Seattle | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED TriAya - 2013-04-24 10:48 AM Okay, I need some Manatee help, stat! I'm doing the opening speech/prayer for my Dad's memorial tomorrow. To have a young (relatively, that is the youngest) female doing this is highly unusual, but even more unusually, that's exactly how Pa would have wanted it. Needs to be a completely neutral, nonsectarian prayer. We got any Universalists in the house?! Anyway, I've prayed about the prayer and I'm sure I'll be given exactly the right things to say but I would love to hear your input on encouraging, respectful, even unusual or interesting things I might include. Eeks, I got nothin but I'll be thinkin' of ya! |

Our neighbor has a new puppy...hard to be sad when I'm watching this. Adorable. That's one of those situations where you don't know who is chasing who. |

I am 100% sure I can't say the same for my form but I was able to finish the workout without the lifeguards jumping in!!! I will say though, I think I had them a little nervous when I was attempting the drills. What a cluster.
*And just to emphasize how long it had been, I couldn't find my goggles because they were still in the sleeve of my wet suit from my last triathlon (that was August 2012 ...) You have no idea how happy this makes me. |

Speaking of fcuk drills, one drill I absolutely cannot do is Superman (where you stretch one arm out, one by your side, and kick on your side). I can't even do it with fins. I sink and splutter water. And I'm really naturally (as well as ... uh ... well-padded) buoyant, so I have no idea what's up with that. Oh, and more speaking of fcuk drills, you'll be very happy to know that Sheila frequently incorporates dogpaddle. I know it's because I sent her that one e-mail. She said so! happyhappyhappySaltyhatesmeSheilalovesmelalalala I really hate Sheila right about now, though, so it all works out. |

Here's what she says: Yes, advice. Remember that there are only two possible elements to a prayer: If she just wants my straight-up recommendation, I very often use this one: It is a prayer for peace to the departed and healing for us behind and cut out about the last 5 or 6 lines to avoid any specific religion. That’s completely fine. If she’d like to look around that site a bit, here’s the prayer index:

I'm doing the opening speech/prayer for my Dad's memorial tomorrow. To have a young (relatively, that is the youngest) female doing this is highly unusual, but even more unusually, that's exactly how Pa would have wanted it. Needs to be a completely neutral, nonsectarian prayer. We got any Universalists in the house?! Anyway, I've prayed about the prayer and I'm sure I'll be given exactly the right things to say but I would love to hear your input on encouraging, respectful, even unusual or interesting things I might include. No, but I have a good friend who is and does sermons at her UU church. Want me to ask? Sure, why not? If she doesn't mind. And if she does, no worries, I'll just include some flipper flaps or something. She won't mind. She's awesome like that. Of course she is. Look at her taste in friends.
This is most helpful. Please thank her and let her know I will be silently and thankfully including her in the prayer |
