Hola amigos, quick note to share that I finished the beautiful Challenge Roth last night in a total time of 13:04. It was way tougher than expected and I had big challenges with the bike that I borrowed and then it was all downhill. It was a total mind over body race and the only thing that kept me going was knowung that my family was waiting for me at the finish line. It was priceless being able to enter the finish line together with my 2 daughter, niece and nephew. Will share more later, cheers.

Finally got my bike out on the road this morning. Was at one of our local metro parks with a 6 mile loop road by 6:00am. Pic below is bike setup with my behind the saddle bottle cages and bento box. Still need to setup the BTA water bottle.

Did 6 laps - 4 of the 6 were the fastest laps I've done at that park. I'm ascertaining a combination of lighter / more aero bike and fitness.

Last July 5th 2014 I did 7 laps. Fastest lap that day had NP of 211 and avg speed of 19.6 (IF .94). Today, fastest lap was NP 238 and avg speed 21.4 (IF .98 - but my FTP May be stale). I feel even better because I was in no way attempting to set a PR. Not sure about last year how hard I was going. IF's are somewhat similar. My PR today was the first lap of the morning and first time ever for me on an aero frame on the road. I know the first .5 mile or so I was soft pedaling as I was getting use to the steering. I will say the bike made it feel easier. My neck got a little strained but I think over time it will strengthen and ameliorate. Had on a more aero helmet as well (giro attack).

Awesome! I rode mine on the road for the first time a few weeks ago in a local sprint and I couldn't believe how much easier it feels to go fast on an aero bike. Do you use your TT bike on your trainer?

yes. (1) Want to get used to the position and (2) my power meter is crank based so no desire to switch unless I need to.

"Sucks to your assmar"

did a quick brick work out but ran into problems on the run. For the last 2 weeks I have been having respiratory issues and have a history of allergy induced asthma. I havent been on medication for years but last night after the run I had an asthma attack. A quick trip to the clinic had me leaving with a fist full of drugs but the DR is mostly concerned as to why this has resurfaced. It has been hot and muggy but pollen isnt too bad nor is the smog. I feel as though I am operating at about 75% lung capacity.

1:23 group ride last night. Ended up losing the group after I mistakenly tagged onto another small group that was running a similar route. Ended up being a little short but that was okay. Breathing is still somewhat shallow - maybe 90% of normal.

52:20 runch. Horrible run, I felt bad, no motivation, summer cold, bad attitude. Kept telling myself the workout I don't want to do is the one I have to do. I don't regret it, but wow was it lousy, and I hated every step. I had planned on riding my bike and its been raining, so I subject myself to an unwanted run instead of hooking up to the drainer. Okay, now I can go get some cheese for my whine.

35:48 OWS, just enough of a chop to keep me honest and breath toward short. On the down side on a 90 deg + I did not think I would be cold at any time. Lake Huron is up to 55 deg at my house.

Your training plan is a guide but you don’t blindly follow it. You shouldn’t know exactly what you are going to do until the day you are to do it.
