Some bad news fellow 'boners.

My back issues have resulted in my being told to lay off the bike for a while.  So, there is no way I'm going to be able to meet my goal.

*Hopefully* by taking it easy this week, I'll be good to go for my race next weekend.

I'm still good for me pledge, but I'd like to ask if I can be removed from the challenge, due to being told by doctor not to ride.

This sucks.

PM Renee, throw yourself on her mercy. I would think the "doctor's excuse" would work, certainly better than "my dog ate my bicycle."

Sorry to hear about injury....what a drag. I hope you are able to make the race...have a great time, (pun intended).

Hmm....on withdrawel, seems like its still a team effort, so perhaps your teammates will chip in and pick up the slack?

just a thought

Hey Chris,

Just wanted to make sure you got a good workout.  Didn't want you to feel slighted or anything! :-)

Wow, great job guys, we're really takin' it to the ladies on this challenge.  Bear gets the "game ball" for the week.  Way to hang in there.  I got in a 66 miler today, bringing me up to 266/360 and with less than 100 miles to go!

But, we are clearly not doing enough trash talking over on the Gear Goddesses thread.  I want to see you guys over there antagonizing those struggling cupcakes.  Remember, we've got two major losses to avenge.

Get out and ride!

Chris, sorry to hear about your plight.  Hopefully, you'll heal up quickly.  We'll need to appeal your situation to Renee.  I'm sure she can find mercy in her heart to give you a hall pass on this month's challenge.

They are apparently lacking in the mercy dept.

So, we should be lacking in the mercy dept and get out there and ride lots.

52 miles this weekend! 18 on Saturday and 34 on Sunday - not much for some, but that was my longest ride ever! That puts me at 126/120. Go Bones!

Apparently, we have a few Gear Goddesses who have hearts of ice.  One of our members (no pun intended) is down on medical leave.  Chris (Coredump) has been instructed by his doc to lay off of the biking.  We appealed his situation to the chicka's and they basically told us to go pound sand.

So, with that being said, we need to lift up a brother by banking some extra miles.  Lets take the high road and spank those li'l cupcakes.

As for me, I've already incorporated an extra evening bike ride into the schedule.  I hope each of you can do the same.  Rock on, Bones.

Helllooooooooooooooo.... Captain Goddess here. I am just catching up on this issue this morning. I have a call in to Chris (Coredump) and will advise as soon as I talk to him. NOBODY has said NO to your request so there's no reason to get your knickers in a knot.

You can stop with the whining. Or continue. Whatever.

I think we should chew out those guys that signed up who are able to finish their milage and for whatever reason, aren't. Chris needs to be helped this month, no problem. But those of us who have no excuse and do not hit even a small percentage of their goal should be flogged...

I would agree, Mike, there are four that have <40% as of today. One of those (Flyboy) just raced this weekend so he should be OK after his taper/recovery is passed.

On behalf of the 'boners, a big thank you to the Great, Beautiful and Benevolent Head Goddess for exercising a far greater degree of compassion than the cold and merciless sisters of her clan.

Thanks Renee.

Sorry guys.  I feel like I let you all down here.  I was hoping to have another big ride month, but reality intervened.

I was set to gut it out based on the initial reaction to the request, but it is probably better this way, as I'll be less tempted to push my recovery to squeeze in the extra miles on the bike.  Ultimately, this is about having fun, not about winning or losing ( though winning is certainly more fun! ), and we shouldn't lose sight of that.

I'll be back stronger and healthier for the next challenge, and even though I can't ride out the rest of this one, my pledge for this one stands, so the charity selected doesn't lose out.

Oh for pete's sake...get a grip. It was a discussion about being a team. Renee is right, stop whining. What compels you to be so dramatic?  Yeah....I guess it sells.

I guess you're not going to drum your sense of humor into me, and i didn't get a sincere sense of it from you.

I'd like to join the next challenge but I have a two week vacation in July.

How are the numbers set up to deal with something like that.
(I have no idea how you structure them)
