Feel free to copy and modify, as I did from marvarnett's from LP. Selfish promotion but I'm wrapping up an application that will update your Facebook status and/or send text messages for each leg during the race. I'm hoping to have it ready for beta testing tomorrow and during beta it will be free. If interested I can can send you or any other participant the link to sign up. I wrote this to update family and friends for when I do Ironman Cozumel. Of Ironman Florida peeps, the site is up and running for you to register to have Facebook status updates and text message updates during your race. http://www.tritracker.com. This is still in "beta" phase but worked well for me duing Ironman Augusta. Edited by csharp1171 2010-10-31 1:52 PM |

It's NOVEMBER? Didn't the hurricanes get the message??? Edited to add...finally found the "long term" track. Looks like it's going to eventually push north and east and go up the east side of FL...i.e back into the Atlantic. Whew. But the shorter term tracks had it hitting cuba and going straight north... So if you need someone and can't find it at the Ironman stores, head on over there. If your bike needs some fixing, ask for Dale! He just made my bike GORGEOUS. They are good peeps and not shady at all, despite being set up in the Alvin's parking lot. Apparently they've been doing this for years. I've been in that tent every year I've been to IMFL. What's the name of the place Jen? Thanks for sharing about them and they are good folks. I recall they have lots and lots of things at better than IM expo prices. I'll need to get some CO2 since I'm flying. I scored a great deal on 20 for $20 thru Amazon now I'll pay probably $3 each for 3 to have for the race. |

If I had enough extra I've give or sell you some, but I was looking through my stock and I only have like 1 extra! When did that happen???? At some point I had a ton of them. I think about the ironman and my heart wants to start POUNDING. The race is always in my thoughts at this point. Okay... so I just tried to go online at the IMFL website and order a banquet ticket for my hubs to come with me for Thursday. It says that online registration is no longer available. Is getting a ticket once at the race site this upcoming week a possibility? Just need to know if we need to make some alternate plans. Thank you!!!!! Hope to see some of you all at the swims later in the week! |

Heading out to NY for the Marathon same weekend as IMFL to get a taste for the distance. Jen, what do you fly? Air Force??? Totally agree on your quote, once you've tested the joy of flight, you will always miss it when your feet are on the ground! Best of luck getting to the race and pushing hard through it! Most important, make sure you enjoy every minute of it! I'll join (hopefully) the party next year, hope to meet you then. Elite 3495 SE | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I think you can do it if you want do it badly enough.
This month was fairly decent considering the taper for 2 weeks now. I eclipsed all of Sept except on the swim. Frankly the cold has killed my morning swims. Today I had to wait until close to 2pm to even bear it. On the year, I am really doing well in bike and run but behind last year in terms of swim and stretching. I virtually stopped stretching at all. I can't say I notice a big difference other than I am more tense physically, which may be a function of generalized anxiety too. Errr...I guess there is some specific race anxiety haha! |

My swim and bike total are ahead of last year but run is behind due Lymes, knee injury and surgery. Last month and this month most swim yards I've swam in two months by a significant amount. I've done the hard part training for Ironman now next Saturday I get the reward and the fun of participating in the race

Very pleased with October and the year in general. Of course 2009 wasnt an IM year and the focus was on running. But for October I hit most of my training plan other than the week I was sick. |

Expert 1360 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I started tracking around last November, so most of my totals from 2009 are since signing up for florida. I also didn't put mileage down for trainer rides over the winter. So here are my hours!!! My numbers the last couple of weeks are down a bit from my cold. Got through the big days though. I have a cough still, but otherwise seem to be okay and my cought isn't bad while working out. Hopefully I can kick it before next weekend.

Extreme Veteran 483 St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Hi guys, Probably my main concern at the moment is cold - just no used to it - I look forward to meeting y'all and getting some advice, currently my plan is to layer up and progressively ditch at the aid stations. For the bike I'm thinking sleeveless jersey with short sleeve jersey on top and some disposable arm warmers (tube socks) Plan on wearing compression calf sleeves for both bike & run - but have compression tights which I might use instead. Thinking of vest for first half of run (will have a couple of varying thickness in my bike-run bag) then got a long sleeve dryfit top for the end of the run (if I do get hot I'm thinking I can ditch either the vest or the long sleeve). Hoping walmart/home depot will have some cheap thin gloves in stock - would like 2 pairs (early bike and late run). I don't ever wear socks for training, but am now worried - problem is not sure if wearing in my bike shoes will help or hurt. Anyways, good chat, thanks for listening |

Consider putting a gallon ziplock bag down your tri shirt. Keeping your chest warm is key in the conditions we might be riding it. Arm warmers and second jersey will help but on the bike bike when it is colder and you are wet wind is what makes me feel cold. I've been doing lots of riding in the 50-60s here in MA. Vest may be more helpful on bike then early on the run depending when you get off the bike. You can always hit up some used clothing stores or someplace like Marshals to see what you can find cheap that you cans ditch along the way. |

Hi Jen, do you know if they will do full set-ups? thought of dropping off and picking up all together sounds nice right about now - will get in Wednesday and time is tight (and I am lazy). I'd b eternally gratefully if you could post or pm a company details or number - googling Dale & Panama City brought up some very undesirable suggestions |

Expert 885 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread
Big month! Very happy with where things are. Wish I was faster on the bike, but oh well. I have been trying to hit 1000 miles of running in a year for the past couple of years and it looks like I will finally get there this year. I am mostly packed. Have been watching the weather as well. My bike ride Saturday morning started at 40 degrees. I had on a tri outfit with arm warmers and two jackets. My legs were fine in the shorts. My fingers were freezing to start, but got warm shortly after getting going. Also had a head band to cover my ears. My concern is starting the bike wet, so if temps are cold, I will swim in something different and change to dry clothes in T2. I can handle running in the 60s in shorts and sleeveless tri top (ran this morning in 50 degrees and got hot with a long sleeve top on), but do have a long sleeved top and gloves to put in my special needs bags. It will be interesting. I am taking stuff to be warm but will continue to watch the weather. One more day of work. I'm ready to get to Florida. |

I know I saw some people meeting at the swim, but due to military training and some really awesome help from the IMFL athlete services, I'll be getting in Friday afternoon to get all my stuff taken care of. I'm local (@ 45 min away) so I'll be commuting the whole time. Anyone going to be wandering the village or getting food or whatnot? If there is already a meet-up plan I'll do my best to make it. Thanks and see some of you next weekend? |

Didn't get to do my 2 hour spin today, or I would have come to around 750 on the bike, which may be my biggest bike month ev-ah. And I'm feeling good As far as temps...it's gonna be quite cool for me...I"d like it to warm up a bit. Depending on when you will be running, it can be quite cool and windy, especially along the water. I have run both years there in a long sleeve top for the second loop.
