I also just figured out the obvious problem of drinks.  I was worried how I was going to take 7-8 hours worth of GE or Infinit on the bike.  Special Needs bag, duh.......

I'm setting up the bike to cary 4 bottles.  Two behind the seat, aero bottle, and one on the downtube.  I will also have 4 bottles in my special needs bad and reload at 56 miles...

Oh, of course.  I need at least two bottles or more an hour.  But only one bottle of infinit (according to the directions).  I plan to drink one bottle in the first 10 miles, then toss it and use the empty space for course provided water.  I will be going through a LOT of bottles, that's for sure...  I think I need to figure out the math exactly to see when, and how much, to reload.

I will have to give up poking my fingers into my, picking my nose, sucking my thumb, and licking the doorknobs of bathrooms too.  Darn...

Know what the WORST thing about being sick is for me?  Not the fact that I feel like crap and I'm sick, cuz I know I will get over it.  But the fact, that some day in the future, I'm going to feel this crappy AGAIN.

Does that cheer you up ATX?

I heard they can remember the fact that it DID hurt, but not remember the actual pain.  Otherwise, they would never HAVE a second.  So I've heard.

I know the HIM's hurt - to the point that IM's seemed undoable for me.  But here I am.  I hope I was wrong.  But I never took them as seriously.  I trained well, but didn't pay nearly as much attention to pace and nutrition.  I hope that makes it possible...  so far so good with training.

I learned I need to really pace myself better no matter how good I feel, and drink LOTS more than I thought I needed to in the past.  Almost to the point I'm sloshing... It does wonders.

My wife suggested staying at the hotel that's next to the finish line.

I think not.  I just want to get home to my own bed.

Know what?  The after race almost worries me most.  I know how bad I got after a debacle of a long ride when I got seriously dehydrated.  Cramps, nausea, headache.

I'm thinking the night after the race will be miserable...

How long of a drive...I remember I couldnt sleep at all and finally around 8am I said take me home!  We had about 3.5 hour drive and I tried to eat but couldnt.  I think I finally slept that next nite.  You're head is still racing around too and it has a hard time shutting off.  Im thinking of taking some flexeril muscle relaxers for afterwards this time also....gonna ask the doc what he thinks

30 min....  It's right in town...

What's going to suck is the packing the bike and the car... I wish I had a truck I could just throw eveything into.

But by the time I finish, I think doing ANYTHING is going to have some level of suckyness.

Not a bad idea about some relaxers.  I know aspirin or ibuprofen will be part of my diet.

If I can think of it, maybe a session of stretching or foam roller.  Problem is, I will be done at about 8-9pm.  It will be dark, cold and late...  I so wish I was fast enough to finish in the day.
