I got in a walk this morning (my right calf is still achy) and I'm hoping to go for a swim later. 1200 yards here I come (most since last August).

Hope everyone is having a great and injury free week!

The hardest part over the past week is that with hubby and oldest away, I have my 9 year old here and I harbor huge guilt working out and not doing things with him. He was in camp last week for a couple of hours each day, but that's not much time for me to get anything done. I did my long bike Friday so camp helped with the portion I rode outside. Sunday I started to do a spin in the living room while we watched a movie together but my back and shoulder hurt enough after a half hour I stopped...and almost threw the bike out of the window. It was a good teaching moment for my kid - see, adults get frustrated but we have to figure out a way to work the problem and sometimes it can't be fixed that minute. So we finished the movie while I did PT and we went to ride go-carts. He said it was his favorite thing he's ever done.
Today is my actual rest day but after watching American Ninja Warrior last night my 9 year old wants to work out, so I'm thinking we'll do a little weight session together here at the house, maybe some yoga and I'll do PT. All rides will have to be on the trainer until hubby and oldest get home - so intervals tomorrow.

First of all, go-carts are amazing so your son clearly has good taste. Also, that's awesome that he is interested in working out already. I know I get pretty motivated when I watch American Ninja Warrior...those people are beastly!

Sorry about your shoulder though. I've been there and it's extremely frustrating. Keep working hard and focusing on the positive!

Mid Day Brag Session:

I don't know what I did or how I did it - but I CRUSHED my swim. I swam 1350 in the lake and my average time was 2:27. That's more than 20% faster than my last swim on Saturday. And I wasn't even trying hard. And the absolute best part - NO PAIN!!!! Boom!

I'm gonna have a healthy lunch and then celebrate with pork tenderloin and a few tasty beverages.

I'm swapping around - did the first 2 hours on the road bike so I don't tear up my back too early, now I've done 1:15 on the tri bike on rolling terrain and it's very windy so I'm getting blown all over God's creation. Back isn't horrible but can feel it a bit. Goal is to gut out one more hour on the tri bike then bring it back inside and go on the trainer on the roadie. Wishing my body weren't so twisted and difficult to work with.
Sorry for the vent...I'm getting in peak weeks and the terror is real.

Good to hear that! Now in summer white verdejos are becoming more successful, weather is unbearable .... today 42ºC - don´t know how these guys in the nearby France can deal with heat in the TdF-. By the way, amazing "brick" by Froome the other day, it was a really caotic end of the race in one of the most epic and toughest climbs, Mount Ventoux.

That´s too bad, hope they can help you fix it quick!!

I just finished a brick in "feels like" 111F. No wonder I felt like I was dying! Ugh. It was 45' bike followed by 15' run. This morning I squeezed in most of yesterday's planned run before some meetings at work. I'm back on schedule now after delaying the run yesterday due to my fall on Sunday.

Question - How do you guys set up your data fields on your Garmin for swimming. I'm wondering what settings I can use to maximize my swim training.

Thanks!

Dave, good job on the swim!

Got in a 12 mi bike today. It's finally cooling off here, and happily much less humid, so it doesn't feel like torture anymore to be outside. I'm thinking I may switch up the order for the next few days and hit the pool tomorrow - there's a track across the street, and I want to try and get in some running pace work before temps head back into the 90s.

Here is the same (Madrid, Spain), I used to swim early morning, now i just did a 60 min bike and then later in the day, when the heat does not even allow you to speak I will hit the pool for a while. Then, in the evening, when its cool again, is the best time to enjoy a glass of your favourite BDAS drink!

I am sure there will be more pro's in this group, as my setting are quite simple: I am just worried about time/100 meters and total distance/total time. Sometimes, when looking at the uploaded chart I my have a look at the swolf but honestly, I only care about time.

I have my Fenix 2 set up as follows:

screen 1: time (as in time of day)

screen 2: "drill mode", just time

screen 3: lap time and lap distance

screen 4: total time and total distance

I don't mess with any of the analytics while I'm swimming like SPL, SWOLF, or any of that stuff - just how far, how fast. If there's a particular set I'm doing that focuses on SPL or DPS, I'll just count them in my head for the real-time feedback.

Power tap P1 pedals or Garmin Vector pedals? Looking for a single pedal option ($), LBS says Powertap is showing to be easier setup and easier to swap between bikes and have more stable firmware.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I wish Charles was still in the group because I think he had vector pedals that were always giving his hassles but I'm not 100% sure.
