Yes, this is definitely a show you should "prepare" for (if you have enough warning and I don't know how much warning they get).

In no particular order you should:

1. Ween off coffee.
2. First gain an extra 10 pounds then
3. Restrict your food for a week immediately prior to leaving so that the "hunger" the first few days isn't as bad.
4. HYDRATE really well.
5. Practice sleeping on the floor (I think sleeping in weird places is an acquired skill)
6. Oh, and learn how to make a freaking fire. :D

I would certainly love to try. And I do not have any particular skill set to tell me that I would be garanteed to do well. I think I do well under pressure, and I think I relate/read people well... face to face that is. But I have my liabilities too and sometimes you just choose the wrong alliance on day one.... but darn I would love to try.

I would be SCREWED at that challange.  25% of your weight?  That one was actaully slanted to the smaller players because if you were twice as heavy, I doubt you have twice the hand strength.  So little strong girls/guys like Dennise and the track coach rock it.

Crazy, everyone just loves Dennis.  She's going to be there till the end unless the evil empire of Abi and Pete find her a threat.

Lisa was nice, but I think that's a BIT rude to dump everyone's bad and start hanging them out.  I would at least ask the group if that's what they want.

I forgot what the trailer was for next week.  Anything look exciting?

I never really liked any of the "percent of your weight" challenges.

Denise is having a pretty good run...considering how many tribals she's had to go to!  She's a therapist...she relates to people for a living...she's really good at it apparently.  That's why everyone loves her.  Plus she seems to be an asset at camp and such.

I wondered if that was one of Lisa's jobs at the Tandang camp...maybe she didn't think to ask because her tribe was so used to her doing that?

Trailer for next week was Penner scrambling and declaring "me against the rest of you".

I wonder if they will re-hide the idol?  Doubtful...they couldn't hide it in plain site again because everyone knows what it looks like now!

Oh yeah...  I remember now, and was thinking it was a bit of a crybaby move.  Sort of like "waaa waaa waaa, you tried to vote me out so screw you all".  I think I would try to work hard to be liked and get INTO a group.  Not alienate everyone.

It's definitely a game you need to have good control over your emotions to play.  He definitely would be better off just using this new knowledge to come up with a better plan of attack.

But...sometimes your emotions take over...that's kind of the whole point of having them on a deserted island short of food and water...take away food and water and comforts and people's real personalities can't help but come out and controlling emotions comes more difficult.

Either way...next week should be interesting!  Penner is really going to try to shake things up!

Ya... that is the stress we don't see from the couch. Hunger, sanitation, poor conditions, cold/hot, boredom, lack of sleep, lack of comfort, paranoia, people truly out to get rid of you. It seems easy from my couch...it's for a million bucks, how hard could that be?

But I would come unglued after about 3 days of less than 8 hours of uninterupted sleep. And no coffee!!!! That would approach homicidal.

I can roll with punches pretty well when my head is straight and I can concentrate on the big picture. But I am a rotating shift worker. I work days/nights weekday/weekends. I actually love night shift because I am a night person... but every 5 week rotation, I have to work a 3 and 4 night strech, and then swap back to days to be with the rest of the world. It used to be a lot easier, but the older I get the harder it is. For the first two days it is profound. Up/down, real irritable, real emotional. I make very poor decisions. Family knows to leave me alone. Like really bad PMS I guess.

But that is the point of Survivor, to put people under stress and see what happens. We don't get to feel that stress on our couch, but it can effect people in dramatic ways.

I would add learn to not be bossy or type A but thats not something bossy or type A people can control.

Now that my rant is over...

I knew the baseball player would do well, they have strong hands/wrists.

I know this is mean, but something about the track coach - hard to look at.  Not an actractive guy, IMO.  Butterface for a dude.

RC fell in the hard luck catagory like someon mentioned.  Good/strong player, but wrong place/wrong time.  There is a lot of luck in this game along with the outplay, outlast stuff.  Getting from one vote to the next always gives you a chance.

I could see Abi blowing up at someone and suddenly getting voted off.

Someone mentioned Alan Alda, and now that's all I can think about with Penner.  Thanks for that!

I forgot what the trailer was for next week.  Anything look exciting?

Oh yes, the track coach is nice to look at... from the NECK DOWN. His head... OUCH. Eyes are too close together, nose is pretty bad.

Abi is a nut.

jldicarlo - 2012-11-01 7:34 PM I love that RC brought a swim cap and goggles with her in her luggage....

She really didn't play as well as I thought she would.... I can't really say what I expected of her, but I just thought she might play better. She wasn't "horrible". She seemed a bit of a diva, and didn't want to cause waves. I don't know, I thought her resume would have played out better.

