Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Jason and Michael, thats a very generous offer. I'm 72 1/2 inches and 190 lbs. I have a biking buddy who is going to let me use his. I will try it first out at the pool and see how it fits. Thanks!! This site is so supportive!! you guys rock! TGIF too Rene! I am working too much. I did get up reluctantly at 530 am to get my run in as I have work all day then my son's highschool football game tonight, and don't get home till midnight after team festivities. I'm really glad I got this done and it seemed more mental training than physical getting through this run. I guess thats important too for my IM training. Jim |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Jim, I hope your buddy's fits! I am 67in and 140, so mine might be a bit constructing! I've been hard at it at work too. No end in sight, really, but I'm going to take it a bit easier today and pay the price for that tomorrow. TGIF indeed. I need a break. I'm stopping at 3:00 for a bike ride with a friend. Looking forward to meeting Jamie and Nate on Sunday. Have a great weekend everyone! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Jim, Michael and I could trade wetsuits but mine would be pretty tight on you. Hope your buddy's suit works out. Edited by wannabefaster 2012-09-28 8:36 AM |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() All I have is a sleeveless wetsuit. Not much need for a full down here. I've never even swam in a full wetsuit. Bet it would be tiring on the shoulders/arms. Headed to the pool for a swim before the AQUAGRANNIES take over! ![]() |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Here's one that gives me hope for our retirement years I'll be forwarding this one to my father-in-law :-) Did a 40 mile ride yesterday in the mountains. Off for a lunchtime run/swim. Happy weekend, everyone and good luck to racers! (only sleeveless here as well... and only worn once... didn't think much of the experience) Stu |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good Day so far ... got woken up with some birthday hugs and kisses from the wife and my kids. I went out a had a cup of coffee with a friend and then decided to go for a 3000 meter swim. Good workout ... I felt like I could have gone longer ... really nice and easy swim. Started working on bi-lateral breathing and switch between one side and bi-lateral every 100 meters. Good luck to all the racers this weekend ... gotta go for a run. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I've liked Andy Potts ever since I knew about him. Just watched this interview, and like him even more! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91Uz29Bdyl4 He just seems like a super-nice guy, always happy, and so generous with his knowledge. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good Morning! What is everyone doing today? Thankfully, I don't mind riding on the trainer for hours on end since it is raining. Long bike and brick workout on tap for today. It is going to be a Lord of the Rings movie sort of a day... |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yeah ... its raining alright in Dallas today .... up since 6am with my 7 year old daughter. There is a kids triathlon this morning that she wants to watch for a little bit. She is always super excited to see me race and she wants to do what daddy does!?! :-) If she enjoys it I will sign her up for a Kids Triathlon in October. Its called the Monster Triathlon and is a Halloween themed triathlon. Two thumbs up for good influence ... :-) Other than that I hope for a decent trainer ride in the garage followed by Cirque de Soleil tonight .... yeah. Again good luck to all racers this weekend! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Definitely a run. Probably a swim. I don't want to let Randy down and rest before my race tomorrow! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Cloudy, warm and humid here today. Tomorrow we will be getting the rain the Texas folks are getting today. 6.5 mile run done. Never felt great but made it through. Just one of those days. I'll try to get a little yard work done then plan on watching some football and the Ryder Cup. I rarely play golf anymore but always enjoy watching the Ryder Cup. Michael-nice taper! Randy |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Bike fitting this morning. Actually just tweaking things a bit. Off to college football game this afternoon. Can't wait to ride tomorrow to see if the fitting makes any positive differences. Jim |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Getting ready for my race tomorrow. I did an easy 3-mile run this morning, and then rode around on the bike for a little, not really a workout, just keeping the legs fresh. I'm looking forward to the race, but I'm nervous about the swim, my last OWS was a disaster, so I'm hoping I'm better prepared than last time. I'm also planning on using a wetsuit for this one, in preparation for my Olympic in October. I'm going to go for a swim in the suit in a just a little while, I'll see how things feel. *fingers crossed* |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Nate and I got a chance to swim in our new wetsuits and they felt great! Any nervousness I had about swimming in it is gone, so now it's just a matter of getting some sleep. Talk to everyone tomorrow after the race. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Jamie- have a great race tomorrow. Can't wait to hear all about how it goes. Glad you felt good in the wetsuit. Make sure to body glide your neck before putting it on. Other than several problems with my power meter hub battery dying twice today during my long ride things went well. I just replaced the batteries (again) and straightened out a wire that looked a little bent. Crossing my fingers that this is all that is needed to repair the problem. I'm also looking at making a few (last minute) adjustments to the bottle set up on the bike for Florida. