Expert 1104 Canada | Subject: RE: JuniperJen's Keeping It Consistent Group - FULL debbiereid06 - 2011-01-06 10:23 AM I have yet to run outside this winter. I HATE the cold weather and refuse to run in weather under 45 degrees. Maybe someday I will try it, but not right now. And my husband thinks we will end up in Chicago some day....I don't think so!!! Guess you would not want to join my running group. This pic was taken last February. 13 mile long run on a Sunday. The Gatorade in my left hand froze at about 8 miles!! Pro 4824 Houston | Subject: RE: JuniperJen's Keeping It Consistent Group - FULL It's been a busy Mama day but I got my 1900 swim in. It kicked my booty but glad I got it done! I have an appointmet for a new fit tomorrow. I've had lots of issues with saddles and keep trying to find the right fit. I have a Cobb I like but when we made some changes to the cockpit it changed the fit in a bad way. I was trying my coaches Adamo and that is NOT working at all. Hoping I can get comfy (or at least not in pain) before my ride this weekend. |

I do need to do some hilll training but I live in Houston and hills are almost impossible to come by. This is why race directors put briges in their races, it is the only way to get elevation. Not a prelude to Alcatraz for ME - LOL! |

Half marathon in April, I want to run fast! haha so it's good you guys were talking about speed workouts, that's definitely something I have to do more of and I got some good tips. Member 97 Memphis | Subject: RE: JuniperJen's Keeping It Consistent Group - FULL A couple of questions on stuff for the race: Anyone know if you can rent a wetsuit for like a week? I really don't see budget allowing a purchase! And the bike. I have...(drumroll please) $200 for a bike. I've read reviews on the GMC Denali that Target sells: 169.99 People are saying they worked great for their first triathlon. Is this insanity? Any tips on finding a cheap bike? Thanks! Mylissa www.triforjoy.wordpress.com Not too sure about the wetsuit, your race directors might have some ideas. This is the company some of the races by me use: http://www.wetsuitrental.com/ /> As for the bike, you really can use almost anything. I used my mountain bike for my first few tris. My best advice would be to try and check out craigslist, the BT classifieds, and maybe even your LBS to try and find a used bike. |

Veteran 545 South Shore, MA | Subject: RE: JuniperJen's Keeping It Consistent Group - FULL Thanks for the links, BigDH. Makes it much easier! I missed my spin class today and am so bummed! I feel so different when I don't get in any exercise - mentally and physically! I had my sitter all lined up to take care of the kids while I went to the gym, but instead spent time with a friend who just suffered a loss and really needed some company. Totally worth missing spin but feel as if I should have still found a way to squeeze a work out in later in the day! I'll make it my rest day for the week and get back at it on Friday! So, my workouts for the week so far: M: Spin class T: Spin W: Run Th: Spin - missed F: Swim on my own S: Masters Swim Su: Likely off but possible run I'm not signed up for any races for the next 2 months, too cold! (I'm a whimp, too!) I'll do a few 5Ks beginning in March/April... Edited by kpringle 2011-01-07 2:53 AM |

Anyone who wants to develop some endurance, a half mary is do-able for most, but does not require nearly the training volume of a full marathon. What is your weekly running volume now, Kristen? R |

Mylissa www.triforjoy.wordpress.com Yes, you can rent wetsuits. My hubby did it last year from www.wetsuitrental.com They were great to work with and give you an option to buy at a discounted price!! As for a bike, check craigslist. I was able to get the hubby a decent bike for his first couple of tri's on there for $200. To me, it really doesn't matter which bike you have as long as you're comfortable on it and are able to do the tri!! With a cheap bike, my hubby still passes people on Cervelo's. Good luck!! |
