Well, with half the year now over, I'm very happy with my YTD totals. Most importantly, with 591 miles ran, my goal of 1000 miles this year is getting closer. |

BarryErnesto Mitch Jim joep Andy I'm up for a July challenge, I need to get back on track after a crazy June. This week I trained very little, unless you consider the cross training benefit of clearing and leveling a 20ft diameter circle, building a retaining wall on the back side of it (moved/stacked about 4500 pounds of block) then installed the kids' new pool. Finally my wife kicked my rear out of bed this morning and forced me to go for a ride. I think I was just overworked and tired all week after those absurd swims I did last weekend. I'm ready to go again. |

Today was the last of 4 days working at the Food Taipei Expo and I still have to hit the fresh fish market at 3am, before heading out to the airport, so I'm going straight from the bars to the seafood market. Incredible trip and great people in Taipei! Also, thank you all for a great challenge, it helped me keep some of my fitness after my IM and I'm in for the July challenge, even though I probably will have a partial participation since its my 2nd IM challenge, the arrival of Gabe Jr. around the 20th of July! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Congrats JIM! This tinfoil medal will surely translate into a ot of "real" ones. I finished the month with a 25 mile ride. Funny that I feel I "slacked" somewhat, and yet this was my second best month by training volume. Looking forward to my race on Wednesday. - Jim:S 11/B 16/R16 / Rest Days 4: Total=43; 38:15':48" |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Jim - congratulations! Great effort, super consistency and big volume. Way to go. I just finished our local Gold Coast Marathon. Slowest time ever (4:40 something). It was hot, I got sunburnt in spite of the sunscreen and the last 10k was (like always) a painful drag. But it got done. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Congrats Mark. That's stills good time. Considering the heat it's well done. Good job getting the wife involved as well. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Congratulations Jim on winning the challenge, way to go! That is really good preparation for the ongoing season and it will translate to race results that you haven't seen before. Mark, congrats on your marathon. You can't phone one of those in, they are ALWAYS hard. |

New user ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sorry to have been MIA for a while. I can now proudly say I am officially a triathlete! Did the NYRR sprint yesterday and it was incredible. I was terrified of dying the entire swim, but felt so good to finish and jump on the bike. Now I think I know why this sport is addicting. Already sign up for proper swim class and plan for fall! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks everyone. I had a really good month, all the stars aligned for me. Lake Huron is warm enough to swim in which helped a lot. I would also like to thank the Taipei food expo for taking Gabe out of commission. He and I were tight all month. Mark congratulations on your marathon. First workout for July challenge 10 mile run 1:39:27. I was afraid I would fall victim to the curse of the Maya, I got severe leg cramps at mile 9 and had to walk part of the last mile. I had a wild kingdom moment. I saw two bobcat chase a wild turkey in front of me on the road. They went into the woods, so I don't know the outcome. Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Congrats on everyone for the June challenge! Things are starting to get back to normal here after evacuating from the fire. We got back into our house Friday morning. The fire never got closer than two miles so we don't even have smoke damage. This weekend has been spent getting some rest and unwinding from the stressful week. Hopefully we'll get back to working out soon and particiapte in the July challenge. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm here in beautiful Cancun enjoying some relaxed times, I swum in the ocean yesterday and ran about 35 minutes today, the place is not so hot but very muggy. Felt super sticky when I came back. Not doing any major workouts this week, just trying to have fun and recover from my two halves, after I get back I will start some heavier training blocks since Ironman Florida is only 19 weeks out. Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() First ride of the month and blew out both tires 3 miles into it. I was supposed to be a short ride, just not that short, so I didn't bring a spare. I am considering one of those co2 systems. Does anyone have experience with those? |

I am considering one of those co2 systems. Does anyone have experience with those? I now carry a tube changing kit with one spare tube and two co2 cartridges (and the nozzle). Word of advice: it isn't easy to change a tube. If you've done it recently, ignore this. If not, go to your local bike shop and have them teach you how to do it. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() JBacarella - 2012-07-02 12:22 PM First ride of the month and blew out both tires 3 miles into it. I was supposed to be a short ride, just not that short, so I didn't bring a spare. I am considering one of those co2 systems. Does anyone have experience with those? I would suggest carrying the good old pump always, as a back up. Had some bad experience with the CO2. I actually play it double safe and patch the first hole if it's small and if I can find it. The second one I wouldn't bother. Some say the tube changing shouldn't take longer than 5 min or so, I tend to agree with Chris - it isn't so easy. Some tires seem to cling on to the rims more than others. In my case, it takes usually 10 min. Oh, always check the inside of the tire for that piece of glass that may be imbedded there, or else you have to do it again very soon (speaking from experience). |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Feel like I've been out of the loop the past several days. Glad to see you all holding down the fort while I was MIA. Keeping up with training as best I can. Just been incredibly busy with life outside SBR. Never did the final update to the June chart, but it wouldn't have changed the winner. Congrats on the win Jim. You're going to crush your next race. Mae, Welcome to the club and Congrats on finishing your first Tri! Mark, Way to finish the marathon in tough conditions. That takes a lot of guts.
