Subject: RE: TEAM SKINNY (June 08) A mid year New Beginning
Hey, guys...

My dad is OK. Triple-bypass on Tuesday. All day yesterday (the few times we could see him...ICU has strict rules ) he was doing as good as you could hope. He's in the hospital until this weekend, but I'm headed home today...another 13+ hour drive (plus I lose an hour going east)...but at least I'm leaving in the a.m. and not the p.m.

Eating has sucked. Restaurants every meal and big meals (what else are you going to do in the 2 hours between visiting periods?)...lots of eating and drinking.

I'll probably weigh in again, like never.

OK, maybe next week.

I did manage to run a couple miles yesterday before we went to the hospital, but other than that, my only exercise has been lifting stuff to my mouth.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Thank you all for putting some sense into my head :-) Glad I got all that freaking out down with in advance of the race. After my last three workouts before the race, I feel relaxed and ready to roll.

Yes Sailing, "I DID THIS TO BE A TRIATHLETE!!!! That is what you were actually thinking , right? " that is exactly what I was thinking :-)

I will have fun no matter what happens, I will wear my pretty triathlon suit, I will be excited with a major accomplishment...oh and I will stop calling myself a whale...perhaps a porpoise instead? hahahahahahah

Seriously, thank you for the kind words...its really helped calm me down and helped me to focus on the big picture..whats the big picture..I AM GOING TO DO MY FIRST TRIATHLON...yeah!!!!!!!

i posted this on another thread and wanted to share with my "Team"

I am doing the Cumberland YMCA Rocky Gap Sprint Triathlon, it will be hosted by the Rocky Gap Resort/Lodge which is in Rocky Gap State Park, MD...I will not be staying at the resort (2 hundred something/night)..instead I, my boyfriend and his parents (my support crew) will be camping on the other side of 243-acre Lake Habeeb..I think a lot of racers are camping because a lot of campsites have been reserved this weekend.

so it should be a fun weekend of racing, camping, biking, canoeing, fishing...and laying on the beach :-) oh I forgot golfing..there is a Jack Nickalaus golf course at the resort so I am SURE the boys will go golfing..me and "mom"..we are beach laying type gals..

Man!! i just realized how much fun I am going to have in addition to the race :-)

Here are some pictures I found on the web...

sappho96 - 2008-06-12 6:12 AM time to brag a little....back from france finally and had fish and chips and beer and choc last night - i only weigh 148, which after a week of eating and drinking what the hell i wanted i think is pretty impressive. now it's time to lose it all

Good news Sappho, now comes the fun part of eating good and losing what that fun brought you Wink

NUMBER 900 yeah!!!

Well I've been eating pretty good lately, and working really hard outside with the fence and deck. (update-- the fence is done, and we're starting to pour concrete for deck foundation... Plus the nightly workouts. Last night was back & biceps. I had fun with this one, and my arms were only sore last night. This morning they were pretty good, so I wonder if I gave it all I could, then again I could barely open the door to the basement when I finished so, yeah I guess I did great.

Saling thanx for the info...

This is what I've surmised from it all...

-as a function of Averages, since January my average weight (for each weigh-in) has steadily decreased with the exception of the month of May, where I slightly increased by 1.625lbs. But here is what I've found:

Average Monthly weight:
Jan--193.5
Feb--191.65
Mar--191.15
Apr--188.25
May--189.875

In conjuction with my photos for P90 (back on Jan 7, 2008), I started out at 195.9 or 196. Now with my last weigh in at 190.2, it may seem that I'm seesawing back and forth, but in reality I'm dropping fat and building muscle, and since muscle weighs more than fat.... It only looks (as far as the scale is concerned) like I'm going nowhere. But, again if you look at my photos, i'm definately slimming down. Next I'm curious if anybody knows of a way to see exactly how much muscle mass I have without having it professionally calculated... Are there formulas? I know there are calculators and such but they don't take into account tape measurements and water weight, and BF%. It's my understanding that they take height, weight, and age and determine BF%. But I asked saling if a person can weigh the same as someone who has a high BF%, but have a really low one themselves... He said yes. So this is the conundrum, how do I test BF% accurately without shelling out oodles of money? Because as it seems, I may not get down to my ideal of 180-185, it's just a biproduct of the training that I'm losing fat and putting the weight right back on in muscle. Any comments???

Josh,  I think this may be pretty close to as good as it gets.  It takes measurements from waist hips wrist forearms, etc.  Give it a shot, at least it is free.

Hey, Skinnies!

Thanks for the love & concern. I'm back safely at home.

Now I just need to undo the damage I've done in the last 4 days...14 hours in the car, very little sleep, too much nasty food...and let's just say - my brothers and I had the bright idea to help my dad out by drinking up his alcohol for him before he came home. (Yeah, we're smart kids...we didn't even make a dent in his stash...but we felt like crap the next morning.)
