OMG!  I heard about that this morning and I thought of you and Salty both.  So glad that you are safe.

I really liked him. We only had 4 sessions left and I was not going to continue because way too much $$$ but still I am pre-paid. I left in tears. I will ask the gym questions tomorrow. I guess the birthday gift I got him on Monday was not good enough. Seriously, I really thought he and I worked well together. Very sad and confused. After 21 sessions we were not a good fit? Really, he didn't wait till the end of the session and dumped me half way through. I sat in the parking lot crying. I was begging for answers. I am shocked.
WTF?! 21 sessions done, 4 left and in the middle of a session; he needs an azz kicking! Glad you will follow up with the gym, there is a lot of of explanation that needs to be done.

Wow, what a jerk.  I can't believe he would do something like that.

I've gone over it so many times in my head.  I was so devastated last night.  I really appreciate the support.  Being a nurse, I have had lots of patients that were not a good fit over the years but they are still my patients and I love and care for them.  If I really can't handle a patient, I don't wait till their discharge day to turn them over to a colleague.  I do it as soon as I know that something is interfering with me giving them the best care I possibly can.  We all have those people and maybe I was his, but communication is key.  This could've been handled much more professionally.  I probably should've pushed harder for measurement of goals and taken charge of my own progress.  We have never measured any progress.  Maybe if I would've been more focused on my purpose for being there, I would've seen this sooner.  I was having too much fun to really care.  I figured it was doing me some good, forcing me to push myself, and I felt like he understood me as a runner.

I really am struggling about talking to the gym.  I would rather talk to him and see what his reasons were for acting like this first.  I hate to have any one lose their job over me and Lifetime Fitness is all about selling a product and keeping clients.  I would think that they would frown on losing a customer that pays $110/month for gym membership (me and my husband) and then $150/week for training ($75/hour and that is with the discount).  Needless to say that $$$ will be put to much better use.

First off, what he did was unacceptable and unprofessional.  It's just not the way to treat people and I'm not sure that he could say anything to me that would make me feel better about that.  If you weren't pushing hard enough, that's on him to a large extent since part of his job is motivation.  If he doesn't want to work with middle aged women, he needs to not work at LTF.

Secondly, you talking to the gym is not only about you, it could very well help other customers.

Good point.  I wouldn't want others to feel this way.  It is a lot of money to invest and time.  Heck, I have missed all my pub runs on Thursday nights since February..

I am shocked as well.  Totally unprofessional of him to do that to you in many ways - the pre-paid thing being the biggest, and in the middle of a session?!?!  WTF!  Yeah, I'd definitely make sure you take it up with the gym, that is nonsense.  {hug} for you and a *slap* for him!

Joanne, 2 things come to mind for me. Talking to the management at the gym is a must. For you, for others, and for the gym. They need to know what their employees are doing, although I'd be a bit surprised if he is still working there when you go in next time. Sounds to me like there is something more going on with him. The more important thing is that this gives you a clean slate to start from. Hopefully you can get a trainer that truly is a pro and treats clients as such. And you might be able to schedule yourself so that the Pub Runs happen, as well as the trainer sessions. If you like the runs, then you should do them and schedule around that.

Just my two cents, Good Luck!

So as you know (if you don't what rock are you living  under!?) I'm a member of the MaccaX triathlon thingo.  He has just recruited a swim coach for the group - Brenton Ford.

Firstly was excited coz he's HAWT.  Secondly found out he lives in my suburb!  And now he has offered to coach me and another chick...June 15.

His price usually is $249 per session per person.  He is going to charge us $80 each - 1.30mins.  Underwater video and analysis.

Have I mentioned he's hot?  He has a website Effortless Swimming.  He specialises in triathlon and OWS.  Of course I won't be deserting Johnny (he's $6...)

Wow, very, very cool, Jo!!!! Laughing

I *heart* dogs!!!

Heard about the bridge on the way to work, glad you are OK, but wow, scary close time-wise!  Hope Salty is OK, too, and it won't affect either of your travels.  Oddly enough your story reminded me of my TKD sensai - she was in Minnesota and had just driven over that bridge like 10 minutes before it collapsed.  That was maybe 3-4 years ago?

I keep forgetting to mention it on here but I am 2/2 for my JoGo days!  Run and TKD Wed, Run yesterday.  Hoping for swim tonight (or strength if weather closes pool), trail run tomorrow (swoon!), PA Abandoned Turnpike bike ride Sun. and kayaking and maybe Rico ride Mon.  Might have my Dad over for dinner one of the nights.

What are everyone's Memorial Day (those who observe it) plans?

We are doing another JoGo Challenge.  Participation is optiona.  Joanne is our JoGo coordinator and she plans to post weekly updates.   Please post here or in your log when you get your "jogo" on.

JoGo description:  "the challenge is 30 days of 30+ minutes of anything that is mindfully active.  What do I mean by that?  It means that walking to the mailbox, like you do every day, does not count.  It has to be something that is off the couch (you can do something like yoga or walking even on a rest day) EVERY DAY!!!"  It's not too late to accept the challenge!

Good thoughts for Erin's mom who was recently hospitalized after she collapsed and blood clots were discovered in her lungs

I'm trying to catch up on everything I missed. I hear there is some kind of challenge going on? Oh! I'm feeling a lot better. Some allergies, but that's because I'm around the cats again after a few days. My hips were fine the whole time I was gone even with all the walking. After one day home, it hurts. I think it's my mattress. Is that at all possible?

Abberlutely.

Supportive mattress, pillow that holds head in neutral position, and if on your side, pillow between the legs and possibly a boyfriend pillow between the arms. I have no idea what that's called in the States.

None of that's going to hurt (mattresses can be expensive unless they're futons), and if you're having problems, definitely worth a try.

Agree, a bad mattress can lead to all sorts of aches and pains.
I agree but rather then spending money on a new one and getting one that still makes no difference call the place that you stayed at your conference and ask them what sort of mattresses they have then your all set to know which one works for you. But be prepared to spend some $$$$.
$$$ is right. It was a Westin. I can buy it from Westin directly: http://www.westin-hotelsathome.com/productGroup.aspx?mattress-box-s...
That's not too bad a price really and it might get ridden as much as your new bike does which was more $$$ wasn't it?

lol...I can't wait to hear what Yanti and Salty say about that one.

It's not too bad.  I know that a good mattress is an investment.  I'm not sure my hubby would be totally on board with that one, though.  I think we may do better with a firmer mattress (for him) with foam on top (for me).  A compromise on what we each like.  It's tough to find one that works for two people!

A bulldog named Pebbles once won the 50m dash at the Canine Olympics. You never know.

Pugs aren't so good with cold, though.
