Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() No such thing as an easy 70.3. It is a tough distance, and harder to pace than Ironman, easy to overdo the pace on the bike but 56 miles is a long way. Today I misspaced the first 20 miles of the bike, paid on the run. You'll see the files later and get a good idea. Cannot upload, only brought my iPhone to Lubbock. |

![]() | ![]() Hey everyone. If you don't have a way of drinking from a straw during the bike segment, I would highly recommend one of these. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001A0CGII/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01 Worked great and it caused me to up my calorie and liquid intake immensely. I bought the mounting kit as well as the bottle itself, but will be returning the mounting kit (for free, I love Amazon Prime) because I don't need it. My aerobars are close enough together. But the system is great. After it's empty, you just grab a water bottle from between your feet and empty the entire thing into the aero bottle. When I looked around at the bikes of the other people practicing the HIM route, almost everyone had this exact bottle. This is one of those things I wish I had bought long ago. Here's my setup now (in our messy "mud room") http://flic.kr/p/ck92Pm http://flic.kr/p/ck92AN Edited by chris2533 2012-06-24 8:40 PM |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Andy and Barry, great jobs! Chris, awesome that you ran in the heat. I am not doing well with the heat here in Austin. Working out earlier than I'll have to race. Spent all week networking for my next job. I'm really thinking about writing my ebook.

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Updating totals for the weekend. @Ernesto: That's a fantastic race. Can't imagine how you held up in that. Pretty amazing performance with a HIM swim and run just two week previous. You are the man! @Chris: I added that exact aero drink setup to my bike two days before my HIM and totally agree with you that it is fantastic. So easy to use and it forces you to drink constantly. Every time you think about that straw just drink. I also zip tied a salt stick dispenser to the bike which, if you take salt, makes it incredibly easy to access (and more importantly keeps the pills dry). @Barry: Solid race - way to go. @Andy: The thought of swimming 4 miles is just so alien to me that I can't imagine doing it yet alone going that distance a day after swimming two mile the previous day. - Gabe : S 8 / B 13 / R 13/ Rest Days 2 ; Total = 34; 32:50'00" - MatthewS: S 10 / B 7 / R 2/ Rest Days 4 ; Total = 19; 13:00.00" - Rachel : S 8 / B 4 / R 6 / Rest Days 10; Total =18; 32:16'13" |

I hope I'm not DQed for this, but I had to weigh in a day late. Sundays 3:45 A.M. wake up followed by a trip to the airport and then a 3.5 hour drive home was not conducive to a good weekend. Even with a weekend of poor sleep, no workouts, too much driving, and bad food I stood pat and weighted in at 168 this morning. I give full credit to the don't eat like a pig diet, |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Glad to see the PR trend continuing in the group! Great job to all the racers and those who hit training milestones. While not a training milestone - yesterday was the first day that my ankle has felt normal for weeks. No pain when walking, no twinges, etc. No discomfort afetr the hard ride on Saturday - even hammered up a couple hills. I still dread running but I have at least 4 weeks before I have to see how it responds to running. Daughter got a new bike yesterday so that she can get to her cross country practices on her own. Took a short easy ride with her last night. I think I need to find a race and ink it for Sept. so I can get out of my training funk! - Gabe : S 8 / B 13 / R 13/ Rest Days 2 ; Total = 34; 32:50'00"- Jim:S 8/B 13/11 / Rest Days 4: Total=32; 27:50':09" - Chris : S 8/ B 10/ R 9/ Rest Days 4; Total = 27; 30:03:30" - Barry : S 7 / B 7 / R 12/ Rest Days 5 ; Total = 27 ; 23:01:53 - Scott: S:6 / B 6 / R 14/ Rest days 4; Total = 26; 20:43:30 - Jackie: S 9 / B 8 / R 8 / Rest Days 4: Total = 25; 20:03'21" - MarkZ : S 2 / B 6/ R 10/ Rest Days 4 ; Total = 19; 24:52':00" - Andy : S 7 / B 3 / R 9 / Rest Days 8; Total = 19; 21:01':16" - MatthewS: S 10 / B 7 / R 2/ Rest Days 4 ; Total = 19; 13:00.00" - Rachel : S 8 / B 4 / R 6 / Rest Days 10; Total =18; 32:16'13" - Jennie P : S 4/ B 2/ R 8/ Rest Days 4; Total = 17 : 14:02'06" - Scott P : S 5/B 4/R 8/ Rest days 9; Total = 17; 12:04'19" - JoeP : S 4 / B 8/ R 6/ Rest Day 4; Total = 18; 18:08:56" - Mike: S 3 / B 5 / R 6 / Rest Days 2: Total =14: 15:44'15" - Samyg: S 3 / B 6 / R 6 / Rest Days 6; Total = 15; 13:48'12 - Ernesto : S 3 / B 6 / R 5/ Rest Days 6; Total = 14 ; 14:55'20" - Mitch : S 3 / B 8 / R 1 / Rest Days 12 ; Total = 12; 10:44':00" - MarkH: S 3 / B 3 / R 3 / Rest Days 0; Total = 9 ; 6:59'00"

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I know Scott posted how we have been unable to train do to our sponser cadet coming in last week. I had hoped to be back on yesterday but as some of you may know, we had to stay home due to the wildfire that broke out on Sat afternoon. We are currently not threatened by the fire but the air quality has diminissed. Yesterday there was a thick haze that is gone today but it's still early and you can smell the smoke in the air. There is no containment of the fire yet and they believe today will be worse with more northern movement(we are north east of the fire). Watching the blaze burn the very area I've been hiking is heart rentching. The fire is named: Waldo Caynon Fire if anyone wants to look it up. We are praying for all the firefighters and support teams out there in this record heat and intense conditions. I will also hopefully get my race report posted... Congrats to all those that raced this past weekend... I hate that we have been out of touch.... |

We have a Schnauzer - not the best at running any distance. thinking our next dog will be a Viszla as I've read they can run and run and run and run. |

It's my only doubt about the breed. I live next to a school so I have lots of field for a dog to run on and play fetch. It's still years away though. Glad you were able to add Missy to your family. |
