I've been reading through last year's IM Lou forums and took some of their advice for where to stay this year...I booked a room at TownPlace Suites for $85/night.  It's in Jeffersonville, but I'm ok with making the short drive across the river if it saves me over $100/night!  Plus, the room has a kitchen, which is a bonus!  No pool, but I'll just do my swimming in the river Smile.

I'll be back there with you.  LOL!  Doesn't matter as long as we cross that line before midnight!

I'm "officially" iron training.  Found this program online and since my BT Beginner Program doesn't start until April, I jumped into it.  http://www.trifuel.com/triathlon/ironman-workouts/  I'm on the Preseason, week 4.  I'll probably move over to the BT program 20 weeks out, but it feels good to be training.

Thanks for the suggestions on lodging - I know it is still far out from the race but for some reason the last couple days all I keep thinking about is the race and that weekend . . . its my first and I really don't know what to expect which has me up in the air about a lot lol in a good way though

Anyone in the Augusta GA area and would like to partner up on long training days let me know as well!!!

Im up in Alpharetta, so getting a GA group up would be fun. When it starts to warm up more, I plan to take a few trips to Louisville to ride the course a couple of times before race day

What type of wheels are you planning on using? Aero? Tri-spoke? Disc?

Some of the race reports from previous years mention some variable wind conditions and I was wondering what the consensus is on what wheels would be best

I raced the last two years on a Jet Disc and H3 front.  5'9" 168lbs and no problems with wind.

What is you height and weight?

I'm 5'6" and 155 lbs. I was considering a rear disc, but was concerned about the wind down along the river.

I have an 808 front, trying to decide if i want an 808 or 1080 for the rear. Figured that would be more versitle than a full disc. Im 5'10" 160 lbs.

Hello all.

Is there anybody else from Los Angeles training for the Ironman Louisville?

Would love to find a group for training, advice, support, etc.

Happy Training.

Sad to ask this question, but does anyone know where I can find a last date to withdraw with a refund?  I want to wait till the last minute, but I'd like to know if I can get anything for a refund too.

I could be wrong but I don't think they give refunds (but I have been know to be wrong).

I just got an email, thanks. $150 is better than nothing...but the good news is that is long time to wait.   Incidentally, how did you find that I was looking forever on the site.

Question about wheels -

Any ideas of where I can get decent aero wheels and not completely break the bank?  I just dropped quite a lot of money on a Trek 9.8 Equinox and the wheels I own (Fulcrum Racing 7's) have served their purpose, but I just don't feel like they are Ironman "quality".  I need some awesome wheels to go with my awesome ride!

HooHa! I'm registered! This'll be my first! Now, it's time to go back and read through the 2010 IMKY thread to see what it is I missed!

I am looking forward to the journey! I'll be checking on your logs, so don't be surprised if you see an inspire from me here and there!

You can always rent for a race for around $150.
