ecpasos - 2011-05-13 10:44 AM Oh! Ok. I should've reasoned that. That's no less impressive. So I have a race on Sunday. A 12k. My best on it was in '94 and was 1:03. This Sunday I'm shooting for under 58 min. Wish me luck!!!

Rock it out! You got it!

Hi all!

I've had 2 PT approved runs so far.  She said I could run a mile this past weekend and then if that felt OK, a 1.5 on my next run day, which was today. (And she's go my number. Told me " and if you feel fine that doesn't mean you can go longer.")

No pain while running.  YEAH!  A bit achy now, but there are so many variables that I can't say it's the running.  I spent the day in IEP meetings.  I'm not used to sitting all day and I know that bothers my hip, so I'm blaming that and not the running.

Glad to see people's season's off to a great start.  I'm still debating about what to do with the Oly I have at the end of June.  Will I be ready since I've only just gotten back to biking and running?  Not sure.  Will see.

Really glad to hear your getting back to running... end of june is still a ways off and you can always just do the race, readjusting your goal so you are there to just enjoy the race atmosphere and finish feeling good, pain free... not worry about time...

I did it! I managed to pull out a 55:42 on this race. Best ever... and my previous best was when I ran this back in the early 90's when I was still in good shape (pre marriage, kids, career). It's very exciting to be in this good of shape!

Robin and Eco WOWEEEE! So good and so fast!!

Me... kinda slow...

I did a 5k two weeks ago and another yesterday. Same time. Isn't that weird? Anyway, trying to implement the chi-running form, and did a good job of that. I am not nearly as sore... there's something to this I think!! Even my foot, not as sore!!! YAY! My husband ran with me and kept my cadence steady and higher. He's a saint.

Anyway, another race this weekend, see if I can knock off a minute or so. I kept it under 13 mins per mile. Now we'll go for 12:30 or less.

Last day on the job today. Ready for something new and different with a real company. Meanwhile I have a couple of consulting opportunities to keep me busy.

Enrique/Robin/Steph - congrats on your races this weekend.  Sounds like all had great runs!

Me - I did a 5k Saturday morning too.  I didn't make my goal time but considering the issues I'm having with my left calf right now I was happy just to finish.  Still looking for that elusive sub-30Smile.  I know I'll get it - I'm just impatient and want it now, lol!

I'm going to take a couple days off to let the calf heal.  I know it's going to drive me crazy not to run, but I need to do this if I don't want to end up being out even longer.

The Stick is a good tool to massage soreness.   (You guys must think I am always in pain since I use these tools all the time.  Actually, I'm not in pain much anymore because I use these tools.

I've thought about that. Problem is...I place 3rd in my age group when I did this race 2 years ago. I was hoping to do at least close to the same time.  I just have to stop thinking so competitively.   I have my follow up appointment with the ortho doc today, so that may dictate some of what is possible.

I did a 5k last night around Wall street. Ok, picture this... 5k course with 11 turns, 12,000 people, narrow streets... getting the picture? It was like the running of the bulls! I swear I ran fast just to avoide getting totally trampled. I forgot to wear a watch so I dont know my time. Its hard to judge because I was running really fast (for me) but then there would be a bottleneck at every turn. I get the results tonight.  I'm hoping to beat my PR of 26:42.

Off to the pool, have a great day McFuzzies = )

First time trial of the year last night. 12.5 miles.  First time on the TT bike this spring.  First night with new pedals and shoes.  Lost 15 seconds getting clipped in.  Then burned 98% of FTP to the end.  I was happy with that for the first race of the year.

I just got my 5k results...I did it in 25:53,  8:37mi pace. a few seconds slower then my PR. but I got caught in some bottle necking, I actually walked over the starting line it was so crowded and it took a whole block to get going...so, there is my excuse. Now, onto bigger and better! Psyched to set my sights on my first Tri in June.

Nice going Ice! I dont know what 98% of FTP is but it sounds intense, congrats on your first race of the year. So who's got what races coming up? My next race is a sprint June 12.

Steph, I read the Chi running book, very helpful... the POSE technique also helped me, there are some similar ideas. A running coach once suggested to me that I think of the ground as being hot and not wanting to burn my feet so I'd have to pick them up quickly, I often visualize that when I feel myself getting lazy feet... another running book I read recently called Run, The Mind Body Method of Running by Feel by Matt Fitzgerald (excellent book!) talks about running light so that you cant hear your feet hit the ground. Lately I've been really enjoying reading about running...

I have not been around much lately (work has been a ZOO)  putting in WAY too many hours... keeps getting in the way of training   Looks like everyone is doing well and we are getting well into race season 2011.

This saturday I am doing an Olympic tri on a relay team (another first for me).  I will be doing the swim portion (1500 M - shooting for sub 24 minues) The rest of my team is stacked with a guy who can go 22 mph average on the bike and another guy who can run sub 6:15's  If I hold up my end, we got a real shot.

Maria and I will be doing the Deer Creek Sprint in Columbus, OH on June 5th.  This will be Maria's first triathlon (I am more excited for her than she is).  The week after that we are doing a 12 person relay from Madison, WI to Chicago (200 miles)  How strange are we that we would want to spend a pile of money and give up a weekend at the beach to run our pants off for 30 hours while camping out in a van on the side of the road with 11 other people who have been running and smell like it too, all in the name of FUN!?

Nice job especially considering the bottleneck! I am scared poopless of my first Tri. I should have done the nautica and walked with my sore foot. But I didn't want to do it if I couldn't run. Now I've made it into a HUGE deal. ARG!

Good luck on your first tri... feeling good? which one is it? i bet you are ready NOW.

You guys are too cool! It's nice to do stuff together isn't it? My husband is so patient when we do a 5k together. ;-) I wish he could swim!

The relays sound like SO much fun! Kick some butt!
