KOM - 2010-11-13 8:52 AM One thing that helped me last year over the holidays was a "only on a plate" rule.  Anytime I wanted to eat something I had to put it on a plate to eat it.  No handfuls of chex party mix out of the bowl...or sneaking spoonfuls of cold stuffing out of the pan from the fridge.  The inconvenience of getting a plate did limit my snacking....except when I broke my own rule!

That is all I ever eat - 1 plate at a time - now when I go back for 2nd and 3rds well it is still just one plate

I give myself an annual Thanksgiving and Christmas bye - I luv Turkey and refuse to sacrafice!!!!
A good way to not splurge on T-Giving is to get invited for a miserable time to your sister-in-laws about 1 hour away. I'm half tempted to bring my running gear and just go for a 2 hour run.

I usually have the SAME situation!  Wink  This year, however, Thansgiving is at my house -but just with the monster-in-law and FIL (that I actually like).  Still, I'm planning a long run in the morning...  The true test of my will, will be on Saturday of T weekend when we have a combined "Thanksgiving"/kids birthday party with all the inlaws.  The stress of having to smile and pretend to get a long usually leads me to eat and drink way to much.  Embarassed

Emmanem - 2010-11-14 1:23 AM After a stressful week of school and work and giving myself an easy week of training, I was expecting to have gained but surprisingly I'm down a pound to 143  I'm getting a lot better at not snacking for no reason and I've been using fruit for snacks between meals... seems to be working

Excellent!

I believe no change here, 135. My glasses were downstairs and I didn't want to go down and get them to weigh in so I "think" that was what the scale read.  Think I will go get a digital today with BIG numbers!

Down .6 to 149.2 today. Will see if it stays since I think I am dehydrated a bit.

I have been trying to log my eating and track calories beginning on Monday. I am amazed by how just one mixed drink totally blows up my calories.  Even though I have been careful all week indulging on the weekends really sabotages all my efforts.  Since I cannot get in my usual longer workouts on the weekends for the next few weeks I really need to pay attention to this.  Tracking/logging has really been an eye opener this week for sure!

In other news I bought a digital scale. Numbers still require the use of glasses to read but at least no more guessing where the line is-just read the number!  Tomorrow's weight might be a little different but I may use both scales and compare. The old one is being donated/recycled on Tuesday.

Kathy, I totally know what you mean about weekends sabotaging all the weekday efforts!  The scale was not kind to me today and I didn't even have my usual beer or two watching football yesterday...  On the drive in today, I had already decided that I was going to start tracking my food too.  Hopefully that will be a shock enough for me to give me that kick in the rear that I need!!

Great job!!!!!!!

As for me, had a weekend fallback - and it really didn't seem that bad     Up to 209, but the BF was down to 22.0.

This week is a down week for any workout volume so I really need to pay attention to intake.....

Down to 148.2 - just not sure it will stay. I figured I was dehydrated last night so I drank before bed and it was still down to 148.2 this morning.  Got .5L in already this morning, working on the second and tracking food. Will see what happens tomorrow.

If I get down to 148 and stay I will have lost 3 lbs so far. Hubby is traveling this week and I got premade salads at the store for lunch - they are chicken, lettuce, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds and a sesame dressing - all for about 300 calories. So we will see how things go - also motivation is the 1/2 mary on sunday - I really want to hydrate and eat right before that. Then after on Sunday I can cheat if I want. Not sure it will really help but I am telling myself it will.

Weighed myself on the new scale today-it reads about 1.5 lbs heavier than the old one when compared side to side.  I will keep using the new one since I can actually see it.  So weight is 136.5, grrrrr.

At least you can blame your weight gain on the scales. I'm about 3 pounds up this month and can't blame it on anything but myself.

I'm a bad boy. I keep forgetting to log my weight until after the noon deadline. Not that I have anything to show for it. Still 199.2 with 10.2 pounds to go by 12/31.

Tomorrow, or maybe I should say today, is going to be a tough day. I'm working from home and there are too many goodies lying about at the moment. My two goals for the day. 1-No junk food, only nutritious snacks. 2-I will also get in my exercise goals for the day, which include a swim workout, running, and push ups and sit ups.

Maybe being able to read the scale is not a good idea. Went up to 138 this morning.
