finished off a Very Dark Place this morning, felt very strong. Same thing happened last year, I was flagging pretty hard in the middle of the tour, but then my body reacted by getting stronger. Had no problem with any of the intervals today, and that video has kicked my a$s before. Seems I like the suffering!

How are some of you guys already done with Stage 6? I haven't even done 5 yet, although its on the docket for today. I assume you're taking advantage of the 52 hour day to get these done? Maybe I'll knock out 5 & 6 today, and take tomorrow off

Yep, I started the whole thing early, will probably finish a day early too, it's also good to keep a potential rest day in the bank, just in case life gets in the way of the suffering. Probably wont need to use the rest day though!

More than halfway everyone! We are rocking it. The only time I remember my legs being this trashed was my peak week for IMLP last year.

Recovery week next week anyone?

I missed last night due to family commitments but will do HHNF tonight and suffer in loneliness and shame.

My legs feel so much better today though so I should keep it together on this stage. However, Stage 7 I'm scared

I tried to tell my wife that but she had a version 2.0 of Sufferfest if I didn't pick up the kids on time.

Stage 5 in the books. extra shot was ok, but it got ugly fast with the Wretched. Only 4 to go.

Planning this thing out there is a chance I may need to do both Angels & The Hunted before work on Friday due to schedule issues. I can't fathom getting up before 4 AM to get this done. Happy to have made it this far, though

Any guess on the number of peloton finishers? Stage 7 should thin the herd somewhat.

In terms of bike fitness, does this craziness do much of anything in building bike strength? I'd think 9 straight days is a decent start, but it would need to be consistently built upon to make it 'stick' so to speak?

I got through Day 6, but A Very Dark Place just about ended me! I haven't missed my expected numbers yet, but today was not pretty...I can tell my legs are just getting cumulatively tired at this point!

I doubt too many more people drop. The biggest drop off is the first two days. People who have made it to this point are likely hell bent on finishing it.

Why do I do this to myself?

I see nothing but darkness. That was very painful, I'm honestly not sure how I managed to finish.

Stage 6 complete, only 3 more to go. After the climbing today I have no idea how I'm going to get through tomorrow's double.

Just wrapped up Stage 6. Somehow I nailed it. Almost every number. The last climb killed, but I made it. I think my legs are just used to being tired. I think someone else said it, but I remember this sensation from last year where I'm kind of mid climb in the hill and my legs can't really get any more beat, so I just have to keep digging for more. With all that said, tomorrow scares the s&*t out of me. Sufferlandrian or not, those two rides back to back are just mean.

I was eyeballing my garbage can pretty seriously on the third climb of a Very Dark Place, 4th climb killed me and I couldn't maintain the pace.

Very worried about tomorrows double.

I warned the wife that she may need to bring me a bucket, that was the hardest stage for me so far. I couldn't make the number in the last minute of the last two climbs and the sprint at the end was not going to happen.

I don't know if I can do stage 7 at 100%, I'll try but I think it may be the end of me!!

Is it just me or are the simple tasks becoming extremely difficult? I reached to get something off the top of the fridge and my legs gave out, almost fell in the shower and I am not going to talk about the struggles I had getting up and down the stairs at work! It's just a good thing I am in charge and can assign someone else those tasks.

Stage 5 is complete though and moving forward.

As I left Boston I said if I'm home by 10 then I'll do the rides tonight as I really didn't want to double (Triple with Shot, Wretched AND Dark tomorrow?). My wife was still up, kid passed out hours ago. I said hi to her, went upstairs to change, came down in my bike clothes and she just looked at me and said "You're f^&king crazy" and then she went to bed. Hour and a half later, it's done. I took about 3 minutes between workouts to grab a bottle of water and take stock of my life. Once that got too depressing to think about, I hopped back on and went at it. Wretched was bad. I lost it towards the end. I'm allowing it though because I even surprised myself that I got that ride in.
i am now getting the same response, took the kids to bball practice came home and jumped on the trainer. Wife walks in the room, rolls her eyes and calls me an idiot! Of course I mumble some response that is barely human and continue on

Kuddos to all of you still going strong!  Today's workouts really kicked my butt.  Right after Extra Shot, my legs were begging for the Wretched to come to an end. Even worse, the flashbacks from today's workouts were making my legs really shake at work, and we are only on day 5...

Stage 6 is done...just awful.

If I can make it through tomorrow, then I don't think the weekend will be too terrible. But that is a big if.

Yes, this is what I do for fun. what is wrong with me?

"Fandom" in triathlon compared to other sports. If you're a sports fan and simply love to follow sport, why pick a sport that may offer a view of the start, the finish and a few moments in between?

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
