weight, just the change!)

What?  you want us to be honest and write down what we eat? lol.  Is there a definition to the word 'healthy' that I should be using?  ...I'll try...and I'll be honest!

I did a long run on the treadmill watching Kona and got so into it that I didn't even notice a nasty blister develop on my pinkie toe.  Now I'm just hobbling around.

Jen - good to know some flights from Japan are arriving...hopefully by the time my sister lands in NYC tomorrow afternoon, things will be under control.

x2!  But that's just what I need right now so I don't blow it this holiday season!

My gym that has helped me TREMENDOUSLY over the past year has asked me to do a '"success story" type of thing for their new web site, and now has asked for some pics, so I was going thru some and decided to put a couple on this site in an album.  It was a lot of work, but OHHHH so worth it, and I am so happy to be were I am now.   Eating healthy for the next two weeks and having to write it down will make me focus again!
