Member 32 Duluth, GA | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Wow, I didn't think that Laketown Wharf would sell out that quick. I'm staying there for the Gulf Coast tri in May, but had to move over to Long Beach Condos for IMFL. I went through VRBO. There were several condos still available. It sounds like several of you got lucky and were able to sign up online. I didn't want to take any chances, so I drove down from Atlanta for the race and then stood in line for several hours to sign up on Sunday. This is going to be my first IM. Good luck to everyone! 7 | Subject: Condo Question: Shore of Panama Question for anyone who has stayed at Shores of Panama... I have head some suggestions to get a low floor because there can be long elevators. Can anyone confirm that this is an issue? Is it just specific times, and is it a problem for athletes as well as competitors? Any advice would be great. Staying on the 23rd floor and having a great view sounds nice, but not if it means dealing with long elevator waits all week. Thanks. |

I was able to test out my new Garmin 910 today. Looking forward to using it during my IMFL training. Does anyone have tips/advice about the 910?
I too received a 910 for Christmas. Many thanks to the husband for replacing my 7 year old 305! I have just started using it this week and would love to hear any tips from 910 experts out there.
One quick question I did have for those that use the 910. I used it for the first time in the pool this week and love it. My quick question is how do you lap your workouts? Let me explain with a fictitious workout. If you have a workout that is a 300 pull, 300 drill, 300 pull, 300 free, how would you use your lap button. Start, pull 300 and press stop, then after your rest press start and lap and move on to your 300 drill. Or would you Start, pull 300, press lap and rest, then after your rest press lap and move on to your 300 drill. Sorry if this sounds confusing. Just trying to figure out if your rest intervals are calculated into your data it you only press lap. Its a minor detail I know! I love my 910, especially in the pool. The only thing that gets a little frustrating is sometimes my form goes out the window and it misses a length here and there. But, I am getting better and it is doing better with catching the changes. To answer your question though, I start and stop it when I stop at the wall. I hit lap to start a new set, or to change from warm up to main set. So after warm up I will hit lap, and if the main set is 3 X 400, I will hit lap after each 400. But, if it is maybe 10 X 100, I wouldn't lap each one. Totally personal, unless you are coached and they want to see it. Enjoy the 910! |

Expert 1148 Santa Fe, New Mexico | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Regarding tips for using the Garmin 910 in training. When you're setting up to go do a single workout, if you hold down the Mode button for a couple of seconds it brings up a menu which allows you to select, run, bike, or swim. Pretty handy not having to scroll through a bunch of menus just to change sport. After a year of using it I almost always now remember to select the sport I'm actually doing. Melissa and Chris, it's good to see you guys back! |

My first tri isn't until March 24. I am greatly reducing my race calendar the 2nd half of the year. The only races I plan to do after June are Augusta 70.3, and one local half marathon that simulates the Florida run course quite nicely. It is 3 weeks out from IMFL so I will probably keep running and go 18 miles or so. I'm anxious to get the season started!! |

Master 2005 South Florida | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Gearing up..have done a 13.1 trail run (HQTD) and 10k (pace testing)...we are doing the A1A half marathon, a full mary march 10, oly on 3/24, possibly another OLY on 4/14, then the St. Croix 70.3 on May 5th. And I have a looooooong way to go to be ready for that! Then nothing on the calendar YET from may 5-nov 2. July is a really, really busy time for work, so I imagine I will be really tired that month! At least I work from home and can make my own schedule, but it will be a rough month for sure. After taking last year essentially off, I am happy to be making my way back to what I am passionate about happy hump day all...carry on

I've also got the Scenic City (Chattanooga) Half Marathon in February, several bike races in March and April, Chattanooga Waterfront Tri, and other short distance tris the next few months. It feels good to not be a lazy bum anymore. Waking up at 4:30 am hasn't gotten any easier, but I have missed starting the day off right! |

Member 40 Rochester | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I start my season out with a local duathlon/half marathon on Saturday/Sunday the last weekend in April (it's cold up upstate NY so we get a late start). I'm debating an early 2013 trip to Florida for the 70.3 in May and feel like that will probably happen. Then I have Syracuse 70.3 in June, NYC Olympic in July, and Boulder 70.3 in August. After that my next trip will be to PCB. Looking foward to it. |

Also participating in the Seneca 7 relay around Seneca Lake the weekend before. Then I am doing the HIM in Florida in May, the Double Mussel (spring on Sat, HIM on Sunday) in July, the new Peasantman iron distance race in August in Penn Yan NY. Throw in a handful of other sprints and short runs to fill in the season. Edited by kenj 2013-01-23 9:39 AM |

78 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Here is a little info about me!
Name: Todd What is your Ironman Resume? IMFL 2013 is my First! I have done 3 half distance races - Florida 70.3 2012, REV3 -Venice 2012- Swim Cancelled, and Miami Man 2011. Why did you choose Ironman Florida? I a live in south Florida so this is the closest full distance IM branded event. I will make the drive from south Florida and avoid the hassel of shipping the bike. What are your goals for IMFL 2013? Finish - hopefully under 12 hours, but will wait to see how training pregresses before making and goals set in stone. What are you most looking forward to? Simply completing the race with the ability to still function in some sort of normal capcity so that I might enjoy seeing the rest of the finisher cross the line. Anyone else in south Florida (Boca/Deerfield area) that is nterested in doing some long rides let me know. There is a group of about 10 people from the BRT club that are registered as well so there shoudl be quite a few options for speed and schedule.
