TheSchwamm - 2007-09-25 4:09 PM When i was in undergrad, i worked in an office on campus. i'd run errands for the professors, make photocopies of articles, send out mailings--just general office stuff. There was a guy in the office, E, who did a lot of the LaTeX setting, images, and graphic design for the professors. E's a great guy, always had something to say about everything. i graduated and got a job with another program on campus through one of the professors in the group, F. He likes to take care of his own, i guess. i've been here a little over six years, now, and a few months ago, i ran into E in the hallway here. i guess not too long after i'd left, E got cancer (mouth, i think. longtime smoker) and then retired. Except the money's running out, and so F is finding stuff for E to do over here, now. i just ran into E in the hallway again, and now he's using a walker. And i don't know what to say or do. i'm just so sad.

That's too bad. Next time when you see him just tell him how nice it is to see him and then let it go from there.

I can understand, too, how awkward it might be. I'm sorry.

Yeah... it was small talk and all. i asked him how he's doing and got a, "It's a little hard to move around, but i'm doing all right." i just... bah.

How sad. It's awkward to say something, but it seems like it never hurts to try. Well done for doing the small talk thing--I always end up getting all tongue-tied and shy in those situations.

I'm a Halo widow now....at least for the next few weeks. Anyone else?

Yup.

Glad to know I'm not alone.

Thanks.

I bought a new carry bag the other night... what do you think the chances are that I win a carry bag? That's the way it goes usually....

Last year I bought a putter right before I went to a tourney... and won a putter.

Nice.  My father won a Rolex at a golf tourney a few years back... fortunately he hadn't gone out and bought a Rolex yet.

Morning, all.

Back in the office, finally.  I think the training was starting to get to me.  Going all twitchy and stuff.

Thought y'all would like a photo like that.    Ahhhh, back in the day.

Morning TAN.  Man, I thought yesterday was busy.  I got 5 RFP's overnight!  I think this might be my only post of the day.

3) Yes. Yes I do.

Yes!  I like the avatar mr2tony ... except I cannot see how many goggles you are wearing.  I assume at the minimum at least two.

Thanks. Aye 'tis two. The Bear said he only sees one, but that's because he's old and his eyesight ain't what it used to be.
