How many miles do you get out of a pair of running shoes? Depends. With my Mizunos, I can do around 400-450. I had a pair of Brooks, they started causing me serious foot pain after about 200 or so. I don't wear Brooks anymore. So do you know go with straight mileage or do you wait till something starts to feel "wrong"? Combo of both, really. I track the mileage, so I can see a correlation between total miles on them, and when I start to notice discomfort. I can say that I start to notice pain in my feet, and lower legs. That's usually the first sign that it might be time to check the shoes. I think it's important to track those trends over time, too. I track mine too. I've got Mizuno's and I'm sitting at just over 300 miles. I'm curious, do these pains come during the run or after? I ask because my last couple of runs I've started to notice some joint pain in the knees (just ever so slight, nothing major) and the occassional ankle pain. I'm not too bad, though, after the run. Don't bother looking at my logs. I still track at Training Peaks for now. |
