Subject: RE: The "Ultimate COJ Thread About Nothing" Thread # 3To add to yesterday's conversation (since I missed it).... I HIGHLY recommend "The Joy of Cooking". It's big. And it has recipes in it from simple salads to the most complex desserts you can think of. The best part of it, though, is that it explains all the different cooking methods, and talks about different ingredients, and kitchen tools, and lots of other topics. As background, my mother had me baking at around age 6 or 7, I was cooking dinner for my family at around 15, and I (very) briefly worked as a cook. I have always preferred baking to cooking, though, which is odd, because I don't really eat sweets or desserts at all. |
