enders_shadow - 2008-06-23 3:02 PM OK, Jen & Judi...humor me. How deep is the water at the race site this weekend? I figured it would be fun to start my panic attack on Monday.
Five feet. If you stand on your tip-toes, your nose will be out of the water. Why can't you see the bottom? Um.... because it's really, really, really murky. Do you feel better now? (Of course, I have NO idea where you're swimming. But I figured this might make you feel better. )
Are there gators in the water? There were at my tri.
No. I've seen fish, spiders, and maybe a snake. No gators.

Gators? Snakes? Spiders? Those would worry me more than swimming in the ocean and thinking about sharks...
enders_shadow - 2008-06-23 6:43 PM Okey dokey. Thanks. I do feel better. Really.
No panic attacks until at least Friday.
The swim is the easy part. THe bike...no PR on that ride! All rollers until that last hill that spikes up insanely. Just look at the map in my blog and hit the elevation button if you really want a reason to be afraid--just don't panic! Run will be interesting between the trail and the roads but ought to be a good reward for getting through the bike course.
zipp1 - 2008-06-21 8:25 PM I bought a bikini this afternoon. What posessed a nearly 50 yr old to buy a bikini when I haven't worn one since I was about 12?? Am I crazy for listening to C?
Nope. Of course, you know TTIWWP.
I guess I can't really reply with a 'x2' until I get those pics to Kendra, huh?
maybe when you post the picture you owe Kendra I'll think abou allowing a pic of me in the bikini out here...but since Kendra has waited 5 months for the picture I doubt I'll ever have to pony up with my picture

Um...do you really want me to answer?
Yes. Better to fear the known, than the unknown. I know the river's down some, but what does that mean? Just tell me. I won't hate you for it.
It's deep where we start - over my head. There's a small floating pier and rocks near it, so you can stand on the rock in the water for a bit.
The river is down, but there the depth doesn't matter too much. The current is a little slower right now, too, so that's a good thing.
Okey dokey. Thanks. I do feel better. Really.
I dunno. I'd be more worried about the current than about the depth. But that's just me.

They live too far north, I'm thinking. No gators up there.
Probably Copperheads and Water moccasins though.....