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Currently use a Profile Aero Bottle (easy to fill and I'm used to it-so it might stay), down tube bottle and have a X-Lab rear cage on my Cervelo. The rear cage has 2 water bottle holders. I really only need one for a second nutrition bottle. I have a spare tool kit mounted under the X-lab but may use a lower profile water bottle to hold tubes/tires. I realize this is not the most aero setup for the bike. I would be willing to make modifications to anything but the profile bottle. Having seen some of the "scary" water stations at the last few races makes me want to stay with what I'm used to. Any recommendations for lower profile (height) inexpensive throw away water bottles? I'd like to be able to discard the bottles after I've used them at the race. Will have to stop briefly at special needs to pick more nutrition bottles. I didn't need to stop at IMTX because I was using a different nutrition system them. Stopped at Florida and it didn't take that long to get what I needed from the bags. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Pretty good race today especially considering residual fatigue and lack of recent training. It was my first time on the master's podium (though only because one masters-eligible guy races open instead of open masters). My crappy swim was once again brought into sharp relief. I could have threatened a much higher finish if I could swim with the fast guys. Oh well. Report here: http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=462869 I got to meet Nate and Jamie and had a good time talking to them after the race. They both had good races! Rene, I responded to your PM, but maybe I'll copy it here for all to see as well. Got to go play with my kids for a while first, though. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() A great race for me today! Race Report It was, by far, my best swim ever. I felt good in the wetsuit, and my heart rate stayed nice and normal. My swimming work has definitely paid off. My bike was ok, I've improved, but I'd like to see my speed continue to increase over time. I felt good on the run, but, like Michael said, the course was definitely short; there's no way I ran that fast. Nate got 3.85 on his Garmin, I think. Overall, probably my favorite race of the year. It was easy to get to, easy to park, a really nice course, and I did really well, especially considering this was a B race in order to get ready for the Rev3 Anderson Olympic in a couple weeks. It was cool getting to meet Michael, and seeing him podium, those were some impressive splits! A good day! |
![]() ![]() |
Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Nice job to the both of (all three of?) you. Those are some seriously smoking run splits. If is was short, I would just keep my mouth closed about it. People only need to know if the course was long. ![]() |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Michael/Jamie/Nate-great job! I've been following Augusta. I don't know Nick's last name to check on him but hopefully he had a good day. Looks like a guy from Columbia, SC "Jim Bob Wiles" won the 50-54AG in 4:03.....you know this guy Michael? They don't have his splits up so maybe its a mistake...that's smoking. The reason I was wondering is one of my future teammates was second in the 50-54AG at 4:25 and should have a Vegas slot. Two other future teammates in the 30-34AG crushed it coming in 3rd and 7th at 4:09 and 4:16. Looking at the times for my AG there is no way I would have even sniffed a Vegas spot. Been a rainy weekend here but I was able to get training done. Light week ahead with a race next Saturday. Randy |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Congrats Nate, Jamie and Michael on great race results! Jimmy- how did the bike do after your fit yesterday? |
![]() ![]() |
Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Here's my Race Report! Overall it was a good race for me. I wish I had trained more on the bike to keep my fitness up while I was resting my knee/IT Band. I'll make more of a conscious effort for the upcoming race in October. I was great meeting Michael and watching him podium. One heck of a fast guy! The run course was a little short. I only wish I could run that fast for that distance! Only reason I want to mention if a course was shorter than reported is so that no one would be disappointed in my next race when I ran "slower" on the same distance that was reported accurately! Next up: 2 hard weeks of training to get my lungs ready for my first Olympic! Thanks everyone for the congrats! -Nate |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() slornow - 2012-09-30 5:02 PM Michael/Jamie/Nate-great job! Clearly a mistake. I've never heard of the guy -- he's certainly never done a tri around here with anything like that kind of speed because if he had we'd all know about it. He does show up on athlinks and on some local running race results, but not with results that could have turned into 4:03 HIM, even in his fantasies (e.g., 2+ hour open half marathon, 1+ hour 10K). Hopefully it's just an honest mistake all around. Hopefully he accidentally cut the course and didn't accept the award. Now, we do have a fast 50-year old in these parts. He kicked my butt today by swimming 1K in around 12 minutes. No way I can come back from that deficit! Edited by Experior 2012-09-30 7:21 PM |