So many "business" types think they will do well and manipulate but they are usually the worst.  Don't get me wrong, most of it is the luck of the draw with your tribe and RC got crazy Abi and Artis.  Seems like Artis is always ready to go off on someone out there.  Maybe it's just being out of your element and he wears it all over his face that he is upset at the situation.. I don't know.  He has a major gripe about Skupin for some reason.  I still can't figure that one out.  It seems in this game the younger girls only play is to latch on to a bad guy type like Russell Hantz and ride until the end and not ruffle any feathers and hope for an "anti" vote.  Not being sexist at all but it seems like not many women have won the slot by playing the game, except for Kim last season . There was Jenna as well on Amazon.  I think that was about it that were women that played their way in to the finals and didn't just ride coat tails like the one that beat Coach a few seasons ago.  Is it just a society perception thing?

RC said in her post race interview that the biggest misconception she had coming in was that people would make the SMART choice (aka business type decisions) and in reality they are making the safe choices.  So, that may explain why some business types don't do well.  They probably have a hard time wrapping that fact around their noggins.

Not many women have won by playing the game...that is true.  Even Jenna and Kim won a TON of immunities in addition to their gameplay and that really helps.

I am not sure what disturbs people about riding coattails.  That's a valid strategy IMHO.  Choosing which person to align with is a VITAL element of this game.  In order to ride coattails you have to choose the correct person...someone who you know will get to the end but you know everyone will hate them so you'll get all the votes.

I think an interesting twist to the game would be if there was a formula to calculate the winner instead of just votes.  For example, you get a certain number of points for votes plus a certain number of points for every challenge you win, etc. etc.  That kind of system might make it less viable that a pure coattail rider could win...because let's say the votes are fairly even...4-3 or something in favor of a coattail rider...the coattail rider probably didn't win challenges and could end up losing.

I guess in a way it would make the challenges a HUGE influence...even bigger than they already are.  That would be a downside.  But, it would be a surprising twist and they are always looking for those.

I think it's just a matter of opinion on what constitutes "earning" a win.  I think you have to do something and not just be a vote for hire.  The girl who one two season ago against Coach was the worst.  She did win one immunity challenge but did nothing otherwise.  She had a so many opportunities to take control and didn't.  If she took those opportunities then I would have respected her win.  The vote for her to win was an anti-Coach vote.  At least Coach took the risk and played the game but it just didn't work out.

So much depends on the makeup of the jury as well.  Do they respect game play or are they bitter that season was filled with  bitterness.  Whereas the season before when Rob won almost unanimously were people that respected the game and they got beat fair and square.

I don't think someone should win a million dollars for being the leaders ... Just my opinion.  Obviously many have used this strategy and won.

I think Lisa will make a move this week. She has waiting for a few weeks to bring out her game. She has assumed a motherly role, and has flown under the radar . But now,she has sat back and taken the good, and taken the bad. She taken them both...

Tongue out

They are definitely approaching what I consider a critical point in the game...you need to make a move fairly soon or you will get left behind (or booted to the jury).

That's funny because out of all the coat tail riders, I think she was the most deserving. Not a right or wrong thing, just a different take. Yes they hated Coach and Brandon(?), but she was integral to getting herself there and she won immunity when it counted. I thought she had a very level head. And all those opportunities to take control came from Brandon(?) wanting to shake things up every 10 seconds. He ended up being totally despised and not following his lead looked like smart play. She made a decision at every point that got her the win.

Coat tail riders sort of don't sit well with me either. I'm not necessarily defending the strategy, but if it won me a Million in a game, I would sleep OK at night.

I think Albert proposed all the possible flips but she just sat there and voted with Coach.  I do give her credit for winning an immunity challenge but she won one and I'm not sure that deserves a million bucks in that game.  To be fair, I think Russell Hantz should have won his first season from a game play perspective.  He was harsh but he was the only one there to play.  Seems like some only want to be on TV.

I agree. It's now or never for those on the outs to flip and change the game.  Obviously you could end up like Cochran and end up 6th anyway but those guys he was originally on tribe with got what they got.  You never treat anyone like crap when you need their vote to pick off opposing tribe and eventually a jury vote.  Stupid move.  Even if you aren't aligned with someone out there you talk to them and share the experience.  What else do you have to do out there 24/7 for 30+ days?

At this point, I think I would start considering to bring Abi.  She's so abbrasive and never does any team challanges.  I still wonder why they got rid of the "sit out" rule, if she is THAT incapable, if she asked to be sat out or the team made her...  I think argueing against her for a million would be piece of cake.  Hell, she would probably show attitude and tell the jury she doesn't like them.

OMG, BEST EPISODE THIS SEASON!!!!!

What a bunch of dummies! :D

Where to even START???

Well, YAY PENNER!  Not that I'm the world's biggest Penner fan, but I *love* when the underdog wins and blows up the plan!  I was on my bike (on the trainer) and I literally cheered with my hands up in the air (and I really need to be careful about that because I came close to whacking my hands in the spinning ceiling fan).  I thought he was out of it for SURE...he looked so far behind and he didn't seem to have a method to his madness...but he pulled it out! GO PENNER!

