Subject: RE: The "Ultimate COJ Thread About Nothing" Thread # 3I haven't stopped in for quite a while. Hello all.
I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I was going in for a sleep study consultation. The bottom line was that I didn't fit the typical mold of person with sleep apnea, so instead of shelling out $2,200 from my HSA to determine if I have sleep apnea or not, I've decided to explore some other avenues first. However, they did tell me that my blood pressure was high. I've since checked my BP twice with one of those machines at the grocery store. Every time my BP has been roughly 155/90, give or take a couple points. I have now set an appointment with my regular dr. to discuss this issue. I spoke with my mother today about family history, knowing that the dr. will ask. Here is her reply. Pat--forgot that doctor just put your father on BP med also. Paternal history, father, maternal grandmother and maternal great grandmother Maternal history, mother, maternal grandmother and maternal great grandmother (stroke) Given all of that I feel like a walking blood pressure time bomb. I'm relatively young (will be 35 this summer), fairly fit, and diet is decent, probably could use some work but not terrible. Since Matchy was giving everybody the business about going in for a colonoscopy, I'm going to suggest that everybody keep an eye on their blood pressure to boot. I would have never guessed that I had high blood pressure. I never have in the past, but you don't know unless you check.
