I am adhering to the no bike rule again   Gotta get healthy for the half.

I really want to ride, even the drainer...but there's a bigger picture at stake here so I'm trying to behave (it's hard)

Yup, good plan, but I feel ya on the whole trying to behave thing.

I'm going to teach in the morning just to see where I'm holding before going to the doctor.  I'm pretending all will be well and I'll cancel the appointment.

Hope the rule pays off!  Its hard to hold back so hopefully you "behave" and have a healthy half

Mornin' all.  I'm off to get in my first of two work outs du jour.  I have a crazy busy day today.

X2.

I had the brilliant idea to "test" the achilles this morning after a week of no bike.  I figured it would give me a good opportunity to tell the doc what's what at my appt this morning.  Grrrrrrrrrr.  I don't think the doctor and I are gonna have a lot of fun together today.  Fortunately, he's used to my sassitude so it won't surprise him .

If you notice the lack of run minutes in my logs lately it because I didn't listen to my doctor who told me to limit my running and instead ran a marathon through the pain.  Last Thursday was  a "test" run to see how the foot was feeling and it's hurt worse since then so now I've imposed upon myself a no running rule for at least a month before I test it again.

Baowolf - 2008-10-30 11:55 AM Hi gang, I am Steve. I have just completed my first year of tri training from the couch. In the past year I have done a 5k, 10 mile, half mary, 30k trail run (8k elevation gain) last weekend, Sprint, Oly and HIM. I am trying to get in shape for my first Full Mary in January and possibly a full IM this time next year. This is a recovery week, so I should be up and good to go for the start of November. I live in NE California and we have had our first snowstorm of the season, but it should be a pleasant 50 and rainy as November starts.
Hi Steve. Long time since we've been on a team together. I promise to behave.

Welll.. where's the fun in that, Kendra???

Well, ya can't have full all the time, now can ya!

I managed to escape work at 2:30 this afternoon.  I voted.  The lines were short and sweet at that time.  After that it was time for a bike ride.

Normally, in the summer, this would not have been a day I would have picked to go for a ride.  20 mph winds gusting up to mid-30s.  Uh...no thank you.  But we are having record highs in the 70s and there is snow in the forecast for Friday so I felt obligated to get out there.

I was lucky to stay on my bike.  The wind was knocking me all over the place.  When it was a tailwind it was great.  I could've done that all day.  When I got turned around it was awful.  It was a struggle the rest of the way home.

To put it in perspective it took me 38" to get to my turnaround point and 50.5" to get back.  Hah!  Great workout though.  Glad I did it

Next time ride into the wind going out and coming back will be a whole lot easier.
Great ride though.

I didn't get much sleep last night thanks to screaming people and honking horns...but it was fun!  I am planning to do my stability ball workout this evening while I watch America's Next top Model....watching really skinny people motivates me...ok not really but trashy tv does pass the time.

The race organization won't let me defer til next year but will allow me to drop back to the 8K.  I'm just not sure I should go out for something that fast.  Decisions, decisions....

Oh that is a tough one...I guess I would drop back to the 8K...but I have never had a running injury so I am really scared of getting hurt...
