Yeah I suspect a ride over 4 hours will happen on Friday. Who knows, we will see
Ok, I gotta give you a little grief. I rode 4.5 hours 2 weeks ago this Friday and I got the caution flag from you that it was possibly too soon for that distance. I'm just sayin! (In case it doesn't come across, I am kidding!)

A long ride Friday is definately in the forecast! It is supposed to be 82 on Saturday...maybe a chance to start getting heat acclimated for the run? It's gonna be a great weekend.

Before I bought the wetsuit I e-mailed De Soto with my concerns of 'what happens if the suit gets banned'.  Chuck Cates, the Director of Marketing, sent me a .pdf stating how much of a percentage I would save toward the purchase of a T1 suit if  the Rover were banned.  The percentages changes and are based off certain dates, and if it were banned you still get to keep the suit (to use in any non-banned races).

WTC has submitter rule changes to USAT and it looks like the Water Rover is toast, maybe after September or for next season. They are trying to get more of the rules consistent between USAT, WTC, ITU, and the swimming federation. This is per Dave, H2)fun over on ST whop spoke with them:

"So, let me try again. I just talked with Charlie and Skip from USAT, and Skip has approved rule changes for WTC that he will be sending me today, that I will post when I get them.

1). 5mm thickness max has been approved.
2). water temp cutoff lowering to like 76.2 has been approved.

Skip did not remember a shoe clip in rule, so will be looking into that and letting me know.

Now, if someone at ST thinks my post is somehow bad, please give me a call since deleting my posts makes no sense. "

Water Rover going to be ok for this year's LP right?

I need to buy a new wetsuit, but am strongly leaning toward the Helix.

Yes, the ban likely won't be until Sept. at the earliest, more like next year.

Sucks about the water rover for DC

According to his blog he just got it. I inspired him to keep the tags on, don't swim in it, and return it for a refund or credit to buy another DeSoto suit. I just think it's doesn't make any sense to own such a pricey suit when you are limited in the races you can use it in and lets be honest, it's no faster than any top of the line suit. Period. Even the great other ones from DeSoto.

Real quite today!

I got 8 hours of sleep last night only woke up 4 times, so not to restful.

I plan to ride solo today and Friday with a group ride Saturday morning.  Friday will be another brick with a swim Saturday night.  Then well see about Sunday maybe a ride in the afternoon after a run in the morning.

Oh this all depends on sleep, go figure.

Welcome. I did Ironman Louisville last year and the volunteers were great. I felt like this was a way I could give back and sign up for 2011. I do not have confirmation yet but I am thinking I will be at run aid station #3 during the late afternoon/early evening.

Thanks to those with lodging advice. I'm thinking I will go as cheap as possible, so camping out or just arrive in time to volunteer and sign up for next year. The biggest problem that I have with that is the long drive. I am coming from Michigan so it is around 11-12 hours.

No it doesn't.  I'm returning it, and buying a Zoot Zenith using Bryan's code to get 20% off.  So I'm actually getting back 100 bucks on the deal.  The suit is too much of a headache with all this BS surrounding it.  I don't lose out, I'm making out a Benjamin.

What in the world has happened to this thread?  Everybody burned out from it?  I know saving your energy to train this weekend.  Good you you’s.

I would have thought Fred would be online, hiding in the car, in the garage on he’s droid.

Good news Bob. This water rover thing is going to hurt Desoto quite q bit isn't it?

It's just one suit, the eat the R&D cost and initial production, but not the end of the world. The speed suit biz will impact all of them, but it's not a big part of their biz. I spoke with ZOOT today about that.
