Amy, I'm a Florida guy but have a place in Jay and completed Placid a couple of times. Currently in Jay NY and biked in rain the last four days. I try to stay modular for easy storage and versatility by using arm warmers, vest, glove liners and socks. If things are really bad, I use a technical shirt under my bike shirt for more core protection and will use leg warmers. All are inexpensive when on sale and can be discarded at an aide station if required. Good luck racing Placid it's the best. Rummy

my worries about navigating the course were unwarranted. it was easy to get around, although on my first loop I did go too far on the Ausable Forks out and back and I missed the Northwoods turn, so I did an extra mile on that loop. Racing the Quassy HIM 2yrs in a row and finding every hill possible within riding distance has me well prepped for this course. I rode part of the course in the reverse one day up there include climbing up from Keene. can't wait to go back in a few weeks!

On Friday it was 39 degrees when i started my ride around 5am. I was not prepared for that, but it warmed up quickly as the sun rose.

I'm from Indiana and I'd call 60 and rainy a perfect day. I'd wear nothing more than normal. My last two Ironman races were Louisville (92F and humid) and St. George (92F and sunny). I'd welcome a cooler race, though my wife probably wouldn't. Less than three weeks out now. Good luck everyone.

72 that's pretty warm. I guess I will throw my swim skin in to the bag.

How's everybody doing with the race around the corner? I'm enjoying the taper and only having the occasional moment of panic that I haven't done enough which is I think pretty normal.

I hope everybody had a great race weekend. Worked out well for me although the swing in temperatures from the morning till the end of the bike was something I hadn't fully planned for. Seems obvious in hindsight. Still one of my favorite races ever.

I'm in for 2016! This will be IMLP # 4 and IM overall # 9. Last time in LP 2012 the swim was a mass start with 2 laps counter clockwise. I have no idea the order for the start but there are many others do. Looking forward to the race, Jim

So i'm doing the be iron fit plan for this years Ironman Lake Placid. I'm on week 7 and things are going well. Feel strong and motivated. Cant wait to start riding outside again. The trainer is getting old.

How is everyone's training going so far? Feel free to include ways to make indoor cycling more fun? I'm open to suggestions...

Hey who is in for IMLP 2016? It will be my first Full Iron!

I am looking into the training camps being held but am leaning towards heading up to the area for a few weekends when it warms up and DIY training camping it

Does anyone know when the weather and Lake Mirror warms up, it is open to swimmers not associated with a group?

Secondly, does anyone know if a group does training rides on the bike course over the summer? In other 70.3's I have done a group of people that know the course very well have patiently lead informal training rides. Please let me know if anything like that has been organized in the past or is a regular occurrence.

Hope training is going well, although we are probably only just getting started.

I have Bontrager Race Lite wheels. I was looking into renting Zipp 303's or 404's for race day for Ironman Lake Placid. What time will I save?

I am running Boston in April and Ironman Lake Placid is in July. I have been told that it is ambitious to think about doing an IM so close to a marathon due to the recovery time. Any suggestions?
