Who else is thankful Tony doesn't sleep in the buff?  Can't wait to see the new ride....

It's warming up here - I'm sure the snow will be here for awhile, but at least there's hope.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Went to the pool with an attitude shift and a work out someone on this forum recommended (I swear it was on their log, but isn't anymore! who are you?).  It is the swim a mile in 6 weeks build-up.   I decided to eliminate my normal 400 yard warm-up and just do it.  Went well.  I think for me swimming is as much mental as physical.

Have a great Christmas tomorrow.  And don't worry, I have heard there are no calories in Christmas goodies!

Hey Redknight....Where in Alberta are you from? I live in Calgary, but am from a small town south of here.<

Raised in Calgary and Lethbridge. I have worked in Stavely, Claresholm, Fort McLeod and Pincher Creek. I know most of the area in Southern ALberta very well.

dalessit -p> Thanks for the reply's..  dalessit i think you're right about keeping my feet very tense.  I've been getting these cramps since my first swim lesson and keeping my toes pointed is something i've been working on since..  I had another lesson today.  I did ok, only cramped at the end a little (some improvement!)

I noticed that a lot of the time swimming I am not using my feet very much so they stay very relaxed. Just trtying not to puch too hard with the legs may help womewhat. Your swimming instructor should be able to help you with the cramping.

Good swim Suzie. It's nice when you can realx and just enjoy the swim. I find my biggest problem now is boredom and losing track of the laps I do.

Anyway I'm off for Christmas. Everyone have Merry Christmas and I hope everyone gets what they want and deserve. We have all worked hard this past year and deserve the best.

I'm going to try to get a nice run or bike ride in.  I will have to wait until late morning/early afternoon because I need to make a big breakfast for the family, then unwrap gifts and play with the new toys....

I'd prefer to go for a bike ride, but since I'm getting a bike computer for my spin bike, I guess I can just ride on the spinner.

Really, I'd rather swim, but my local pool won't be open.

Hey Merry Christmas, hope everybody spent some quality time with friends and loved ones.

After a opening gifts, a big breakfast, playing with gifts, then a nap, I went out for a nice casual 20 mile ride.  Probably shouldn't have done that as I got a flat and by the time I changed it out and rode back home, I had 2 minutes to shower before dinner. Family was not pleased with that.

Also frustrating is that I bought for myself a bike computer (Cannondale IQ114) to use on my spin bike.  When I installed it today, things did not turn out so well. First, one of the magnets is missing, but luckily my spin bike already had a magnet on the flywheel. Second, when I tried it out, I noticed; a) The computer was not picking up any cadence at all and b) the indicated bike speed was very very low. Thinking that maybe it was because I needed to use the Cannondale magnet, I took the magnet off of the crank arm and put it on the front wheel. When I did that, I noticed the bike speed went to zero and never indicated anything. When I put the magnet back on the crank arm, it started reading mph (but again very very slow). This leads me to believe that the wires for the speed and the wire for cadence are switched around. But I double checked the instruction and verified that I did it correctly. I'm not sure if I got a bad kit or if it was refurbished, but I am not happy.

Nick... The joys of Xmas, and new toys!  They never work 1st time...  That would be too easy, and no fun.  I don't know anything about that stuff, so can't help you (only thing I know is a magnet is a magnet... Shouldn't matter which one you use?!)....

Tony--- WHERE IS THE PICS OF THE BIKE!?!? (PJ's in the picture not necessary!!)

To all- Hope you had a great couple days w/ family and friends!!!

Pretty quiet in here today.  Hope everyone had a great Christmas and is in process of having a good long weekend.  Below is an excerpt of my ride this morning.

54 miles that felt like 100.  The normal ride at 6:30 got canned because of a little rain, so I texted Ron (a one legged 4 time olympian cyclist) to see if he was riding.  Met them at 9:15 when they informed me that we were going for about 3 hours.  I was thinking that would be a little stretch especially since they are faster riders but I could handle it.  Then the words dirt roads came up.  So to make a long story short...about 70% of the ride was on wet dirt roads...(the object of this excercise was to find approximately 20 dirt roads to put together for an upcoming race/ride.  It actually was pretty fun for about the first 2 hours or so.  Then the 3 hour ride turned into nearly a 4 hour ride.

I am toast!  Everytime we would hit another dirt road, I was looking for pavement again.  Some of those hills on dirt were killers.  Anyway, I made it through and am a better man for it.  Right?

Hey Plainsman.....I have a 305..they are very cool. As a newbie, its great to have for pacing myself running. Haven't figured out all the technology that comes with it yet, but i love the gadgets.

Did a nice 6km run outside today. Was a little cool, but the girls stayed at their grandparents, so was  nice quite morning around here!!

Heya Everyone!!  I've been away for a few days and missed several pages of info... so I skimmed it quickly.

Trevor - Great job on the 5k PR!

PlainsmanAu - I also recently (albeit also for Christmas) got a FR 305.  My favorite toy to date!  Check out a free program called SportTracks.  It's better than the Garmin Training Software and you can overlay your route on a Google Map / satellite image or street view...  Too many features to list here, and I'm still getting used to it.  But I also love it.

Well, I took the last few (ok, several) days off from training due to travel and eating.  I had a very rough shift at work on Christmas eve and spent most of Christmas day recovering even while we traveled to 3 family parties.  whew.  I love Christmas, but this year, I'm ready to move past it and on to the new year!

I was accepted onto a team for racing the 2009 season.  Tomorrow I have to drive out an hour and a half to meet the main sponsor and sign the team contract.  I'll get fitted for my uniform and see what cool things are planned for the team this year.  This was exciting to me as I wasn't expecting my application to be accepted, I applied on a whim.

Good things to come!

Nope, I was working today too - on my turns in 34 inches of fresh powder.  Another AWESOME day on the mountain today.  I'm quickly becoming re-addicted to skiing, but another expensive hobby is not what I need right now.