Then TONS of good info gets totally spilled.  It's obvious who everyone hates....good info.  I totally applaud Lisa's IDEA to get Malcom...and totally ROTTEN of Pete to rat her out!  That right there should have told Lisa where she stands in the alliance.  For real.  Looks like the previews next week cement that idea...room for more trouble!  Yeah!

Malcolm looked SO relieved after that vote...I think he was really worried about getting voted out with the idol in his pocket.  But he must have had a good enough vibe to gamble...that was probably his turning point.  The longer he can hold that idol the better, giving it up now would have been a shame.

I wonder if Lisa has any chance now?  Even if she's useful to an alliance there are probably a lot of folks mad at her now.

Denise is essentially flying under the radar right now...AWESOME.

No one seemed to know Abi had an idol...I wonder what possessed her to fess up?

And that vote...I really thought they were going to pull it out and get rid of Pete...though, several people have a point that he isn't like so he won't get votes.

WTF is with Penner voting for Abi?  I thought he was in on the plan to vote Pete?  But, actually...had he voted Pete it would have been a 5-5 tie.  Surely he didn't sense that, did he?

So, now we have 9....the other 3 who voted for pete (other than jeff) plus penner...vs the 5 who voted for Jeff.  So, Lisa is the swing...she's 5 on 5 either way and I guess it just depends which group she thinks she has a better chance with...

AWESOME episode.  What'd I miss?  Anything?

Oh, I know what I missed...imagine the POSSIBILITIES next week to use idols to blindside people!  Neither alliance really has enough to split the vote...I really hope they realize just what they can do with a little bit of secrecy and strategic idol play...

Skipped PSR (sick) and actually got to watch this one!

I've missed a lot of episodes this season but Lisa seems like a totally different person from how I remember her on the first few episodes. I like how she found out her plan blew up but owned it and seemed to take it in stride.

And when Penner won there was NO LOVE from everyone else. He just ruined their plan!

Fun episode!

TOTALLY!!!

OK... way to go Penner. I love ruining a plan.

Lisa... great idea. Seriously. Pete... what a moron for not taking it. What does it matter? It's obvious Pete Artis and Abi are three... seemed Malcolm was with them... but probably not to the end. And he is a huge threat and now he is a huge threat with an idol... MY GOD.. it was SOOO perfect for a blind side.

The problem with her plan though was Abi/Artis/Pete then Lisa and Skupin... hello! Which then means Lisa and Skupin. That plan was not going to get you to the final 3.

And not that I wanted Malcolm gone. I really like him. So then IDIOT Pete... not only is he given very powerful info.. he totally blows using it. I mean even if you do not want Malcolm gone right now... KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT. Now he has very important info. But he "asks" Malcolm if he has it and believes him. WOW!

THE BUS RAN OUT OF GAS RUNNING OVER EVERYONE!!!

Lisa pitched a good game. She brought the info to her alliance and stayed loyal. I thought Malcolm was an idiot pulling out the idol. I mean if he got votes, play it, the other person goes home... but then by the vote BRILIANT! He told everyone don't vote for me cause I'm playing it... and got to walk away with it. WOO HOO!

But ABI!!! WTH? Why would you whip that out? You could see Pete roll his eyes. She wasn't even going home. She has to know by now she is assured top 3 without a single vote. She didn't play hers, but her name was never mentioned.

They generally stuck to the plane. Jeff and then the other idea of Pete. Actually, as far as all the others are concerned, who cares. Alliances are not tight and both are threats for immunity. Everyone made out except Abi/Artis and Carter.

There is still PLENTY of game left! The only bummer is the terrible 3 are still alive, but I do not think anyone will side with them except for convenience... and of course now Pete knows Malcolm lied to him about the idol. It can still be Abi/Pete/Artis and Denise/Malcolm/Carter... with Skupin and Penner for fodder or votes. And both sides have idols and now they will go insane trying to figure out who to vote for and not have the idol go there and get taken out the other way.

That was awesome!

Just got done and I almost need to take a breather. That was intense! I don't know if Malcom did it on purpose, but as soon as he said he was going to play it, I thought it's the perfect time not to play it. It was a gamble for him, but not nearly as big if a gamble for the others to throw votes at him that could be wasted instead of a better target. Just like poker. It's not the cards you have, but it's what you can get people to think you have.Lisa tried to make a move and actually did the perfect thing at council. Just come clean with it.Abi. What can I say. Moron. And looks like she is going to force Lisa away next week too. She will let her ego get in the way of a million bucks. She would rather get payback, than get paid.I see Denise, Abi, and someone like Malcom in the finals. Denise is last on anyone's list right now. Malcom is a player, and abi (or Pete) will be brought because they won't get any votes to win. Sorry for the wall of text - iPad.
