It will be indeed. IF I run it, that is.

That's awesome, you should go for it.

It's impressive that you guys run them. 5K is a long run for me

Yeah the most I've run so far is about 15. I did the half two weeks ago but that's only half. I figure I could probably do it but I'd have to run it in about four hours or risk injury.

Where's Scout?

What?  "Could he run the marathon?" is the question, right?

He probably could.  And he could probably do it without injury.  He'll be hurting afterwards.  Just make sure you don't "race too hard".

His choice about whether to run it or not.  My opinion....  I would prefer to be better prepared, but I'm fairly certain he could finish.

Thanks Scout.

Welcome.

My real opinion, not watered down or even remotely touchy feely:

A) You're a bonehead for signing up for something then not training for it.
B) You're at decision point.  You can ask anyone you want, but the decision is still yours, and you're the one who's going to have to live with the consequences of your decision.  Not me, nor your friends, nor anyone else.  Just you.
C) HTFU.  Unless you're seriously concerned about injury, go do the bloody race and be done with it.  But don't blame me if you develop ITBS, or PF, or something else.

Ha ... well a couple things:

1) I didn't sign up for the race. A friend of mine got hurt at work and can't do it so he offered me his bib.

2) Yes I am a very responsible person who doesn't blame others. To a fault, in fact.

3) I'm going to do it. When people ask why, I'll say: `So Scout wouldn't give me sh*t.'

3) I'll give you sh*t regardless of what happens.  You know that.

Someone was in the office bathroom, so I went to use the shop bathroom. One of the shop guys and I are always pulling pranks on each other, and he saw me go in there... so I knew something was coming. I went in, and didn't lock the door on purpose. I stood there with the plunger and just waited. Sure enough, he came blasting through the door yelling "don't plss on yourself!!!" Well, I stuck that plunger right on his face. He FLIPPED out yelling and spitting. Think about it, a shop bathroom plunger......... ugh.

Oh when will they ever learn

ROTFLMAO!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for this story.

No problem.

One of these days they're gonna get me. Last week we were standing outside toward the end of the day talking. It started raining real lightly and I said "We're supposed to get some crazy rains, I even heard that we could get a tsunami". Of course he looked at me weird, as we're in the middle of PA. Then I threw my cup of water all over him.

He just put his head down and walked away.

Awesome.  You're kind of a jerk.  Nice.  =)  But seriously, thinking of someone standing in the bathroom with a plunger just waiting is hilarious in itself.  Then you slammin him in the FACE with it is just ... HAHAHAHAHAHA!  So good.

He deserves EVERYTHING he gets, tenfold. They pick on one of the other shop guys so bad it's almost too much. The guy they pick on has no sense of humor and never retaliates. The guy is a Jehovah's witness. Well, we have this little forklift called the "Big Joe". They changed it so it says "Big Jehovah" down the side instead. I didn't even know what to say....

I laughed, but still.

Then, they have this dry erase board called the "Job Well Done" board. They have all their names on it, and when they feel someone did something well, they put a mark under that person's name. Well... under this guy's name they have "144,000".  You gotta understand that religion though to think that's funny....

Holy Cow... Hostile work environment.  He could sue the pants off you guys.

I know...... that's what I keep telling them.

You should... they're going to cost you your job and the company.

I have.

The guy kinda takes it well. I said he doesn't have a sense of humor, but he does in the sense that it doesn't bother him. He just ignores it and kinda shakes his head.

I have no part in any of that. I stick to plungers.

One day they will take it over the edge... change the 144,000 to 144,001

Anyway, what year is the Jeep you're going to look at.

When i was in undergrad, i worked in an office on campus. i'd run errands for the professors, make photocopies of articles, send out mailings--just general office stuff. There was a guy in the office, E, who did a lot of the LaTeX setting, images, and graphic design for the professors. E's a great guy, always had something to say about everything.

i graduated and got a job with another program on campus through one of the professors in the group, F. He likes to take care of his own, i guess.

i've been here a little over six years, now, and a few months ago, i ran into E in the hallway here. i guess not too long after i'd left, E got cancer (mouth, i think. longtime smoker) and then retired. Except the money's running out, and so F is finding stuff for E to do over here, now.

i just ran into E in the hallway again, and now he's using a walker.

And i don't know what to say or do. i'm just so sad.

That's too bad.  Next time when you see him just tell him how nice it is to see him and then let it go from there.

I can understand, too, how awkward it might be.  I'm sorry.
