65min road ride. I have given up hope on the return of my lost wheel back for my mountain bike so I have purchased a used wheel set. Its quite an upgrade and something that I had planned but certainly not so soon. The rotors are a different size which meant that I needed a rear rear brake adapter and some different bolts for the front so the bike is at the shop waiting for the small parts to come in. I have a race coming up so I really need to get this bike back so I can put some time on it.

Never a crosswind, the National Forest just funnels the wind right down the road. It's too bad you can't do it this year. Work on the Admiral for Louisville.

3:20 on the trainer - it was pouring outside. Darn, but that was tough. I have not been on the trainer since early April. I did 6 X 25 at the Z2/Z3 border which is close to (probably a little too high) what I would like to ride for my ironman bike split.

I was looking forward to doing it again. Was looking to improve across the all three disciplines. We will see on Louisville. Depending on the date of the race there may be a really neat reason to do that race.

Over the weekend I began fixing a drainage problem in my backyard. 2.5 hours digging and hauling dirt in 90 degree temps meant no workout yesterday.

Cajoled myself to get on the trainer at lunch and pounded out a nice 35 minutes on Zwift. Have a phone call with a local coach this afternoon. I'm interested on anyone's experience utilizing a coach. Pluses and minuses are both welcome.

34:58 OWS the plan was to swim 2,200 yards, but halfway into the first legs the lake kicked up and and I found myself fighting breaking waves.

Only a triathlete can label 2.5hrs of hard labour as "not working out"

I actually broke out my hardcore EFS Pro Drink Mix (Carbs and heavy does of electrolytes) midway through. My wheel barrow was broke so I resorted to piling dirt on a tarp and pulling up the hill to empty on my driveway. That was the true "workout". Quads and arms were burning!

Swam at lunch. I use paddles during 50M repeats...2x50 with paddles, 2x50 without paddles...etc.

Got done with 1st paddle set and then finish up 1st set without paddles. Look at pool deck and my paddles are gone. Someone up and stole my paddles while I was swimming. No one saw anything. Guy in lane next to me was incredulous. Can't believe someone was low enough to steal a set of swim paddles?

Dave: looks like fun

Mitch: bummer and really hard to believe that there are people like that.

Adding a 1 hour swim and 36 minute run from Tuesday. Wed I took off because my right foot was swollen. It still looks not quite right this morning, but I am thinking I should be able to get out for at least an hour ride.

Mitch - that stinks. Having something stolen is one of the worst feelings in the world, even when it's something small or inexpensive.

40 minute run tonight. For some reason I couldn't get a satellite lock on my Garmin so I ran without it. Kinda nice to not be distracted by data and just enjoy the run (even though it was about 93 degrees out).

Fishing all day tomorrow on my boss's boat and then traveling to a family wedding for the weekend on Friday morning. Hopefully I can salvage a couple runs out of the weekend so it's not a total loss. I'm doing a team CrossFit competition in September so I've been focusing on that a little more at the expense of my tri training. On a positive note we're joining the local YMCA so I will be able to get my swim on again soon. The downside is that I'll have to quit CrossFit as it's a little too expensive to have both memberships. It will be strange to not do CF for the first time in 5 years but I'm looking forward to a big swim block this fall and winter, and to focusing on my running this fall in preparation for a few 5k's and half mary. I'd really like to win my hometown Turkey Trot 5k on Thanksgiving so I think that will be my goal for the fall.

Hola amigos, finally back after being swamped at work/meetings and having a hard time getting motivated to train, especially for another Ironman tri in November (Arizona).  I have been tired and skipping workouts, but just decided its time to HTFU and try to be in decent shape for IMAZ.

Mitch, sorry to hear about your paddles, and although they can be easily replaced, I know it leaves you with a bad feeling.

Updating totals including a 7 mile run + 2000m interval swim at lunch

Your training plan is a guide but you don’t blindly follow it. You shouldn’t know exactly what you are going to do until the day you are to do it.
